- Despite losing my DJI Mini 2 drone I still had a wonderful camp with good friends,
We motorcycled to camp a distance of 45 miles and camped overnight in an ancient Woodland owned by my friend Steve.
I took both my candle lanterns with me, The Stonebridge automatic and the Swiss Army candle lantern to compare them.
Cooked a steak on the coals. Wonderful.
I hope you enjoy the video:)
Music used in the video was all from the CZcams Audio library
Land of my fathers-The 126ers
Dude where's my horse- Mat Keith with the bow ties
Musicbox- Brian Bolger
I think that's it but I may have forgotten one or two tracks! All creative commons music - Zábava
Thanks again to Steve for letting us visit! And I am not really that callous about Sandy’s drone but sometimes you have to laugh in the face of adversity!
Hahaa, don't worry mate, when it comes to drones sooner or later a crash will happen, just have to put it behind me and carry on. I'll get another when the time is right
Morning Sandy nice to chug out again on what he does best moto camping love it🏕️
RIP Drone, only a month til Autumn starts, so you might not have used the drone too many more time this year anyway. Lovely weather, we are lucky if we get a nice nice day lately, seems rain and ominous clouds are the order of the season! Be well
I can fly a done all year round if the weather is calm Bry, it's a great tool but comes with risks:)
Steve is a kind man and he's lucky to have his own wood. Shame about your drone I hope you can recover it from the lake.
All the best and I hope I can join you on a camp one day.
He's a great chap Kerri and has a very special woodland. As for the drone it's not worth the effort to retrieve it, it lies in about 6ft of very murky stagnant water and i'm fairly certain it's toast
@@WiltshireMan WRONG. Even if it had been under 6ft of very murky water, I wouldn't have been surprised to see you turn up in a Frogman's suit and retrieve it. I still want to know how you got that gash on your hooter. 😉👍
Life is good on a motorbike, even better on a motorbike and in a tent with good weather. thanks for sharing.
Life is always better on two wheels:)
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along. Cheers!
What a lovely looking camp, think I need some of that outdoors medicine myself. I remember the TV series Victorian Kitchen Garden, found it fascinating and even tried some of the ideas with my allotment many years ago. There was also another series with the same characters called War Time Kitchen Garden, that was just as interesting.
I've seen both those programmes Andy:)
So sorry you lost your drone, I hope you get another one soon.
thank you-fantastic recording~ see you soon. Wiltshire!📢
Just love your driving tours! Sorry to hear about your drone, but hey, mistakes teach us which means it was a lesson :)
I like the Stonebridge also. Really nice place to wild camp! I wish I knew someone here in Germany that had a bit of land to do the same thing. Until then, got to keep it stealthy :) Stay safe and healthy!
I learned something about life Dan, the drone has had its first and it's last flight. That applies to a lot of things in life including life it's self. The thing is we never know when the last flight will be, it comes out of the blue!
@@WiltshireMan And another chapter in the book of life!
Another calm trip out - apart from the drone of course... On the bright side you had great weather!
Hahaa yes the weather was good, did rain a bit in the morning though
Sandy regarding Chilton Foliat - In September 1943, the US 101st Airborne Division took over part of Littlecote House in Chilton Foliat, and it became home to regimental staff, regimental headquarters company, and headquarters company of the 1st Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. The house provided office space and sleeping quarters for officers of the 506th, with the best rooms being allocated to Col. Robert F. Sink, regimental commander, and Lt. Col. Charles H. Chase, his executive officer.[8] The colonel used the library as his office, and a memorial plaque can be seen today in this room.
Thanks for the info Geoff
I do enjoy your rides through beautiful Wiltshire I love the villages, what a treat to see. Thank you.
Thanks Linda, we do have some lovely villages close to home
Really enjoyable video, heading away on your motorcycle with friends, camping out and having nice food and a good campfire chat , couldn't think of a better way to spend a day! Hopefully someone will send you a drone, love watching videos with drone footage. Thank you.
