    Hello Mark. This is the second time I've watched this video. You guys in Australia aren't pretentious like here in the states. Everyone has to have a Harley or BMW or else you're nobody.I ride my DR 650 in the dirt and my Vstrom 650 on the road.I enjoyed your buddies at the camp. These bikers are truly dedicated. They all could have been in the Road Warrior/ Mad Max. You're one of a kind Mark. Great attitude! I'll definetely watch your DR 650 videos before I start modifying my bike. Thanks.

    G'day mate, as long as the bike is in good condition I would only take a spare tire tube and tools for changing tube. Of course you need to take the normal little set of tools for undoing and doing up of things. On that whole trip that I did on the Postie, the only thing I did was put fuel in the tank and trickled a bit of engine oil on the chain. Cheers... Mark

    Thank you so much for sharing your Postie Bike videos. If your desire is to inspire folks to ," take a chance at life " you've hit the bulls eye. Just a tip from an old timer. More than 3-5 lbs. on the front forks and more than 15 lbs. on the rear will cause that bike to weave side to side even on an asphalt road at moderate speeds. It becomes more pronounced as speeds increase. The weight and where it is in relation to the axles,centre of gravity will be an accident waiting to happen if taken lightly. All the best from Canada.

    • @SympleNLP
      @SympleNLP Před 8 lety

      Just so you know posties regularly ride with 10kg mail in the front and 40kg in the rear. These little bikes can do more than anyone realises. They are stable even with weight. When heavy though you need to 'weave' up some steep hills. Lol, momentum conservation :)

    • @BrassLock
      @BrassLock Před 3 lety +1

      @@SympleNLP its interesting to remember as a high school student having to ride my loaded pedal bike up 2 steep hills every afternoon, tired from the day's experiences. I usually had to _"weave my way uphill"_ just to get home.
      As you mention, it's basic physics of momentum conservation. If I was lucky, my chain didn't "jump" the sprockets, causing me to crash down onto the crossbar which was really painful. I should've bought a new chain and sprockets every year, but just put up with it.

    Superb stuff, now that's an adventure and the series has been great to watch. The effort you put in to it shines through, and it's better than most of the shit on TV. Fantastic that you did that trip, and it looks like you had a blast too. Considering the bike you were on you dealt with that dirt just great, I mean, it's easy on a trailie eh?
    All the best mate.

    Hi mate. Only just found this series and really enjoyed it. Just out of interest thought I would relate a story about a guy I think might have been one of the first true adventure riders. In 1987 I rode my Honda Xlv750r into Arkaroola on a trip north. As I filled up I saw a bloke pull up on a CT 90. No real protection other than an open face helmet. Two clear plastic cordial bottles full of petrol. Spare tyre over his shoulder and gear in plastic bags attached with ocky straps. Never got to speak with him he just took off down the road.

    I know it's been 3 years since this series was posted, but I just discovered it and enjoyed watching it so much that I had to comment! What a great trip! I have never seen a CT110 set up for adventure rides, that's so cool!! Loved the videos, the ride looked long, tiring, and fun all at the same time. I know that feeling well! The landscape and views look almost exactly like riding across west Texas; something I've done many times on my DR650 and my Sportster. Also the scrapper bike meet was awesome! We don't have anything like that here, but it sure would be a blast!

    Love the postie rides you do. Was wondering what tyres you’re running?
    I’m after something similar, semi road semi dirt. I’ve currently got the Vee Rubber tyres that Aus Post used to use before they switched to Michelin. I could do with something a bit more aggressive in the dirt but need good road traction too.
