Even though we only saw snippets of Mr. Keltz’s performances, they were very well performed without the temptation to overact, as some actors may want to do. Very enjoyable.
The Poe house needs to hire this guy to do his thing. Sell tickets and keep the spirit alive!
I'd pay to see him do some poems in the Poe house.
David is Poe reincarnated.
As a dyslexic kid growing up in Baltimore in the 60's someone gifted me a collection of Poe's stories and I fell in love with reading. Read everyday, still have the book.
💤
I fell in love with the works of Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle at the same time at about 10. Still have full collections of their writings.
As a lifelong Poe fan this is excellent. I feel in love with Poe in my youth. Never get enough
David Keltz was fantastic! What a wonderful actor. Not over done but simply done with his heart and soul.
I loved it and thank David for performing for us ❤ and thank Mike for bringing it to us.
It was really cool to see middle aged people try to sit comfortably on the floor like 7 year Olds. Memorized by this man's acting that they were so absorbed that no one blinked till he stood up quickly. Then the look of panick of how do I get up fast crossed their mind! And then he kept preforming. He is really good. I hope someone is paying him some money to preform so well.
Any links to more of Davids perfomances ?
He embodies the very essence of Poe. To bring an Edgars work to life with raw emotions , capturing proper tone to set the mood not so easy.
Great show. He is Poe. I think this is one of the gems of this show and a perfect release for this time of year. I wish we could have seen the entire "Tell Tale Heart" performance. It is my favorite Poe story. A definition of crescendo writing and story telling. You can vision the mind slipping away.
I am currently tearing into every corner of my house trying to find a book of short stories given to me on a birthday long ago. To read to my grandchildren before they get too old to care what the old coot is reading. Thanks for the reminder of what a wonderfull collection of work it is.
He should make himself a CZcams channel to record his readings
oh YES
He would be the actor is always wanted to be that way. Everyone would see it!!
David’s passion is so evident. I’m so happy someone with his skill devoted his life to this endeavor
Delightful. I hope that his prospects exponentially improve through this show. Thank you so much for casting a bright light on this intriguing man.
If someone like this would have shown up at my school and recited poems. I know I would have been more interested in it.
I was visiting a museum at Ft. Lee Virginia, where they had the uniform that Poe wore while attending West Point.
I could not help but ask the guide what happened to his military career and she explained that Poe was summarily discharged from the academy.
That of course forced me to ask what the reason was for his discharge.
She responded that she was afraid someone would ask that and then explained that Cadet Poe showed up to Formation, wearing only his saber and nothing else.
Someone had some foresight to keep the uniform he was supposed to have been wearing.
You learn something new every day!
I would pay to see him preform like that, I was hooked in the first 3 words. Absolutely amazing.
My favorite writer as well. Truly this man is keeping his work alive. He is amazing!
His performance was incredible! Love this guy!
Since I was in Jr. High school, where we studied Mr. POE, I have been hooked. He was an awesome poet and story teller. I have no idea what is now mandatory reading in school now, but one could only hope it's of this caliber.
i would LOVE for you to go back and see this guy again in the future !
Yes, indeed! Visit with your Mother/ Father or at least a reaction video PLEASE.
That was fantastic. I loved “The Raven” and “The Tell-Tale Heart” when we read them in high school. He becomes Poe and brings this to life so well. Absolutely amazing. Thank you.
I would love to see this gentleman’s performance of Edgar, Allan Poe. Ever since high school when I first read the Raven, I’ve loved his writings.
I have loved Edgar Allen Poe since childhood!
Mr. Keltz does a wonderful job being Mr. Poe.
Thank you, Mike, for sharing this treasure with us.
Poe is a fantastic feature this t8me of year. His writing is incredible. This man is wonderful. I could listen for hours.
Never a dull moment with you Mr. Rowe.
This one of my Favorite Episodes Now! Excellent Video! Thank YOU for all the Work and Heart put in to this Video Mike and Awesome Crew!
I love to see someone so passionate about what they do❤it's great
I like how Mike swings around the Dog Stick like Happy Gilmore would've 😂
this was so interesting ! thanks for sharing ! i love Poe !!
Thoroughly awesome! A story and actor truely worthy of appreciation beyond the streets of Baltimore.
