- In 2015, Tacoma Concert Band was fortunate to have world-renowned euphonium player Steven Mead solo with us. Terry and Byron of Puget Brass made this video to illustrate the difference between the baritone and euphonium.
I appreciate the sound of the baritone horn. Clear and focused. Similar to a slide trombone. There is also a large version of the baritone horn. It looks like a slender euphonium. I think it presents better and can also be held better by a normal-sized person.
The Euphonium is a Bb tenor tuba (which it is known as in an orchestra, played by a trombone player); the baritone is a Bb tenor saxhorn. Saxhorns are narrower bored than tubas, cf bass saxhorn and bass tuba. The baritone has a timbre somewhat similar to a Bb tenor trombone.
ok professor🙄

@@varatic644 He's speaking "google". No one needed to hear anything he had to say its written on wikipedia
@@mambojazz1 Awh, someone isn't as smart as he thought he was on the internet, compared to others?
@@pengoo6048 Did you read the original comment? That moron with an ego copy and pasted that from google. A waste!
Thanks for the info. Appreciated.
I love low brass gang! Not part of it , I play an octave higher, but I appreciate the alto and bass doots
Ironically the tenor range is what's featured in this video
@@KylesBankAcc Ahh fck I failed to mention exactly those lol. My bad
I love that they played the baritone solo from movement 4 of lincolnshire posy
Mine has a super deep sound and sounds almost the same.. But looks like the euphonium :/
You've probably got an American style Baritone. American Style Baritones tend to be hybrids, as the Euphonium is not as common in American Style bands, the American Baritone tends to be very Euphonium like, with bore that is more conical than an English Baritone.... though usually not quite as conical as an actual Euphonium.
Same
This is a british baritone which is smaller. Sounds different
How about comparing parts written for each instrument by having them play a musical excerpt together?
I play baritone but i def love euphonium soujd better, i like it has smooth sustain sound
I play both in my band
Gang!
1:04 was that Lincolnshire Posy movement 4?
IT WAS
Terry Anderson:?
Baritone is the Pop singer and Euphonium is the Lyrical Singer
A pop singer is a lyrical singer. The analogy doesnt work.
@@mambojazz1 I think he meant opera
@@dtmm122 I can see that lol
Are they tuned the same as the Trombone, as well?
