The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT. John 3:18 KJV He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
He uses his voice almost the same way what he emphasises when he pauses etc. I think Hunter almost became an alter ego for him. Johnny is actually a bit shy socially Thompson had Raoule Duke and Depp protects his sensitive nature with an extroverted personality. Hunter S Thompsons works are in some ways a survival guide for creative wild people who have to repress themselves in society.
I believe this is the film that shaped the rest of Depp's career in the same way The Big Lebowski did for Bridges. They have yet to shed these characters from the subconscious sectors of their memories.
@Lily /ليلي hunter s. Thompson is a role that it just like lsd itself. Once you accept the role/trip you will be sucked into it and it will take you over until it finally ends. But it will always stick with you until the day you die
I read or saw a quote once where Bill Murray told Depp that once you portray Hunter, he's in you for the rest of your life and honestly I can see some of that come out in Murray at times as well.
Johnny's perspective on all his films and his life in general is fascinating. I really have never seen another actor with his depth. I am trying to see every film he has made and I have changed the way I view them. Gone is the day I judge a film on the surface for pure entertainment.
Je vais dire la vérité, ce film est un chef d'oeuvre totale, je l'ai écouté a plusieurs reprises quand j'étais dans ma période d'expérience. Aujourd'hui je suis rendu sobre. Je suis assez âgé aussi. I remember watching them both in a hotel room, and Johnny said he could bring a car around, just in case Hunter needed to escape. I got a feeling he understood what Thompson was all about, which is not an easy task I imagine
Hunters expense for that trip includes a beaten up Cadillac, 100 grapefruits, 2 dozen coconuts, 22 pounds of ketchup and alot of fries. They sat in the parkinglot of a hardware store where they bought a hammer to crack open the coconuts, which they did all over the Cadillac. I may be a little off, but I think its about right, and probably alot more that only the dead would know now :D
Meeting with Hunter was a lot like taking acid, It had its terrifying highs and depressing lows and no matter how you fight it, a part of him will stay with you for the rest of your life. Creeping up your spinal column and lashing out at you when you least expect it.

I envy Depp for one solitary thing - getting to really know sir Thompson. That's, uh... Yeah... I'd want that. Also - nice to see Depp and Benicio del Toro both admitting that the movie's theme is hope. As in - trying to desperately find it. And eventually realizing that there is no such thing.

The film was flawless.
@Nedd Flanders Really!!?? I've seen the movie 50 times and never noticed
@Nedd Flanders I think even that just adds to the movie, every "flaw" just adds to the aesthetic
It would be pointless to remake it. Every word is from the book except for Gary Buddy’s ad-lib because of Gilliam not yelling “cut”
The film is a total mess and flawed completely, but it's intentionally very funny
