  • This last week, my air conditioning went out. Sadly, the timing was pour and it was mid heat wave in California. This meant temps as high as 105 degrees! My house would rise up into the low 90s, and my tanks quickly followed. These are the ways that I used to cool my tank.

Yes! I'm also in the Bay Area and there was one day that my betta tank was hovering in the high 80's and I was freaking out. I also put a frozen water bottles into my tank and it helped so much.

I real life had my temp going up a lot on my tanks. I had to unplug my heater and it didn’t help that my room gets the hottest.

I’m glad you got it worked out! How stressful! I can relate. My air conditioner went out for a couple days last summer. To cool my animal/fish room, I bought one of those portable ac units that has an exhaust hose that you put in the window. Thankfully all my fish and reptiles are tropical and contained to one room. I ended up putting an air mattress in the animal/fish room and slept in there though, because the rest of the house was unbearable. Those portable ac units are expensive. It took me almost a year to pay off.

I actually have one, (I had a bedroom in the garage when my aunt moved in with us), but I lost the battle on which room it went into... Haha

Actually, I like watching your longer videos. This doesn't feel like a long one to me. It's the shorter ones that get me bummin lol

It's constantly 115°+ during the summer where I live so the tank I have outside (no space inside) is constantly going to 95 during the day so i really need to cool the hell out of it

You can put filtered water ice cubes to help with evaporation as well

I live in the east bay and went through the same thing, except I have no AC. Thankfully my tank temps only raised to the 80’s. I’m definitely using the frozen water bottle method if it happens again. Thank you

And if one doesn't have an ice pack nor water bottles, one can always put a few ice cubes into a ziplock bag and float it in the water.
