The best I have seen on CZcams about taking photos with MA2
Many thanks,
I appreciate!
This is hands down the best video I've seen on the MA2's photographic capabilities. Just brilliant.
Excellent job. Thank you.
highly informative review about MA2 photography. thank you
This is amazing! Grazie maestro!
Thanks for the decent information, i like the way you set your videos and the way you speak!
Thank you! Great informative video. I had no idea how to do the panorama and 360 before seeing this.
Many thanks Nick,
I was really impressed by the panorama modes, although I was not taking them seriously at first
Thank you for the candid and honest review. I love flying the Air 2 and so far pleased with the video quality but am a much more passionate still photographer and you don’t see many reviews focused on still shots, so thank you. Look forward to trying out some of your suggestions as well.
Thank you Tarek,
I agree with you, there aren-t many reviews about photography with drones
Thank you! A much welcomed, well produced, researched video which is so useful to me - excellent!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excuse me. I cannot take your comment serious with that profile picture...
very informative, love the accent and a nikon user as well👍
Bravo, a photographers point of view about the MA2 at last. Happily with no mention of the usual video capabilities that us photographers arnt at all interested in. Super vlog, best yet on CZcams for the MA2 😉
Good video, thanks !
That was solid, exactly what I needed as a new MA2 owner.. got a decent overview of the advantages of the different camera-settings and overall pro & cons.
Well done channel holder, that was an informative-vid that came across honest and unbias.(thx+1)
Cheers from Denmark.
you tell the truth man.. I love what you review, I'm new your
subscriber
Very interesting! Thanks!
really appreciate this video mate!! many great insights you've shared :)
Many thanks Jack!
Nice comparison! Thanks
Many thanks!
Thank you very interesting.
Thanks for the video and helpful insights. I purchased the Air 2 a few weeks ago as my first drone, so I am on a learning curve and enjoying the experience. I also have the Nikon D850 and 500. I have been trying most of the settings and finding the 48mp quality better than the 12mp. I mostly shoot low light sunrises and sunsets and have been shooting in Auto but have just change my settings to manual. I have done 2 x 360 degree panoramas the first one over a lagoon was nearly perfect the next over a bay with wharves was not so good with joins out of whack. My 180 panorama over the sea wasn't good either. I will keep working on those. I use Lightroom and a few tips I can pass on that I am finding useful if they are helpful are Topaz DeNoise for any that are too noisy and I have just tried downsizing to 4000 on the long side for my stock sites for a better quality image. May try 6000 as well and decide which produces the best quality for the 48mp photo for a stock site however it may come down to a photo by photo judgement. Video quality has been pretty good and the different perspectives to normally standing on the shore has been amazing :-)
I was very tempted by the MP2 and perhaps I should have gone for that larger sensor but I was also scared about completely destroying my drone as a novice and $2000 was more than enough to risk, which is what the MVA2 Fly More Combo cost here in Australia. The photos I have taken so far are on Flickr - www.flickr.com/search/?user_id=73561613%40N06&sort=date-taken-desc&view_all=1&text=drone
Good job. I like your photos!
I would start by saying I don't have a Mavic 2 pro, so I have no idea how good it is. But I use my drones for that unusual perspective. By doing this you have already got the viewers attention and the quality doesn't matter so much. Cropping into a drone shot is crazy, when you could have just flown closer in most cases. I have a Mpro and now the air 2 I think the image quality on both video and stills is better and most importantly easier to obtain.
Hi Chris,
yes, a moving camera up in the sky gives excellent points of view
so useful! subscribed :)
So useful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you very much for your comprehensive, insightful review. Of course, as a Nikon D810 DSLR user myself, it is totally unreasonable to expect even remotely similar output from the stills the Mavic Air 2 produces. The noise in the Air 2 image is absurdly high, but when one considers sensor size and quality, along with Nikkor lenses costing as much, if not an awful lot more than the Air 2 Drone itself, that's inevitable. Buy the Air 2 by all means (I did) but don't expect image quality to come even close: it's an aircraft with a little compact camera attached. It scores high only in that regard - BUT it's a whole new world! Now, if it could carry my Nikon DSLR on its back, all would be perfect! As always, we can't have everything can we? And BTW, 48MPx image mode is a total waste of storage space - a marketing gimmick, as you say. The panorama's look promising for huge prints however. Best wishes, Ant.