Thank you. I have struggled for 3 yrs with Poe and my Spec. Ed class. You and David brought him to life. Even those not listening listened. You invited your crew to sit and my class did too. I said nothing to them . They followed you. At the end they said thank you. ❤❤❤. 😊😊😊
Wow...this guy admired Poe so much that he embodies him in Performance to honor him, as well as make a living. That's so cool! I mean... I think we have more than enough Elvis' to go around (Sorry, Elvis). But, this gentleman is basically devoting all his time to a legendary writer. Good for him! Thanks for this episode, Mike! Once again, you show that people can make a living out of something they are passionate about.
I've been a fan of Poe for many years and applaud anyone who celebrates his work!
Brilliant. My sister and I were adopted at birth by separate families and never knew of each other until 5 years ago. I was 58, she 55 when we found each other. The only thing we knew of our birth family was we were born with the last name of Poe. Upon finding each other and our birth family, we discovered we had a distant cousin named Edgar. Edgar Allan Poe.
Mike,David, and crew, y'all rock! David is Poe. His acting and ability to draw you in is amazing. Thanks for this video. Peace
Doug's cinematic shot was beautiful!!!!!😊
Rowe playing down his acting talent is quite humble.
A truly intriguing gentleman!
David should have someone video his work and sell it. I’m sure that Poe fans would love to have such great performances of his work.
I discovered Poe in high school. I was fascinated with him and his work. Watching this man make Poe’s work alive is wonderful!
Wonderful stuff. All the best to David, may he live a good long time to serve his calling.
- Ed on the Ridge
Excellent episode. Thank to David for sharing his talent and to Mike for introducing him to me.
I'm not exactly a high brow man but the passion you get from his performance really pulls you in.
Ahh a return to your childhood town it’s always a pleasure when Mike shows up. Great show I live in Annapolis and my wife loves Poe. Gotta see David do Poe.
He is awesome..passion in every word..
I've been a fan of Poe since middle school, a long time ago. This was fascinating story, about a fascinating person. Loved it. Every word.
I've always loved Poe. Thank you Mike, this guy is wonderful.
Poe was a underrated author and play write.
Mike, I can’t thank you enough for introducting your audience to such amazing people. Such a talented actor.
Outstanding.
I always liked Mike Rowe. Many years ago on radio in San Francisco there was a discussion about workers. This was before he was in national TV, I think. Turned out Mike was listening AND had an office in building radio station was in. He talked to the radio guy and it was very interesting and thought out. I have liked him since
What an amazing and powerful performer. 😮
His acting gave me chills!
he is captivating when he is performing, its wonderful to watch someone with such passion for something
Great performance! I remember I was so excited to find that Edgar Allen Poe was buried in Baltimore- visited his grave as a teen with my grandmother on an excursion in to town from her home in Brooklandville 50+ years ago.
that had to be one of the best episodes yet!
I got to teach Poe's works while teaching an 8th grade English class one year. "Hop-Frog," "The Raven," "Masque of the Red Death" - the kids loved it. I read them "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar," and it absolutely horrified them. It's amazing the effect his writing has on people this long after his death.
Wow! BRAVO, DAVID! I love Edgar Allan Poe and I could listen to David channel Poe for hours. RIP, Dear Poe. ❤️🙏
What a amazing guy David is! I've had a connection to E. A. Poe all my life; he passed away 100 years, almost to the second, of my birth. I hope to see David perform one day soon.
The device that kept dropping during the recording of The Raven...perhaps the author lending a bit of scare?? 😮
wow, this was phenomenal, I learned so much from this
His passion is inspiring.
Oh Wow what a story. Brought tears to my eyes, what talent.
To say I did not like reading during my school days is an understatement. I remember in junior high my mom bought me a couple books. They were Poe. I read them both cover to cover. Thank Mike for that reminder. Thank you mom for gifting me those books.
TY Mike ! Now I want to see him. Great episode. You do a great show and service , now we just need jobs again.
Fascinating! Poe was my favorite author in my teenage years. Most people don't know that he invented the detective story, before Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about Sherlock Holmes. His turn of a phrase was quite Shakespearean in many ways, in that they are much easier to understand when spoken by a competent actor. Thanks for shining the spotlight on this one! (And the Caddy is fabulous! Those fins -- almost like a raven's wings!)
Fantastic. I love David's passion. Poe has always been a favorite of mine since 1970 Freshman HS English. 🎶💐💖
Poe is my favorite writer. Here in Philadelphia, we have a Poe house where he used to live.
Souls who have a calling to keep history alive is something we should pay attention to - for there is relevance in this today - what a gifted man 🌿
That guy's a really good actor. To sit in a small room with five or six people sitting there, and be able to captivated them like that... that's impressive. I'm only 45 minutes from Baltimore. I may have to go find that guy. Where can I see him perform? He should teach a class on Poe.