Thanks, good company on a camp is always welcome, hopefully I'll have another drone again one day
Hello again Sandy!!! As always, I love your video!!! You are such an influence to me!!! Much love and respect from Bronston, Kentucky USA... I really like those baker style tents, I have the highly controversial Pomoly Stove Hut 70!!! 😁😁 But I actually love mine, I guess I got lucky and bought a good one on the 1st release. Cheers mate!!!
Thanks Redman, I have no experience of Pomoly but mostly what I've heard has been OK. It will soon be hot tent weather again
good vid on you travels thanks lee
That's a shame Sandy about the drone because you've had some excellent results, particularly showing the Thames in flood and the ancient settlements. However you still had a positive attitude and seemed to have a good time in spite of the setback! Regards Keith
Hopefully I shall get another drone again at some point Keith
He's learned from me, I have demolished 3 drones to date. 😢
Love the lanterns
Greetings from Glasgow Sandy. Thanks for your videos for letting us see the beautiful English countryside and villages. Stunning. And to end the day with friends, stories in the lantern light. Magical ♥ atb Johnny :)
Thanks Johnny
Thankyou..👍👍👍
Even careful chap like you Sandy can have mishaps, it looked like a nice camp.
Thank you Sandy for sharing a wonderful bike trip with us again👌🏻 You have such beautiful scenic routes, through historic places/villages, to choose from! Sorry for the loss of your drone. I also love minimalistic camping and eating on adventure rides.
Looking forward to the next one, bike or bicycle👍🏻
Thanks Steve!
That’s a lovely woods , you got some good mates , I bet you had a good chat by the fire and you are so setting up and organising your camp 👍🥾🦇🏕️
Great video as always, nice to see folks just out and about.
Thanks Ralph, always good to be "Out for a bit":)
Sorry about the drone Sandy. I hope a manufacturer will send you one. Steve has an awesome bike.
It was pilot error Bill, I doubt very much DJI will be interested in sending me a replacement
This is how I do it too!❤❤👍👍👌👌😊😊
I hope to do some more Moto camps when the weather warms up:)
Another fantastic adventure Sandy-I really enjoyed this 👍👍
Thanks for watching James, didn't find any long barrows in this wood though:)
A bit of bad luck with the drone Sandy. Looks like my sort of trip Motorbikes and camping in woodland. Love it👍🏻
Absolute magic viewing Sandy! Just three old boys out chewing the fat🖤😎👌 Wonderful🤙
Great film with the lads, bikes, camping, fire, great food and good weather. All fantastic, just a downer about the drone. Enjoyed this one, very well done. 👍👍👍
Thanks Chris
Crikey sandy ! You lost your hat, you lost your drone, they say it comes in threes. 😳😳😳😳
Thats the worrying bit Marcus what next? The dog (Zeta) did manage to slip her harness the other week and was gone for over two hours near a busy road but fortunately I found her safe and well. Perhaps thats the last of it for a while?
@@WiltshireMan oh let’s hope so sandy 😊😜
Good to see you again, Sandy. Glad that you and Tony enjoyed the camp. Next time I'm off to the woods I'll take my snorkelling gear . . . you never know!
That would be cool, there is a chance the drone could be returned to DJI for repair (at cost) if such a thing is possible. Let me know when you plan going next and I'll join you for a swim:)
Hubby has the same RE Himalayan. Good little bike.
What a nice wholesome video; lovely motorcycles as well. Liked and Subscribed
Thank you 🤗Mr Nobody:)
Great outing sand. But at least you now own a submadrone 😀
Can't beat a nice Moto camp. 😝
Thanks Aust, yes moto camps are fun:)
And once again a really enjoyable video from your good self, shame about the drone hopefully someone will fix you up with one so you can continue to get those fantastic shots. Take care and see you on the next video, cheers Nige.
That someone will probably be me Nige:)
@@WiltshireMan as you say they do add an important look to videos, I do hope someone will help you sort a new one, fingers crossed for you.
awesume my wifevand I love the videos mate great to see hour wife and mates on here I brought my wife a new bike quad that it for off road yamaha grizzly 700 keep up the good work
Thankyou Lee
Sorry about your drone, Sandy, thought you'd have jumped in to look for it! Hope you soon get lucky with a replacement. Not only did you lose the drone but you rode off leaving your camera behind! A nice campout enjoyed with friends. A.t.b.
