It looked like Saka oversold the contact by sticking his right leg out to initiate contact. Ultimately, Saka should have gone for the finish, he could have skipped past Neuer there.
Could not agree more, what I find sad is that he would sooner go for an iffy penalty by simulation rather then go round the keeper & score.

I thought it was a penalty in real time, but get it on VAR and Saka leaves his leg out (in an unnatural position so he knew what he was doing), Neuer does not kick Saka, Saka kicks Neuer and that is the nuance. Lee saying Neuer shouldn't be there, where is he supposed to be?
Erm on his line mate 😂 you and so many others have fallen for the BS analysis on TNT. They’ve slowed it right down and made it look like Saka left his leg in, he running full pelt - Same as Sane in the 1st half. It’s a million percent a penalty. If saka dives why doesn’t he go down like Kane and every other diver out there, he tried to stay on his feet but Neuer took him out. It’s the most blatant penalty that’s not given OF ALL TIME. Not a penalty. Saka hangs his right leg at a weird angle to initiate the contact. Lee mentions Vardy and Kane but they sell it better. Saka needs to practice his dives better.

One of the problems is Saka has got a reputation for going down too easily, personally I think it was a 50/50 decision, you can see why it wasnt given & you can see why it could have been given.

If you give a penalty for players sticking out their legs like Saka did, you are encouraging cheating! That’s cheating & Saka should have been booked.
VAR is there to stop this type of cheating, slow motion wasn’t used in the past that’s why these were given, now it proves cheating.

Saka tried to move is leg away from the keeper the only way he could do it was by moving his leg towards the keeper then you flick your leg up and over the keepers leg so it was a pen Saka honestly tried to jump over the keepers leg it’s easy to work out put your left leg outside of a chair then try and get your right foot over the chair from standing close to the chair you won’t get your foot over the chair put if you flick right knee up then flick your right foot out then up you will clear the chair

I thought it was a penalty that the Ref should have picked up. However, I am not upset that VAR didn't overturn the on field decision. When you slow it down, one of the angles looks like Saka's leg is sticking out and the other angle looks like Neuer's leg is sticking out. At the end of the day, the goalkeeper went in hard, was no where near the ball and made contact with the player taking him down.
No, we are not slowing anything down when the referee has to judge in real time. Neuer got none of the ball and brought the man down. End of.

I feel we suffer in the big games because Arteta over complicates tactics leading up to the game and not letting the players do what they are best at, would explain Porto away and against Bayern why so many players play so poorly in the same game.
I like Raya and support him, but he had a bad game. If that was Ramsdale, he’d have been shredded.
If it had been Ramsdale then it would have been expected. Either way, Gabriel needed to put the ball out of play or punt it upfield.

Harvey Elliot was a blatant dive he was already falling, saka is running full pace & the way saka hit the ball it was like he was trying to break but Neuer blantetly stuck his leg out and trips saka.

You can't be looking at Saka's incedent in slow motion, any foul except for dangerous play or deliberate handball, in my opinion shouldn't be reviewed in slow motion, because we start assuming what the player is thinking and a split second move looks to be intentiona. Watching at Real-time camera speed, the pace Saka and Neuer are going, Saka evaded him, Neuer extends his leg to get the ball and clips Saka. Not enough time (less than one second) for Saka to extend his leg out for contact. It looks like Saka is in his stride please watch it again in real time.
Also who cares if one decision is not given and so he 2nd isn't given, that would be poor refereeing. My opinion... I think everyone watching that live, except for the Bayern players, thought it was normal what Gabriel did. I think the referee saw it as Gabriel saw it, that it was not a kick off by Raya he was just giving the ball to Gabriel to restart (no matter what he supposedly said to Touchel because i suspect Touchel paraphrased what was said to him).
Didn't need to see it in slow motion to tell it was a dive. Saka deliberately moves his leg as if to initiate contact. It was totally obvious, but I would have been very happy for it to be given.
