  • This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek edition. The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek is a rugged, more power and an off-road tuned suspension, the Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek!
    The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek model gets a power boost compared to the other trims, it has a 3.5L V6 with a 9-speed automatic transmission, 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. All other models have 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. In Canada, standard 4WD. In the US, both 2WD and 4WD options are available.
    You get a few extras with the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek model including the off-road tuned suspension, all-terrain tires, unique badging and upholstery, an extra 11 horsepower and 11 lb-ft of torque and it has a 0.6” lift giving it 7.7” of ground clearance.
    The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is comfortable, spacious and it offers plenty of storage. The third row is best for small children, I really had to move up the second-row seat to fit in the third row. Cargo space behind the third row is sufficient and it’s easy enough to get into the third row with the one touch seating which pitches the seat forward to provide a wide opening.
    There’s room for up to 8-passengers in the Pathfinder with three car seats being able to fit in the second row and two in the third if you choose.
    In Canada, all 2024 Nissan Pathfinder models except the top Platinum trim come with a bench seat, the Platinum model has captain’s chairs making it a 7-passenger vehicle. In the US, the base trim has a bench seat, Rock Creek captain’s chairs and all other trims have the option of both including the top trim.
    The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is priced well especially on some of the lower trims, S $49,678 CAD, SV $52,678 CAD, Rock Creek $55,678 CAD, SL $56,678 CAD, SL Premium $58,678 CAD
    Platinum $60,878 CAD. In the US, S 2WD $35,810 USD, 4WD $37,710 USD, SV 2WD $38,630 USD, 4WD $40,530 USD, Rock Creek 4WD $43,630 USD, SL 2WD $42,230 USD, 4WD $44,130 USD, Platinum $48,780 USD, 4WD $52,895 USD.
    2024 Nissan Pathfinder Fuel Economy, 11.7L/100km, 21 MPG city and 9.3L/100km, 27 MPG highway. The Pathfinder can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

    Great job describing eveything on this Pathfinder, Andrea and Zack. We opted for the 2023 SL and have 10,000 comfortable miles on it with zero brake wear, and appreciate the power passenger seat which my petite wife truly appreciates. The tried and true V - 6 engine has plenty of power and while driving 60 mph, we have gotten 29 mpg. The safety features are wonderful and we look forward to many years of smooth sailing ahead!

    We own the previous model Pathfinder, and call it the Dr. Seuss of vehicles because the "Places You Will Go." We've driven to 3 different states and regular travel the CA coastline and have never had issues besides regular maintenance. We've been thankful for it taking us everywhere safely.

    Perfect timing for this review. My neighbour just bought a white Rock Creek, traded iin their 2013 CX-5 2.5 last week. The real reason they are willing to bear the iffy Nissan reliability, is because they couldn't get a CX-90 straight 6 or Grand Highlander with Hybrid Max. Or have to wait for a while.

    So my current 2020 Ranger is my first turbo. And I will never EVER go back to a NA engine. I live n Wyoming and drive a lot at elevation the turbo doesn't get laggy and the massive low end torque is so awesome. 50K miles in. Zero issues. The responsiveness, the torque, the ability to maintain power at elevation . I am all in on turbos.

    It definitely stands out from the competition. I’m not sure it is better, but Nissan is clearly trying to add … ‘adventure’… into the vast sea of mall crawling generic looking SUV’s. It definitely puts Toyota on notice that they’ve arrived… again… albeit a bit late … again. Thanks for the video.

    A V6 engine is inherently balanced versus an inline four. The main reason for downsizing the engine is less emissions.

    • @TJvigilante
      @TJvigilante Před 7 měsíci

      There’s nothing balanced about a v6, inline 4s are more balanced. V6s need large vibration dampers on the crankshaft to compensate which saps power.

Thank you for your in-depth review of the V6 vs the turbo 4 cylinders. Major issue: I purchased a 2024 Rock Creek and had one major problem. That is that the passenger seat height is not adjustable at all. My wife is the primary driver, and she is 5 and 3, and even the driver's seat has to be set the highest, with extra cushioning. When she sits in the passenger seat she looks like a grade schooler. If the airbag inflated against a short passenger in this condition, will her face be safe?
    Could Nissan provide taller seat rails?

