I belong to Eminabad😊. You have missed out many details like It was an enclosed city like interior Lahore it had nine doors namely Zaildar, Kherzri, Dahli and some others they used to be closed at night. It was a rich Hindu town of Dewans of Kashmir. All streets are pacca with brick lineing, had street lamps at every corner of streets which were lit at sun set. It has 21 Hindus Temples. Ranjit Singh visited many times and Build Gurduwara Rohri Sb where Guru Nanak was sitting on pebbles and praying with hundreds of followers Baber fearing Rebellion arrested him and put him to hard labour inside Eminabad. The sad part is that it is all destroyed with time. The Mala of Vasakhi was very famous till sixties may Sikhs from India regularly visited as it was organized on Gurdwara Rohri Sb surrounding land for three days. Gurdwara had big orchards of Mangos and many other fruits Guawa ,and citrus etc. The Burfi use to be good now it is a fraud mixed with cornflower.

Qudratullah Shahab also mentioned Aimenabad in his Shahab-nama as his love interest (a Hindu girl) used to live there when Shahab sb used to live in Lahore. However Qudrat sb's Shahab-nama itself is a bit controversial and he was not a historian. Just mentioning for interest not that it is of any interest to historians

Why govt of Punjab hasnot preserved this building. Your idea of tourist place/motel was marvelous. It's a misery of Pakistan that heritage has been ruined by the ignorant peoples. You can visit Hyderabad, still having these sort of buildings.

Hardly any left in Hyderabad. I have seen the glory of Hyderabad in the early 1980s.

  • @sharadchandakacherla8268

Great episode, Sir. The "tehkhaana" part made it more interesting 😀. Sad that the building is in disrepair. If you get to visit Rajasthan in the future there are some beautifully preserved Havelis in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, called "Patwon Ki Haveli" , which is a must visit spot. Also the whole town is one of the last remaining walled cities in India that is a proper functional city , so for "khandahar lovers" like us , Jaisalmer is a treasure trove as its alive and kicking.
Also its sad that ppl are not preserving the heritage, but in my opinion its worse that we don't have the will to make such beautiful pieces of architecture anymore, its all bland , featureless gigantic buildings throughout the cities. Even rich ppl who can do it, still end up constructing ugly buildings.

Agree with you about the characterless buildings we are now raising. But alas Rajasthan may be out of my reach.

It’s an Islamic country murshad. Why will they bother about havelis of Hindus or Sikhs.
The few temples and Gurdwaras are maintained for outward form.
We are headed the same way. We are following in your footsteps.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469 and passed away in 1539. Aurangzeb came more than a hundred years later. Now figure it out yourself.