I don’t need to remind you Sandy but I’m from Chilton Foliat. Another great video.
Have to add - your editing is beautiful on this video. So relaxing to watch.
Thanks Mark, Chilton Foliat is a lovely place, still looks like it did when Harry was gardening there
Well, that's a pisser, Sandy.
I lost my first "cheap" drone on its third flight, by sending it sideways into a tree above the Royal Military Canal.
Splosh.
Luckily, it was a £100 drone, not my £1,000+ Mavic Pro. The lesson learned was "stay the F away from trees!"
Yes indeed, it was a bit of a lesson to learn but with any drone including your expensive mavic pro always bear in mind it will have a first flight and it will also have a final flight
Hi Sandy. I started watching you channel for hints n tips on my Himmy but love camping too so enjoy all your stuff. The Stonebridge lantern is something I’d seen before but could not put a name to. Having seen yours in action I ordered one straightaway form the US - £52 and £11 P&P. It arrived yesterday and I just love it. What a characterful little item. I have a jeep and portray a US chaplain at military vehicle shows so the lantern will definitely be part in my display and in use at night. Cheers 👍.
Wonderful Chris, glad you got yourself a Stonebridge. I shall be using mine quite a bit this winter
Another very relaxing and entertaining video Sandy. Those old Stonebridge Lanterns are very impressive and functional. I am glad that you were able to show The Stonebridge side by side with the Swiss Lantern in real conditions at a real camp situation. They both did very well but I believe that I would prefer the old Stonebridge to the Swiss also. It is just a beautiful piece of outdoor gear. And good old Chug just did a stunning job of proudly getting you out there to that adventure with friends. Sitting around the campfire with good company while solving the world's problems is the perfect way to relax and unwind. The only downer was the tree that decided to swat your drone down into the water, so sorry for that. Oh well, you did manage to get some great videos from that thing for a number of years, someday you will have another one. See you on the next one my friend.
Thanks Terry yes this was a great camp and we all preferred the Stonebridge, it has a slightly stronger light thanks to the clearer windows and als the built in polished brass reflector. As for the drone it will have to grow a periscope!
So sorry you lost your drone! I would be gutted if I lost mine! I got it in 2019 just before lock down so have never flown it! 😂
Anyway I enjoyed that video drama and all. 👍
Oh no Sandy I’m sorry about the drone. You’ll be pleased to know the sky tractor still manages to get airborne! Needs a new set of batteries however now. I’ve also got a spare M1 steel helmet (Vietnam era) you can have incase of tumbling drones from above!
Haaha Skytractor still alive. Great to hear Andy. Hopefully I'll get another one sooner or later
Another great over nighter in the woods bro, it's a pity those drones do not float. Safe travels. Ken.
Yes Ken it's a shame they don't float on water but only on air
Hi Sandy.
Gillianthepillion and I love to see the bikes loaded and on an adventure.
We hope someone donates a drone so you can keep filming those great shots. 😎👍
Thanks Derek, it's not the end of the world losing my drone, they are replaceable, I'll have to do a bit of overtime to get some spare money together and buy another
Great to see the Himalayan out and about again. Ideal machine for a motocamp. Shame about the drone, some kid in the future might win that doing a bit of magnet fishing! The candle lanterns give a beautiful glow. When I saw the swiss army one on your previous camp and googled them, my eyes popped out on stalks at the price! 😂
Yes they are expensive, perhaps a bit overpriced but well made
Great relaxing film again Sandy. Once again thanks to you I'm into solo motorcycle camping. Your camera works amazing....pity about the drone...interesting to see if they can restore it for you?
Take care
Cheers again Sandy. Your videos are always relaxing to watch and i look forward to the next. i have my own bit of woodland here in Derbyshire and you can't beat woodland overnighters. perhaps you could join me if you are ever Derbyshire way.
