HD: Aboard the Amtrak California Zephyr #6 - Part 3 of 3 - Lincoln, NE - Aurora, IL

On the third day of our trip on Amtrak's California Zephyr, we wake up in Lincoln, NE several hours late, Lincoln, NE is normally a stop at 3:20am, but we can see the sun coming up in the sky. The tardiness is due to an engine under-performing on Day 1 and having to tack on a rescue engine from Union Pacific. As we travel through Middle America, we pass through the vast amount of farm fields and cities along the way. We cross the Platte River, Missouri River, and the Mississippi River, dodge several tornado warnings and make our way back to BNSF's Race Track to Chicago.
Our arrival back at Chicago, IL was just after 9pm, when we were originally scheduled for an arrival of 2:50pm. We were able to make the cross-platform transfer to Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited which will be the fifth and final leg of our Cross Country Amtrak Journey - Watch for a one part video of Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited next week!
