I Passed My UK Motorsport ARDS Test (Some Tips)

- I've been wanting to get this done for years. YEARS.
So the ARDS test is pretty easy IF you prepare well. I found that learning the flags was the most important thing BY FAR. Trackday experience will also stand you in good stead but in honesty if you're competent in a car and can drive smoothly, you'll be fine - especially if you choose to do it at Mallory Park, a modest circuit with a handful of corners that's friendly for first timers and with friendly staff that obviously enjoy their job.

The flag definitions on the cat driver training website you were talking about, and the go racing booklet are slightly different, which ones are correct and do you need to know the flag definitions word for word?

Thanks for the video, the only question I have is how are the questions about the flags asked? Is it multiple choice or written etc? Just trying to work out when I have revised enough and I can book the test.
Im thinking about getting an Alpaca called John. Do you have some advice? Doesn't have to be about Alpacas.

Stupid question I know, but how difficult is the practical part of the assessment
It's real easy - if you can drive and you understand how to get around a race track you'll pretty much be golden. If you spin or go off track you fail but you'd have to be pretty uncontrolled to do that. For context I've done about 8 trackdays in the last 10 years and I am confident in doing so but I'd imagine just a small 20 minute session on track beforehand would set you up well. Most schools do offer this.

Hey Danny. Well done on getting your Ards licence. Do you need to have a full English driving licence to be able to get this licence? As I really want to do some track days but have been denied due to not having a full licence. Great content as always and loved your drawings lol
Cheers mate - You'll certainly be needing a full UK driving licence to do any track days of any sort above Karting. That is a far harder task!
Im 14 and is doing Teamsport Karting ive just signed up for the BIKC should i do this test aswell? Id like to join Formula 4.
Can a 16 year old do this aswell??

What's the deal with the eye test? Do you need perfect fighter pilot vision, or is it OK if you wear glasses? Do you know what's acceptable?
The eye test just determines if you need glasses to race or not - glasses are allowed in motorsport, they even had an F1 driver wear them a few years back (sebastian bourdais)
How can I win over the Wife? Cause shes very vocal about spending the cash but no money for racing at the moment. LOL