Late to the party but I took a picture in standard and in 48mp and when looking at the pictures on my 4K tv seemed to notice a much higher resolution when zoomed in and couldn’t zoom in as much on the standard as I could on the 48. Only one picture though so could be misjudging based on a limited sample size.
You are awesome.
Thanks for the explanation, most of the videos are about air2 and vids. Fortunately now a real topic. I do think you cannot compare the air2 with the Nikon D850 (which I also own). For the rest, thank you very much. This made my choice very easy and now I have a new Air2.
Thank you for this video, excellent work. I find myself using only normal (12MP mode) with either a single exposure or AEB. Since I'm also shooting video while in the air I use a polarizing filter to help manage the light. I find the sensor on the Air 2 is very different to the original Air in terms of the characteristic tone curves I get in my RAW files. This all seems to wash out in Lightroom though - I just developed a new set of techniques to deal with the new sensor. For still photography, I'm pleased with the drone. But, for video I'm THRILLED because flight is much more stable and smooth than the original Air. The video image quality is also superb and I have been wondering if the changes I see in the sensor output are a bias DJI induce to support better video. Thanks again!
nice
Best explanation😎
Thanks 🙂
Hi Vic, thanks for these awesome videos! I am really enjoying them and learning alot. Just curious, do you use the Litchi app for waypoint missions? If so, please send me a link to any tutorials you may have. Thank you!!
Thank you Danielle,
I have not used Litchi so far, but I am thinking of trying the new version for the Mini 2, in which case I will certainly make a video review
Thanks for these great videos! I'm Italian too, but I'll write in English since you do too :) I'm a professional architecture photographer and I often use the drone for some outdoor shots. I use a Mavic Air (first version) and also shooting in raw (in multiple exposure mode, 5 shots to be exact), when I edit the photos in lightroom (exposure merge) I always notice a small, but annoying red cast that I have to remove in PS. I am aware that the sensor of the Mavir Air is inferior to the Mavic Air 2, and therefore I ask you: has the sensor of the new Mavic Air 2 made significant improvements? I consider the Mavic Air in my possession an honest drone, but not sufficient to obtain professional-level photographs (for resolution, optical quality and RAW rendering). Goodbye and thanks!
Great video. I purchased the Air2, my 1st drone, to expand my landscape (still) photography possibilities. My findings with the Mavic Air 2 match yours exactly. I was not expecting results to compare with my full frame dSLR's but I was hoping that the 48MP would be substantially better than the 12MP shots. In some images the 48MP may have very slightly more detail, maybe??? I believe that the 48MP is just a marketing ploy. Unfortunately it worked on me, I should have waited and got the Mavic 2 Pro. Wish this video was out a month ago. Loving the ability to have a very tall and mobile tripod though. Waiting to see what the M3P will be like.
Thank you,
I agree with you about the 48MP mode, but for the rest the Air 2 is a very capable drone for photography, much, much better than the Mavic models other than the M2P.
I am very intrigued by the Hyperlight function
@@VICVideopIC bro i want to know just something is this dron is the best than the other dji models please answer
@@Dr.Yahia9 Inspire 2 > Mavic 2 pro > Mavic air 2 > Mavic Mini
And then the other dji drones I don't know enough about
So, use Smart photo over HDR or single or 48?
Very thorough investigation and interesting results. No way a consumer drone can compete with a professional DSLR camera but they are getting better.
Many thanks,
I perfectly agree, but drones have a bi advantage: they can fly!
