Imagine being some nobody Playtonic Games employee spending so much hard work and effort to the biggest point possible only to get trashed on by people that are assuming it's bad because of how underwhelming the first was.
I never got a chance to play the first, and when it came out all I heard was good reviews then recently I started hearing "oh it doesn't live up to banjo" or something along those lines, and now it's a side scroller?
This series has made me very confused

1. Former RARE employees wanted to revive collectable platformer genre
2. They did like an Indiegogo thing to raise money to make the game
3. The game got above average or good reviews which seems fine
4. Playtonic was disappointed with the reception it got and decided to change the sequel
5. And then the sequel turned into a DKC styled game getting better reviews.

It does look promising. And that music I picked up on sounds like it has improved from the first one.
This looks like a game I can actually enjoy.
I'm really glad the developers took a step back and tried to create something simpler than a 3D platformer. I am optimistic for this game, it gives me heave tropical freeze vibes and it also has trowzer in it
Maybe someday we can get a Yooka-Laylee 2 or a Yooka-Laylee remake when the developers feel they can finally accept something of that caliber

There are similarities to DKC but they're only superficial at best, the game itself plays out very differently from DKC.
