    In this video I'm showing you how to make an Outdoor Lounge Chair, that would work great indoors too! It can even be modified to be a sofa. This chair is a wonderful blend of modern design with a relatively easy DIY approach, and affordable too. The material is easily accessible and you can build it in a weekend for a fraction of the cost of a store bought chair. Build a comfortable chill spot that satisfies those dreamy modern, midcentury lines.

    Thanks for the tip for backing up the board for the lap joint. I’m about to do that for a gate I’m making for my dog and this tip will come in handy. I’m also considering adapting this chair design into more of a couch, 3 cushions wide. We’ve been looking at outdoor furniture and the prices are outrageous for pretty bland stuff so I’m considering your design.

    I love cedar but it is expensive in the UK I am planning on making a three piece suite similar to this but for indoors in the Philippines. We don't have cedar here but we have a slightly harder wood red lawaan. Difficulty getting wood here because of logging bans so I may just suck it up on the hardness. I think if you can get away with half lap joints in a project you should, you can basically walk them into place. Take a bit of wood off until you get them to fit perfectly.

  • @alihasanpourpazevari2735

    nice

  • @DavidPaulNewtonScott
    @DavidPaulNewtonScott Před 2 lety

    Your crack joining glue looks just the job for an idea I have wanted to do for a while. Here so here goes get some green wood and machine it roughly to the desired shape. Deliberately dry it the wrong way put it out in the sun or in and oven and dry it in a couple of hours. It will end up full of splits and shakes. Now fill them all with you glue but with added epoxy resin colours I would go for black or clear red. You are going to end up with some sort of spalting effect. If anyone asks you what it is make up a name like the rare New Hampshire Red Speckle Maple.

      @MakerGray  Před rokem +1

      Just used the dimensional cedar. Thanks!

  • @Burritosarebetterthantacos

    The CB2 chairs are actually a decent deal when you factor in that they are Teak which is a hardwood vs Cedar which is not. When you consider the cost of cedar, the time invested, and the cost of either buying or making cushions the $799 becomes more attractive. Cedar is prone to splitting and will need considerably more maintenance. Good job anyways👍

      I'm surprised people are actually still making this exact type of comment, especially considering that this project could easily be done with just a circular saw (which you can find used for like $10 on local markets). But what's so bad about a person using the tools they have? Sure, it's instructional content but there are many, many ways to do things in woodworking

    • @MakerGray
      @MakerGray  Před 2 lety +1

      @@TracksWithDax That's exactly how I see it. Just because I might use a miter saw for one cut doesnt mean it couldn't be cut with a different saw. The point is just to show how I did it and hopefully inspire anyone that they can do it too with whatever tools they might have. Thanks!
