    I have the 1zzfe here in the US. I also changed my intake manifold to the newer plastic one with bigger throttle body like you did. It made the top end better! I enjoy working on these corollas. I've heard that the newer 03-08 corollas have better parts, so I'm always looking for parts in junkyards. Next thing I want to do is rear disc brake conversion. love your videos! keep on moding!

    Did you get the car remapped to suit the injectors or did the ECU throw up any issues that needed computer being looked at? Also, i run a home made foam panel filter and stock exhaust, if i change the exhaust to something more free flowing, will i notice much of a difference? (other than noise)

    • @schtekar
      @schtekar  Před 5 lety +4

      Thanks for watching! I've had no tune or other work done to it and had no fault codes after the mods. This was basically a plug and play mod, with immediate results! My understanding is that the 3zz and 4zz ECUs are self learning and will adjust accordingly when these parts are fitted.
      It's true what you're saying about little info on this, I did all the digging I could before doing it and I think there is just two forum posts out there discussing this that I know of. If I remember correctly there will be no trouble if you change both injectors and throttle body + intake, but it will throw a check engine light and a fault code if you do just one of the two (1zz TB won't fit a 4zz intake so you cant do just the TB). If you run 1zz injectors on 4zz intake and TB it will show a fault code and vice versa (I haven't tried but it's what I've come to understand from the forum posts, I could be wrong). Also, I think I could get some more power from a proper tune, but the cost is so high in this country 😬
      As for the exhaust mods, I'm still running the stock one so I have no idea, might be a future project! If you do it I'd love to see a video 😃😃

      Hey and thank you! From what I've heard from people smarter than me, you change both the throttle body and the injectors to keep the air/fuel mixture relationship constant, and the ECU just goes with it and you're on your way without any fault codes. Doing just injectors or just intake+tb will mess with the mixture relationship and you'll get a fault code. And the induction filter is for better noise yes, the stock airbox makes it sound like it doesn't like being revved, and over like 5k rpm it sounds like you're causing damage to the engine. Even though you say that it is not a guide, the video is immensely useful, because when you look at the forums where this mod is discussed, no one is giving any part numbers or anything. Because you showed every part in the video, is makes it much easier, when looking for the parts, so you can actually see the mating surfaces and stuff like this. and then as a bonus the video is funny.
    I know it is over a year since you made this video, if it's not too much trouble, could you let me know what the size of silicone hose you bought?
    Since you showed at 3:53 that you bought 3" and it looked like it was too small, I'm guessing you bought 3,125'' (80mm).
    I tried another solution by using the stock filter box, but it is located awkwardly when you take the new throttle body location into account, and it doesn't sound as good.

      There is one small obstacle for the e11s actually! The connector for the throttle position sensor is different from e11 to e12, so throttle body isn't 100% plug and play.