  • @andrew81632
    @andrew81632 Před 8 měsíci +2

    What is always missed is the SV and up are all equipped for 6K towing in Canada, most of the other brands are not and require more money. The suspension is also tuned towards towing and softens up when you have a trailer hitched. Big bonus, it won't catch fire in your garage like some competitors. I've had my 23 SV for 12 months, lots of towing, no issues, but I agree the passenger seat is weird. I only wish it had more ground clearance. I would skip the rock creek version.

    The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is the same as the 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek that I own. I have 4,000 miles on it and at this moment, the hub cap centers fall off going down the road, apparently not covered by the so called bumper to bumper warranty, the rear door seals leak road dust into the cab and the left rear passenger door can not be opened from the inside. So far, not impressed with Nissan’s warranty or the material and workmanship and fit and finish. I am thinking I made a mistake in this purchase decision.

    • @mattie3595
      @mattie3595 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Exactly, if you drive 20,000km/yr the difference in cost between reg & premium fuel is less than $400/yr.
      Better fuel economy, less contaminants in engine & reduced detonation.
      If you are gonna keep a vehicle long term - run the premium fuel as recommended by the manufacturers.

      @kevinW826 Před 9 měsíci

      It’s more than $400 a year. I don’t know where you got your numbers from.
      Down here in Halifax, premium is more than diesel. $2.20 a litre. Regular is $1.60

    • @mattie3595
      @mattie3595 Před 9 měsíci

      Our premium is always about 20 cents more per litre. So, $400 more per year......is what it is.

    • @jasons7070
      @jasons7070 Před 9 měsíci

      If premium fuel costs were a few thousand extra a year then the argument makes sense to not option for the higher hp variant. But we're not talking about a 20k vehicle, 50k+ plus taxes plus interest. an extra $500 a year in fuel costs is negligible. If one is concerned with the premium fuel being too expensive...then you should not buy the vehicle you are putting the fuel into.

    • @kevinW826
      @kevinW826 Před 9 měsíci

      @@mattie3595$1.60 for regular on an 80 litre tank is $128. $2.10 for premium on that same 80 litre tank is $168ish.
      $40 more a week x 52 weeks is $2080 a year not including any road trips or fuel price increase. Not worth it.

    Incandescent turn signals on a $40k+ model 😬

    • @barrynordstrom331

      If it is just an LED bulb to replace, I'm okay with LED. If you have to replace the whole unit to replace the LED turn signal, no thanks. I keep my vehicles long term and if I just have to replace a couple of cheap bulbs instead of a whole unit, I'll take incandescent every time.

    My gosh, why are some of these manufacturers putting in passenger seats you can't raise or lower!!! Look at Andrea in the video at the end - she's sitting a full head lower! That's a complete show stopper for me and my 4'10" wife. Like the rest of the vehicle, but won't buy one. Saw the same thing in a recent Toyota Cross we rented. NO passenger seat height adjustment. My wife could barely see over the dash and was miserable riding in it for 3 days. So we consumers now have to check and see if passenger seats can be adjusted when looking for vehicles!

    There should be a class action lawsuit for the rear brakes wearing out at 15K miles in normal driving conditions. Stay away from this vehicle. Passenger seat is so low the passenger can't see anything. I hate the fact that it can't recognize a bike rack or trailer and slams on the brakes when backing. I have to disable the rear emergency braking every time I start the vehicle. Nissan really didn't think through it's engineering on this one. Did I mention I have had to pull over a couple of times to reboot the vehicle due to every idiot light coming on and erroring out!!! Took pictures and showed my Nissan dealership maintenance and they replaced my battery thinking it would resolve the issues. NOPE! It still does it especially up in the mountain passes. Once again stay away from this POS.

    Nissan offers a Pathfinder that is the mildest bit more off road capability, and the "reviewers" whine about tire noise and the firm suspension. In the eyes of the beta male and his key keeper, any SUV that is can actually cross a stream, drive thru mud or drive over rocks is way is out side their batters box. Many of us wish Nissan would make a pathfinder like they had in the 1990s or bring back the Xterra. Not everyone wants a minivan with snow tires pretending to be an SUV.