@@VICVideopIC A friend of mine has a DSLR on commercial type drone with giant stabilized gimbal. it takes amazing videos. Not as portable but he manages. It's actually a large scale RC helicopter. It now has LED blades on it. You can see it in my channel intro clip here:

Very useful info, for those who choose this drone for photography. Air 2 has its own character, your review allows you to take good pictures right from the first flight. Too bad that the shots at 48mp are bad, I also noticed an increase in digital noise compared to the standard photo, but it has everything else that doesn't joke in relation to the price of the drone is an excellent compromise 😉✌️
Thank you,
I agree, the 48MP is a let down, but otherwise finally a very good drone for photography at a reasonable price.
I am going to experiment with Hyperlight, as it looks like a great technology
👍👍
Great review, but you and I have to disagree on what's "usable" with regard to sensor noise - and for that matter the massive sky rendering errors in pano mode. But, yes, I realise we aren't talking here about a flying DSLR! Best wishes.
Thanks,
I agree with you. Impossible to compare a drone to a DSLR with proper lenses
Hi Vic what PC program do you use for editing your drone pics & videos
Hi,
for photo I use Lightroom and occasionally Photoshop.
For video Premiere and After Effects, even though I am getting more and more interested in DaVinci Resolve
VIC VideopIC ...hey Vic thank u for the quick reply.. like your videos very their informative I’m gonna try to get my part 107 certificate since I have real estate friends that want to use me for $250 Per listing but I’m only using DJI FLY APP since I have the Mavic mini & Air 2. I’m going to start using the PC , I will be looking at Lightroom, this is all new to me but practice practice right lol thanks again. Will be looking at your videos 👍
Nice review
Many thanks
@@VICVideopIC your thoughts? I shoot a five shot ae and send to photoshop merge hdr 32 bit and safe as a tiff and then open up that 32 bit tiff image in camera raw for edit
can u tell what the size of the different panoramas?
21 shots/28 MP??? why not taking it urself thanmake ur own pano with lightroom?
Once in flight, select Pano, and then click on the 3 dots in the upper right, and select the Camera submenu. You'll see that there are now three options for the Panorama Photo Type/originals, which is set to OFF by default. Select either JPG or RAW to save 26 the originals in a PANORAMA subfolder on the microSD card.
Thanks for the video.
I analyzed many RAW photos of the Air 2 in Lightroom. I found that the photos (jpg) of the Mavic Mini (in Lightroom slightly modified), are much better than the photos of the Air 2 ! These photos are more watercolor and not sharp!
Thanks for the info!
Hello very interesting video you made !!? I'm 63 years old living in Iran!! Very interested in this kind of magic air but with what is going on with the world!!? I'm so broke!!? Do you have any giveaway cameras!? Thank you so much.
Hi, I'm a professional photographer (working in stock photography business) and try to get in this aerial photography. As a beginner in drones I'm using Mavic Air Fly Combo. Not good for photography. And I was just going to buy a Mavic Air 2 drone nowadays because of that 48 mp trick :) I watched your video now and I totally changed my mind. Thank you for this detailed video. As a photographer I will save for the Mavic 2 Pro I think. Or what else..? By the way, I did my support by subscribing. ;) Cheers
Many thanks,
if you are a professional photographer, the Mavic 2 Pro is the way to go.
The Mavic Air 2 is really good for prosumer use in photo. The other Mavic models are way behind
Load that Sphere Pano into Google Photos to view it as it should be.... you can thank me now :-)
I know, but to be honest I often prefer the flat traditional view
Except the the wonky sky where the camera can't get to... Maybe a crop is in order if that's what you prefer....
Are you italian? 🇮🇹
Si, ciao Mattia
@@VICVideopIC I was also going to ask if you are Italian, I love your accent :)
I'm on Florida in the USA and I want to visit your beautiful country one day!

This is the same hype that phone manufactures use to sell their "high resolution" camera phones. Smaller sensor than the drones with huge 48+ numbers on their ads for their sensors. But, people fall for it and pat themselves on the back for paying twice what they would for an actual camera.
My Air2 48MP photos are much better than 12Mp ones and not darker !
As a professional you have to know strong and weak sides of your gear. If you're asking too much from tiny drone sensor it's your problem not drone's one.
All I want is a m43 sensor in that thing. Anything smaller is pure crap for serious photography
Lol! This guy speaks exactly like iPhoneodo
