As a Christchurch man who's been in London for 27 years, you guys are making me so home sick! There are so many great places to see in Canterbury once you get off the main road.
We're very lucky in this part of the world. You can live vicariously through my videos 😁
Hayden, I used to run a 1955 86" soft-top Series 1 when I was in Christchurch - where are you now DU677? Had great times driving up to Mt Cheeseman on Friday nights for a weekends ski-patrolling. Also took it up Mt Alfred on the Dart-Rees river near Glenorchy when down in Queenstown. A much better vehicle than the old man's Series 1 V8 Disco.
Thanks for helping a fellow landy owner out 🎉
I live where Range Rovers and new Defenders are commonplace, yet most of their drivers have no idea how their cars work. I went to an off road event where new Rover owners thought they could drive . I recovered more than one in my 64 Series 2A. Also, no buttons.
Hi Hayden, that is what NZ outback driving is all about, helping out unfortunate 4 wheel drivers, another great piece of New Zealand scenery, but give a a good Landrover over a jetboat any day, best regards from a ex ChCh lad now living in Melbourne 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Les. Always a pleasure 🙏🏼
Some great landscape footage in here - brilliant lighting and a rainbow. I’ve owned a lot of 4x4s but if I was doing what you do, it’d be the classic series LR, old Defender or original Rangie for me and not worrying about dents and scrapes and once again I’m beyond impressed about how your SWB just makes it look effortless.
Thank you so much. Yeah I absolutely love my Series. Hopefully I can continue putting out entertaining videos for you all 👍🏼
Love it Hayden. Can't beat old school no buttons haha
Hahaha yeah, took us over an hour to sort it out. Old school for the win 🏆 😀
Awsome video, classic boats and classic landy all in one ,beautiful place in there too
Glad you enjoyed it. We had so much fun.
I'd say we'll definitely be going back one day
The guy you towed off the side of the road should go back to the car sales yard he got landrover from and see if they can give him some pointers on how to use his landrover off road or go on a off road driving course 😊
Jeeezzzz what an adventure. This video had it all. Keep it up 😁
Thank you! Will do!
Loved it, that new Defender was in a spot for sure. Old Jet boat...very cool good on you guys
We agree! Glad you enjoyed it. We had so much fun.
Good vid. Top marks for wearing life vests. Too many don’t! 😱🙈👍🏻🙏🦘
So true!
Hayden, a Landrover, is a British invention... and the humble jetboat circa the early 1960s is the classic. Be it on the Waiau, Eglinton, Holyford - the Dart, Rees or even the Arthur River in an old Fiordland Travel ex Waiau River jet - Torrent or Tempest... Those old jet boats were the forerunners for deer culling. Then, eventually, venison recovery. The Landrover (yours) is a classic... the new Defender, not so much!! ... That NZ created Hamilton - a classic workboat! They win every time!
Couldn't agree more
Very nice video, good fun between friends.
Classic Landies and classic boat,, loved it...
That sound of the V8 RR is music to the ear...
Long live the Green Oval 🏅🏅
🇿🇦👍🏻👍🏻🇿🇦
Cheers mate, appreciate the comment.
Brad's RRC has a sweet sounding rumble that's for sure
Hey guys having a hard time dragging that beast out. Maybe guys who buy these new vehicles do a recovery course ,it didn’t have any recovery gear job well done.
This video had it all! Well done 👏
Cheers mate 👍🏼
Great video, I was there when you went through, that's me sitting under the pine tree at 21.40 having a cuppa, next to my motorbike. Thought I recognised your landy. I used to ride out to the old No 2 hut in my youth , is a great bit of country to explore.
Absolutely. We're very lucky here
Great to see those old vehicles still doing their thing so well, no (silicon) chips, just plenty of dents. Nice one guys.
Thanks 👍
Another brilliant video, thanks Hayden. Gotta love an NZ icon, the Hamilton Jetboat? Really enjoyed watching the recovery operation 😂
Thanks a ton! It was the trip that kept on giving.
Blimey another knee slapper of a video, Hayden.
You Kiwis are spoiled rotten for beautiful trails and landscapes!
Couldn't believe that rainbow in the background of the bow and arrow practise - sure that wasn't a painted set we were looking at? 😂
Nice jet boat -- I've heard NZ has something to do with inventing those..😉
Good lads for fetching that Pretender out of the muck -- I think if that was my motor I'd be putting steelies and some good knobblies on it sharpish.
Yeah, we're bloody lucky to have all this beauty in our backyard. The rainbow was a nice touch, right.... that canal was pretty epic. The skipper did a pretty good job navigating it (apart from the wee bump near the start 😄)
@@hayden_jones 👍
Though I invented the word Pretender for that Curry Rover... More of an Offender, that Discofender Discotender 😂😂
We don't all like caravans! In fact i F***ing hate them! 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this made me laugh. Cheers mate.
I always think of the Inbetweeners when it comes to caravans. "Caravan club" 🤣🤣
we want the stig back! awsome video as always.
🙂🙂
If stig could talk, he'd probably say, "I'll be back"
🤣
Awesome vids‼️‼️ great fun to watch 🍻👌👌
Thanks 👍🏼 😊
Really great video Hayden, I do love all your videos, that classic Jet Boat really added another dimension. Early Range Rover sounds amazing! And I could watch your beautiful old Land Rover ambling along trails all day. The scenery is as always stunning. New Zealand is a special place. Keep it up, looking forward to joining you for more adventures this year. Happy new year to you sir.
