      That makes sense. It’d have to be a smaller scooter to take on and off public transit. Some of the beast scooters weight in at 100+ lbs.

      @@tomsgadgetgarage 2 years ago I road a scooter for first time in nearly 20 years since I was a teenager only because I was visiting a city downtown and didn’t want to rent a car or pay for Uber so I tried Lime. Suuuuper fun and going down steep hills was so exhilarating felt dangerous as hell though haha. Now I ride e-bikes just safer because of the huge fat tires don’t have to worry as much about potholes bumps etc especially at speeds of 30+ which on a scooter is sketchy. I just pre-ordered a 40 mph e-bike can’t wait, But I’ll admit the scooter just feels more like it’s just you and not a vehicle. Very free feeling

  • @dozzaz
    @dozzaz Před 4 měsíci +2

    I own both - cheap e-scooter and cheap e-bike. The former one is just so much fun to ride, however, it tuck some practice to feel confident on a e-scooter and bike feels much more natural. Scooter requires ideal and predictable travel conditions - something as small as 4cm curb can send you flying, so wearing helmet is a must... Bike, on the other hand, can handle poor road conditions more easily - it can climb curbs, feels more stable, bigger wheels slip less when its wet etc. I can ride more relaxed, not to think about every little peace of debris on the road. Also night-time riding feels much safer due to same reasons. So what's not great about ebike? Its size and weight. In Lithuania we must come off the bike or scooter when crossing the road (driving is not allowed in almost all cases). So hopping on and off scooter is as easy as taking a step. The same on the bike requires, well, lifting your leg over, sitting down to pedal. Imagine doing this every 500 meters. My commute also includes taking pedestrian crossing under the street level and my lightweight 15 kg scooter is clearly winning this vs 21kg bike.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Před 4 měsíci

      Those are great points! Do you have bicycle lanes in Lithuania or do bikes use the paths as people walking?

  • @FubarMike
    @FubarMike Před 7 měsíci +6

    I have that exact ebike and I love it. I tried a lime scooter once and really didn't like it. Even the slightest jut in the pavement and you're going down. I also have balance issues on a scooter. I've had some close calls on my ebike but no major crashes where as every time I got on a scooter I wiped out at some point in the ride.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Před 7 měsíci +3

      Yah with scooters you really do have to watch closely for imperfections in the road given the smaller tires. With a bike a pot hole might be an inconvenience, but for a scooter it could be a launching pad for a super man flying scene audition haha.

      Hello! I would say E-bikes are the safer option given their larger tires. They aren’t as fun in my opinion, but they are the safer option. They also face fewer restrictions. For example, in the city I live in, it’s illegal to use an e-scooter in the bike lane, but completely legal in the city across the street from me.

    Yes bikes offer a better ride and you can get exercise but the small form factor of a scooter means you can easily take a taxi bus ect or just throw it in a small car or rv and go on a trip. Love my ebike so much but its so inconvenient to travel with as it curently dosent fit in my car and a stap on bike rack with a 100lb bike is not ideal. You can also fit the scooter in a small closet standing up or under a high couch or table.

It also works out core and lower body. Boy, was I sore after my first few days eskating. Of course, there are more risks on an eskate in the sense that there's no handlebar, but it's not really that much riskier than an escooter. Oh, and it's much easier to fit a skateboard in a trunk or the backseat of a car than an ebike or escooter, even if it's a foldable bike or scooter. I used to use my escooter all the time and going 40-45mph was super fun, but it's much more fun to go 25mph and carve around on an eskate. It also looks a lot cooler.
