    For this project video, I wanted to make something that Carolina shoes could use as a gift with purchase, so I made 30 can cozies using leather that I got from Weaver leather. As usual it was a learning experience in wet molding and having the leather dried around the cans. I use Adobe Illustrator to make the file are used and my Full Spectrum laser to cut the leather. And the leather I used was 6-7 ounce vegtan leather.

    Gotta love a walking foot sewing machine, loadsa sewing power! I know a swanky leather worker. He uses glass plate to cut on, he said it stops the blade going blunt when I asked?!

    That is the most gentlemanly way to drink beer I’ve ever seen. 🧐
    My favorite part is how she closed the stitch so it didn’t fray and she didn’t have to make them separately. That’s expert level stuff.

    I live here in eastern NC for over 2 decades. The number of folks escaping the north east is staggering. So many NY, NJ CT plates, real estate getting gobbled up fast...... Refugees from California.... etc. Stories they tell me are heartbreaking. Great work JD !! Beautiful stuff! never disappointed !

    Woah funny coincidence, I actually started making a leather can cozy a couple days ago for my bro who had an accident at work and broke his finger! I'm using a strap instead of finger holes though since he can't grip very well right now.

    Those look really cool. You can make something similar with old wetsuits, a couple cupholders per arm. Super useful (and free) for the hot tropical weather

    Hey Jimmy, in an old shop tour and tips&tricks video you showed how to stitch a wound shut with string and crazy glue... It is such an amazing trick. I have recently used it a bunch since starting Crossfit where my hands are routinely ripped to pieces and struggle to heal fast enough without the wounds opening up... Thanks for all the great content, I hope you see this. :)

    Unfortunately ive learned the hard way making coozies with veg tan, if you dont coat the inside with wax, they will shrink pretty quickly once a can sweats into the inside and is removed before leather dries again. Repeated times of this happening the leather dries and starts getting brittle. Have to keep them well conditioned.
