Joe has to box for 8 rounds then put his foot on the pedal. Its about who has the better cardio and Will to win in this fight. I believe Joe has almost as much power. @max headroom I disagree. I think the Bivol fight would be pretty similar to the Gvodzyk one. Think Bivol would get into an early lead using his one two and movement but he would still be taking shots to the arms and body. By around round 7 he’d start slowing down and Beterbiev would start beating him up and Ko him toward the end. Beterbiev is a class boxer with a better amateur record than Bivol. People forget that.

First let me say I'm an extremely avid fan of this matchup. I've kept a close eye on Beterbiev ever since he's gone unnoticed like a hidden treasure. The man had no proper exposure as an elite level fighter after all these years. Both are unassuming, kindly warriors that you cannot possibly dislike in any way!!! Let the war begin!

He doesn’t have their power, but his boxing skill is so many levels beyond theirs that it doesn’t matter. Smith jr and Beterbiev are basically CARBON COPIES of each other. Both guys have the same half-full shuffle to get inside. Both guys have shit head movement. Break their own bases when punching. Leave themselves open to counters when working their way in. The same dominance that Bivol put on Smith he’d put on Beterbiev. Whoever wins this fight is going to need to learn the boxing they never did in their 30+ years prior, or pray on a miracle they catch Bivol asleep for a second with a loaded shot. If not, we’ll see Haney v Kambosos at light heavyweight where Bivol will be Haney dominating whichever of the 2 he fights

Obviously Joe has a punchers chance but I think Beterbiev will stop him in round 5 or 6. Beterbiev has learnt from the Callum Johnson fight. He started brawling and got caught which almost cost him. Once he recovered from the knockdown he went to his boxing and surgically took Johnson apart. He’ll do the same to Joe Smith I think.
The most overlooked division in boxing (maybe until recent canelo loss). Bivol, Beterbiev, Zurdo, Callum Smith, Joe Smith Jr., soon Benavidez?, Canelo, Buatsi. Each of those styles would be incredible wars with one another. Especially those first 3.

The way that Beterbiev implements his strength training is very calculated. Even with the big weights, he's still keeping in mind repetition & like how his S&C coach mentioned shoulder stabilization. Definitely one of the physically strongest fighters in sport that's not a HW.
@Racer it takes years to build up the tendon strength to even hit close to these weights. The man had 80lb dumbells in his hands doing rotation execises. Who can do that just like that?

I've been impressed with Top Rank's ESPN's recent "Blood, Sweat and Tears" series. Production quality high and up there with Showtime, DAZN even the UFC. But I personally think this fight card would've been better held in Europe or The U.K. but it should still be a good one anyway

Joe smith is a physical freak! Never went down let alone KOed despite fighting twice with a broken jaw and can throw 800-900 punches without tiring. He might also have a bigger nuclear bomb in his right hand than Artur does, and Beterbiev has been knocked down twice by smaller punchers than Smith jr. Exciting fight and will not be easy for anyone involved.

The amount of power Beterbiev generates with 7-10 inch punches is frightning. Smith's power requires too much space and time, he will be hesitent to throw the shots he usually does.
