    Hello Syed Muzammil,
I am an Indian Engineer 55 years old.....but am really satisfied watching your video. I have seen the days of Zia-ul-Haq, I was a born in 1967. My entire life ... I was expecting somebody to analyze the wrong doings of this dictator. He really ruined Pakistan, and introduced hatred in Pakistan's people about India. To this hatred, from Pakistan, there are many Indians who are unknowingly (or knowingly) following the path of this dictator....I wished there was friendship and brotherhood between Indians and Pakistanis.....sadly....I will NOT get a chance to see this in my lifetime.
But always good wishes to all the people who are working towards this friendship.

I was born almost 11 years after the birth of Pakistan. I can remember things as far as when I was 2 and a half and 3 years old. Son, the darkest day was not July 5 but December 16, 1971 in the history of. Pakistan. One of the reason Zia is praised is due to his efforts to stop USSR, which invaded Pakistan. India at that time was in Russian block. So the plan was to take Pakistan and Russia to have access to warm waters and whole area would be in Russian block. I was 13 living in Model Town Lahore in 1971 in 8th grade. I still remember. I also witnessed the day Mr Buhtto was hung. I prayed his name e Jinaza on the Mall road Lahore, Just outside of Nasir Bagh in front of Lahore museum while there was heavy tear gas and bullets bing fired. I have also received a medal from Zia while in the medical school. As a Physician I also protested against Zia's referendum. Nawaz Sharif's supporters backed by police brutally hit us. I was a medical resident in Chicago when Zia's plane crashed which also killed high ranking US officials. I was in school when Nwaz sharif was a student in the college. A very ordinary businessman. There was a huge conspiracy from the beginning of Pakistan. I am a retired invasive Gastroenterologist living in Dallas, Tx. Every day I cry for my beloved Pakistan. These forces are recreating an other 1971. It hurts. I can write a chapter if not a book. Es ghar ko aag lag gaye ghar ke cgrigh se. May Allah, bless and Protect Pakistan from the enemies from outside and from the enemies from within. May Allah protect IK and give him "courage to shake the hands of murders" of Pakistan. Ameen.

I also want to add a few points about Zia.
He married the two nation theory with Islam. Therefore to be a good Muslim, you had to be a good Pakistani, and be anti India. India was Hindu and the concept of Indian Muslims was obscured.
Books and curriculums were changed and made the father of Pakistan M A Jinnah, a devout and religious man who wore the Sherwani. Also books mentioning that he ate pork and bacon and drank alcohol (in fact alcohol was very popular in Pakistan before it was banned and many leaders, army chiefs, politicians, and elite and middle class used to indulge in it socially).
But all these factors were expunged.
So Zia basically created a serious identity crisis among the youth in Pakistan. Little was it known that Indian Muslims had a huge and vast population and that they were very patriotic to India, even among those living in the diaspora and expatriate communities in countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Gulf etc.

Obviously as students of history we know that Islamization is rooted in times prior to Zia. A country, in Jinnah's rhetorical terms, which was meant to be a laboratory for all kinds of versions of Islam had to have total ambivalence as far as ideological dimensions are concerned. Bhutto didn't leave a stone unturned to appease the Mullahs as well. Did 2nd amendment which marginalized an entire peaceful community, banned alcohol, shifted weekly holiday to Friday but he still got lynched on the pretext of the coercion created by the same mullahs. This video was Zia specific because of the anniversary of the martial law so debate had to start with him. Secondly, the militarization of seminaries and indoctrination through massive manipulation of curriculum along with Kalashnikov culture and the elevation of clerics to the higher most positions of Shariat Court etc was unprecedented. All heads of the state did legislate in the name of Islam to appease the Mullahs but i would still say, Zia was the worst villain in our entire history since the civil society still hasn't recovered from the dent he subjected it to.

The reason is that while Pakistan refused its original identity, India is trying to reclaim the original identity which was subdued badly by the British on purpose in order to make Indians ashamed of themselves. India is reviving its cultural identity for a more unified India while not giving up its present heterogeneity, whereas Pakistan killed its original cultural identity to create a new foreign one which could only lead to disaster, and it actually did.

@@anantharamanmr Probably, but Syed seems very wise and I am sure he thinks critically. I hope he's not subconsciously getting biased by his own religion and upbringing. Now, we ourselves may be subconsciously biased. But having lived in various countries for over a decade, I have seen our countries and its countrymen from various angles, seen and worked with people from Western countries and Russia, and I can tell you that Indians are biased in their own ways, but not in the religious ways that Pakistanis think that Indians are biased by. Syed should understand this. All such conditioning should go away in this life - that is the point of taking birth. We should grow by learning from each other, reach the pinnacle of self knowledge and leave with happiness.
But that is a near impossibility for Pakistanis.

You have stated the facts and after listening to this i observed that really the most of the people I met that were born during the zia regime they are indeed the most mentally twisted one I have met and I have found such a perfect example in my family. My family is word to word misogynists,I'll minded, delusionals and sick ones who are far apart from the doctrine of religion.

Being an indian I welcome ur critical view because history is for learning from other's mistakes whomever they are. While i have full faith in our culture which promotes critical thinking from day one. But you are right a check and balance is definitely required to ensure we do not land at a juncture of No return situation.