Poe & Rowe. What a combo. 😂😂😂
My favorite poet! His name is necessary to the word poet! Tell Tale Heart os so short and yet so damn powerful!
I think a key his performance is truly understanding what he is saying which not all actors do
Wow. I would love the see a performance by that gentleman. I love Poe. Great job.
DUDE I got CHILLS he's so damn amazing at animating Poe's words!
I've always had a love for reading, writing, poetry, and horror. As soon as I learned about Poe and Shakespeare as a kid I've non stop been writing, reading, and doing poetry. I've had a lot of comments on my poems and I've had some displayed by people
Always love this show, thanks Mike and crew!
He is awesome! Blessings
I love how embracing your own unique passion makes everyone great at what they do. Thanks for highlighting every unique career success story Mike Rowe !
Ngl, that Dudes gettup, his demeanor and complexion, puts off a very good vibe, for Edger Allen Poe related story tellings.
👏👏David… Hark cried the Raven forevermore over the loss of beloved Elenor
How did you discover Mr. David Keltz? This was magical thank you, your team and Mr. Keltz for this episode! ❤
Omg I wanna see this guy in person now! Him swinging the chair in that tiny room sold it 🖤
Fantastic episode! One of my favorites. Keep up the great work Mike!!
My nephew who went to UB…has an entire tattoo sleeve of Poe & the Raven. It’s quite beautiful. He’s one smart kid…works for Feds as a forensic computer scientist…oh Poe..
I sincerely admire this gentleman's passion.
This is cool! I've loved Poe since I was a little kid! The Raven and The Masque of the Red Death are two of my favorites! I like The Bells too.
Not long ago i happened to see poe’s grave as an uber was taking me to my workplace. I’ve never been exposed to the works of poe but found it very interesting to see his resting place. Then the passionate performance here has awakened my interest.
I have a friend that can recite The Raven. Every word perfectly. The first time I heard it, she was 19.
My middle school teacher was the one only the got me into literature with Poe as I’m more of a STEM guy. Many decades later retiring to the school I was pleasantly surprised to see the gymnasium was renamed after him in honor his legacy at the school
Hey Mikey! I liked it! I liked it a lot! To watch you sitting there speechless and completely transfixed. Listening to words of "Edgar Allen Poe"..
Mikey, thank you for all that your team and you do. Kudos and Cheers, Mate.
Omg, I remembered the Tell Tale Heart from the opening. David is excellent.
Bravo Mr.Keltz, I was never really a huge poetry fanatic. But however I did find EAPoes work most fascinating. And more captivating than any other body of work. It would be a pleasure to see a Live performance of D.Keltz. In the role he was born too play. Oncore
That was a great performance 👏
Great segment! This is Baltimore! This is the history of Baltimore. I went to grad school next to the Poe grave. It was weird walking past it everyday. That parking lot you started in with the caddy, is my fav secret parking lot for the Hippodrome and Orioles games.
Poe also created the genre that created Sherlock Holmes. "Tales of the Rue Morgue" is one of my favorite stories and is my favorite Edgar Allen Poe story. I love "The Raven," but my favorite Poe poem is "Annabelle Leigh."
David was Fantastic !! I liked the " Quote the Raven " idea, wish it was a full telling. I hope he gets tipped well for all his good work of keeping Poe alive ! Mike, you & the crew always keep us intrigued with each new episode !
This man should travel the country, doing performances at small venues.
Awesome show, much applause to Mr. Keltz, he definitely needs a CZcams channel. I hope Mike does more episodes touching on the arts: while I love his blue-collar stuff too, often artists have strange and wonderful stories to be told.
He DOES have a CZcams channel: www.youtube.com/@DavidKeltz
Enjoyed this greatly, without a doubt.
To see the past once again come to life.
With a face and a sharp tongue bring back to life, words of old. To shair the thoughts of one who came before.
Of times still unknown by many without a soul
Who dears not remember of what was,
Or what's to come. Thank you
He's really good! No over acting or ham work!
I love the way Mike was able to pull out the performance.
“AND, AND!”
Stunning ❤thank David for a phenomenal performance and Mike for showcasing him!!
He should go to the Bronx NY and perform there at Poe’s cottage too
God, that was good. That was a severe tease of how books can transform into acting. I would so love to hear him do The Gold Bug,
This guy opened my "eyes" that to get a better understanding of Poe's poetry, you need to HEAR it. If you only read Poe's works, you will miss much of the beauty in Poe's work.