I'd love to join you on a camp one day Dave, If I remember I'll message you if and when I'm heading up Derbyshire way
nice 1 Sandy sorry abt ya drone ..you get 1 of them all the utubers are getting to review 🤞🤞 ATVB 🤙👍🏻
Hi Sandy. Thank you mate for another great video. I have just watched your next video where you recovered your drone. I hope that it is repairable at a reasonable cost. As a technician, I realise this is not always realistic, as labour is usually the most expensive part of these repairs. I was pleased to see you have the BCB Mk 2 stove. I purchased both Mk 1 and Mk 2 cook sets. My opinion is, the Mk 1 stove is rubbish, the cup is awesome. The Mk 2 stove is awesome, and the cup is rubbish. LMAO how can they get that wrong? If you haven't realised already a Trangia spirit burner fits perfectly in the Mk 2 stove and is the perfect height to get a good boil for a brew. Best wishes my friend.
Can`t blow the candle out, let me try. Les Dawson
Great video sandy and that's not like you to leave that stick on the ground u lit your stove with . Did you see it flare up again. 😅
I didn't see it at the time but would have noticed if anything had happened. It must have dwindled and died shortly after the clip. We were still there a couple of hours later with light rain so nothing to worry about. Just goes to show even I need to pay more attention at times
👍👌
Tony needs to ride with his headlamp lit..
👍👍
Good to see Chug out for a bimble Sandy.
Chug will be out again on Sunday, going to Salisbury plain for a bit of gravel riding
Bad luck with the drone Sandy. Occupational hazard of a being a youtuber. We never know when will be the last flight 😁👍
Thats true enough Ken, there will always be a first flight and a last flight for every drone:)
I saw you earlier bro, I was showing you my phone where I was watching your video.
Yes Bro, we saw you and went for a walk at Cuckoo plantation
@@WiltshireMan Nice walk up there..
Hi Sandy, I’ve been watching your content for a while now. The bike videos initially attracted me to your channel. Would you ever consider doing a ‘real world’ review of your two bikes including ownership experience, reliability and practicality for different types of trips and moto camping? Thanks!
I predict you will get a couple of drones donated for you to review….a few will moan of course 😂 However, it’s in all our interests because we love your videos!
looks like it wound good for some radio too.
Sad to hear about the drone. What about your old drones from days gone by. 😱
Drones don't swim.......glad you didn't done about the loss 😭
Great video Sandy . Shame about your airborne camera, but don't drone on about it , someone'll sort you out !
Thanks Stina, yes I have a feeling that someone could be me:)
@@WiltshireMan 😂👍
Nice campout again Sandy, but I think any spare drones lying about should be donated to Ukraine, where they can adapt them to help get rid of their invaders.
I try to keep out of politics as much as possible on this channel dondle
3 to 400 Pounds. Strip down to your skivvies and get in that lake after it boy😂
Shame about the drone. Have you still got the big white one you used to use? Great camp as always Sandy.
I still have the Phantom Rob but it's just too big and noisy
@@WiltshireMan it was a beast of a craft. Get 10 of them tied together and you could probably get off the ground. Would be like paragliding again.
You should mount you GoPro on the chin of your helmet it will feel a lot more comfortable
I've tried that but it's puts the camera too low and all you'll see is the windshield. As it is I don't even notice the camera
Are these Himalayans as good as people say. Waiting for the prices to drop when new one comes out before i get one
They are only good if you are relaxed and not in a hurry and are happy to take in the scenery, on faster roads and motorways I find the bike lacking. As an everyday working mule and a bit of gentle off roading they are fine. At the end of the day it's a low powered economical to run and repair bike that isn't going to set the world on fire with performance. About the same acceleration as a small family car with a top speed of 75mph
@@WiltshireMan pretty much how I perceive them. I have an mt09 for blasting an goldwing for touring. I have a scratch to itch with the himi. Tha ks for your input.
Sadly subtitles are not activated 😢
I've just tried to get subtitles to work Annue, it may take a while for CZcams to update but they should be available soon
@@WiltshireMan many thanks 👍
What is it with you Jacks and crashing drones? Mind you least you fly safely and legally unlike your brother!!
Oh no I cannot like a video with a major a disaster in it.