You guys really enjoy your driving, lam coming over in February no 4x4 just looking around haven’t been back in 45 years
Have fun!
haha funny thing about that flint fire starter thing. As you gave that gifte and I swa what it was I imediatly thought "ok, they won't be able to start a fire with that" :]] my friend actualy got one for his birthday and it was the same story.
Awesome!!!
Cheers
Thank you for showing such amazing places. The rescue was great and i've always had the doubt if the doors seals worked properly. Now i have no doubts 😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it.
New video out tomorrow 😀
@@hayden_joneswe will see it from Spain, only 16km away of the Land Rover Santana Factory where over 300k Land Rovers where built between 1958 and 1984 -> es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Santana
1 button to push is the ignition button
You guys are making me critically homesick. Nothing like his in Chicago. Sad.
Yeah NZ's pretty special. ❤
That bow and arrow is awesome! and nice rainbow in the background 👍🏹🌈🇳🇿
Yeah, it was loads of fun. Such a beautiful place.
Awesome fun video loved it . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) 😁👍🏼🍻
Glad you enjoyed it.
@@hayden_jones .. 🍻😁👍🏼
Make sure to take out the carpets on the Rangie and dry everything out otherwise rust will set in :) Great video!
Thanks mate. Thankfully Brad doesn't have carpet in his rangie !
My favorite place to escape life is Lock Katrine, I've been there at least 6 times. Such an easy relaxing drive in, and fantastic views. Planning on getting back there in 2024, once I get my L400 Delica fixed.
It really is beautiful up there.
@@hayden_jones yeah it sure is. Pity the farmer locked that gate. And was awesome to see the channel that links Loch Katrine and Lake Sumner. I'd love to go on a boat and see it for myself.
You should. It was the highlight of the trip.
The best way I've ever found to use those flint lighters is with a wad of cotton wool. You'll have a very hard time lighting straight paper or even wooden tinder with them, the sparks just burn out too quickly.
Thanks for the advice 🙏🏼 👍🏼
Next video I'll try it
The cotton wool works so well. Cheers for the tip 👍
@@hayden_jones You're very welcome :)
Loved each bit of ittttttttttttt
Thanksssssssss 😆🙂
Another good one 👍🏼 your brit impression was a bit Welsh is that a sheep thing 😅
😂😂😂😂 thanks
Old land rovers that are fully mechanical are much better I love the diesel ones.
They're the best 😁
It's easy if you pull the car forward to this position
I recommend u dont stand there during tugging/ winching though, can be quite dangerous if it snaps
Between the cars i mean
Hi I like your video
Thanks 👍🏼
Where would we be without modern technology? Probably not stuck.
😆😆
Love the videos mate… greetings from Germany 😊
Danke 🙏🏽😁
Are you guys based in Chch? I would love to join you all for a drive one out day.
Also thay locked gate is a ULR so even though the farmers gate says no entry, you can totally ignore it
Yeah, we're all based in chch. What do you drive? What's a ULR?
Great video, where is the bonnet lookout guy?
He unfortunately came flying off a few weeks ago when we were driving into a VERY strong wind storm.
We will have to have a wee dram for him..
Wheres the stig gone ?
He came flying off while we were driving into a massive wind storm a few weeks back. 😢
where is the stig?
He came flying off while we were driving into a massive wind storm a few weeks back. 😢
Oh man… that’s sad. Please find a new one!
@Till2610 🙂 new stig is already on and ready for the next adventure
Hey Folks. Lose the music on the water. You can't beat the sound of water and "bonk" of boat on bank and peace ad quiet.
I totally agree, but unfortunately, I had the wrong microphone plugged in, and the audio was shocking (way too much wind noise / distortion)
How tf did the new defender get stuck in THAT!?
😆 it was actually extremely soft. His tyres didn't help, and the traction control wasn't helping either.
Wot diesel engine is in that land rover
Toyota B
3.0ltr 4cyl diesel
NISSAN PATROL ENTIRE CHAT
Driver error. The new Defender can spin circles around the old Defender. Also the driver was just not equipped or knowledgeable on its use let alone having the necessary recovery gear and know how
do not do it in reverse gear
Do it? You might need to be a bit more specific
Enjoyed the video but I think it lacked a feminine perspective.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
The all new Great Pretender, surely not a Defender.
Don't you get a basic driving course with that Curry Rover?
Money don't buy common sense or intelligence... What a good laugh.
Now I can carry on watching your nice trip 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣
Too many buttons 🤣
Those new defenders are utter shite!
😬😬
Sure they have issues but tell you what … the new Defenders have crossed the Simpson desert without issues where the same crossing have landed old defenders and land cruisers in hot water. I suppose only time will tell how durable the new Defenders are post warranty period…as a Defender owner I have my eyes set of the Ineos Grenadier as a future replacement if my Defender starts giving issues.
Not a brand or make follower…as long as the vehicle works for my use cases, I will use it…the moment it starts giving issues…it would be time to explore other options in marketplace. This applies to any make, model or legacy of vehicle.
