    G’day Laz,
    I really enjoy your videos. I find it really interesting to see how other people farm squab. In Australia there’s not that many farmers, I’d love to connect with you and if you are ever thinking of coming to Australia you’ll definitely have to come to our farm,
    Andrew.

    Great Videos man...raised pigeons as a kid, never ate them or tried squab. When raised as pets, and as a kid I never thought about them as a sustainable meal. Im more utilitarian now and thinking about how many pounds I can produce a year. Thinking of an Free Range/Open coup that I can harvest from...using white pigeons. I do like seeing them fly

  • @sylviabrunner5121
    @sylviabrunner5121 Před 2 lety +2

    Thanks Laz, that one helped a lot! An unrelated (maybe) question: we have a mixed flock: a couple of utility kings, couple of French mondains, a few ferals and lots of crosses between the three varieties. They don't seem to be as placid as the ones you have (yours all seem to be pretty relaxed in the coop); ours are OK for most of the day, but morning and evening the males all get tetchy and squabble amongst themselves and do the equivalent of barroom shoving (or something). Do you think we've overcrowded our coop? There are currently nine pairs in a coop that's 12 x 9 x 7 feet. Again, many thanks for all your videos and guidance!

    • @lazdelgado4377
      @lazdelgado4377  Před 2 lety +3

      I think your coop is large enough males will fight if they do not have females sometimes the males just need to figure out the pecking order or sometimes they fight over nest boxes as long as none of your birds are being injured most of the time they will figure it out females and nesting boxes is primarily what they fight over as long as they have easy access to food and water Thanks for the comment

    How many pairs do you have to have be profitable

    • @lazdelgado4377
      @lazdelgado4377  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s hard to make money when you’re buying Feed in Sacks you need to buy it in bulk by the ton you will cut your feed prices by 50% and then you need to make sure your pears are reproducing at a reasonable rate
      If you are buying feed by the sack you just need to make sure you are getting more money for your Squab to compensate for your feed costs there are people who have 2000 pair who breakeven and some folks have 500 pair and make a profit it depends on your flock management
      more pairs do not equal more money if they’re not reproducing
