It’s not that he lost it’s the way he lost, he felt a few hard shots n made a choice early on to lose by decision
Callum Smith is big, strong, skilled, hard puncher, reach and height advantage, experienced and certainly has a chance...But Beterbiev is high level pressure fighter, destructive fighter...operates at a suffocating distance and angles, and the weight of punches and being surrounded, destabilises you physically and mentally. Beterbiev is a more skilled and heavier handed version of Golovkin. Smith has his defeat to Canelo that may have been due to being drained at lower weight, and short prep...and Beterbiev has been put on the canvas and has made harder work of some fighters lesser than Smith...but I still see Beterbiev shocking Smith with his skills, pressure and heavy hands.
Smith can't fight really small fighters. Lost to Canelo and Ryder. He has a chance against Beterbiev and obviously has the punching power. He should be a cruiserweight
Callum Smith should be fighting Chris Billam Smith. Put on 1.5 stone and fight him
People judge smith on his super middle weight worste performance against canelo! He's not a natural super middle weight he's the same size as an average heavyweight! When he moves up weights he will settle to his natural weight! If canelo fought Smith at cruiser weight do people really think it would be the same fight?
It's not just height that dictates your weight class. Smith is an Ectomorph, he's very long and lean.

@@The-realist89 Weight and short camp almost certainly had a big part to play but I was surprised how gun shy he was in the fight, he didn't let his hands go at all, he just jabbed and it was a pretty awful effort in such a high profile fight for him.

Callum Smith at his best has a decent chance of beating anyone, he can literally end a fight with a single shot and if he gets any opponent in trouble he does not let them off the hook, he is a great finisher . . . very foolish to write off his chances of success here.

But Beterbiev is high level in his pressure, movement and accumulative power...my main concern for Beterbiev is his age now...Callum SMith might win rounds with his jab and straight right...he might also throw dangerous uppercuts as Beterbiev tends to lean forward with his head down, but I can see Beterbiev finding the angles with his lateral movement...I make Beterbiev the favourite but Smith certainly has a chance.
