Join us, Daphne and Ian, as we embark on our new chateau renovation projects! This Halloween-themed episode dives into the TRUE French history of our 500+ year old chateau. This is the story of Leonora Dori "The Galigai" who once owned this same chateau in the early 1600's. She was a close friend of the Queen Marie de Medici and lived in this chateau with her husband, the Count Concino Concini. The story ends in mystery, since the large fortune of The Galigai was never found and some believe it is hidden somewhere on our property today.
Our beau chateau (The 500-year-old, Chateau De Lesigny), is located near Paris, France! Most of the structures around the chateau domain need a full restoration, so we are investing everything we have into making the property thrive! We are learning more about french culture and developing new skills along the way.
As a French/American UC Berkeley graduate in Agriculture (Daphne), and a US Air Force Tactical Response Force Veteran/ Kinesiologist (Ian), we share a love for challenges and adventure. We have so much ahead of us, and we are excited to share the experience with you!
You can support our renovation projects by joining our Patreon Community, where you can also gain access to exclusive videos and behind the scene access with Daphne and Ian! All patron funding is used to renovate this historical French Chateau.

Great story and you continue to set the bar high in production value, compared to the other Chateau channels. I wish your subscribers knew the hours a video likes this takes to produce.
Thank you very much! We appreciate you noticing the effort we are putting in, but we are also learning through the process. Ian is always trying to get better with his filming and editing, so we hope to get a little better with each new video 😊
Excellently produced, scripted, directed and presented. Rivals some of the bests documentaries I've seen. I know my Medici history and GOTs and your analogies were prefect. Well done. As for where the treasure is? It is under the stonework you were sitting on!
Thank you for your feedback! We will be sure to double check the audio for future videos. Ian is filming, editing, and learning as we make these videos, so we hope to always be improving 😊
@@TheBeauChateau I thought your audio was great as well. Don't change a thing.
I think she was clever enough to send the treasure to her son for sure.
Brilliant story telling! Thanks for showing us around the chateau.
I think Archaea will find the treasure. Give her a couple more months, she’ll sniff it out.
Amazing visuals and a very captivating storytelling! Such an interesting story, with great importance to the chateau. Maybe there's a secret panic room somewhere in the woods where the treasure is hidden
There are tunnels that go from the pigeon tower to the medieval church in town, so perhaps there are more underground structures on the land…
@@TheBeauChateau perhaps she left her fortune to the church!?
@@TheBeauChateau Tunnels!? Wow! You should make a vlog showing them and adding your great storytelling to it.
@@TheBeauChateau Fascinâtes…Escape Route
Another magical video. You both have found you’re calling besides restoring a Château. I am totally serious! This is incredibly well done! I love you two to pieces!❤
Thank you so much! That is very encouraging to hear 🥰
The mysterious and enthralling storytelling intertwined with the stunning visuals - absolutely epic!
What an interesting story. Being a very intelligent woman, I think it's possible she stashed some of the fortune close by ( in case of a hasty get away) and also send a bulk to Italy to her son.
I would have thought that with the chateaus history that you would metal detect the area to see if there are trinkets embedded in the ground pertaining to the 400 yrs of occupation. Its steeped in so much history. Very fascinating story. Loved it ❤❤❤
I agree, some very cool trinkets might be waiting for discovery
LOVED this format of story telling while cleaning up all the enchanting details of this chateau.
I knew this place had some interesting stories :D and a money mystery that still remains ohhhhh
A video tip.. Have your faces in the thumbnails, its as important and identifiable as the chateau.
Thank you! We will definitely keep our faces in the thumbnails for the future 😉
Every castle and Chateau has horrific history. Murders, tortures - treasures etc. I bet most are haunted also. I hope you find a treasure. Luv your gorgeous chateau ❤️
wow! I love how you put your vlog together! The videography is truly amazing! Love to hear your stories as well! The music is beautiful! The scenery is gorgeous! And I love your dog! She looks like she truly belongs there. Beautiful! Thank you for taking us along on this lovely voyage!
Wow this might be your best episode yet!
I could totally see you guys having an event every year around Halloween where the guests are all given metal detectors and set off into the forest amongst other Halloween goings on. I bet it would be a hit
Thank you so much! We actually had an idea of turning the dungeon into a haunted house walkthrough experience for next year, but we shall see if we can make it happen ☺️
What a great idea!
I would be afraid of guests pocketing what they find.
I really loved this one! It would be interesting to see more of the Chateau's history in future videos. Great job! Happy Halloween🎃
You all hit it out of the park. The story and the scenes around the palace were very intriguing. Thank you for your captivating entertainment.
Brilliant! The amount of work & time put into these vlogs is amazing.
You two are quickly becoming my favorite YTers! What a great video. Learning some of the Chateau history, and seeing parts of the grounds and dungeons that we don't normally see. Thank you for a wonderful Halloween surprise. 🎃🎃
Wow that was interesting! I would love to know more history in the future. What was that underground tunnel used for and where does the steps in the front that you were uncovering lead to? That place is absolutely
Amazing . Love your creative videos.❤
The treasure is this story! Also love the death finale 😀
Great story and the visual story line made it better. Got to love a mystery, treasure and intrigue! I think a book and movie deal is around the corner!
The filming of this is stunning. You have such a gorgeous chateau! I loved this do much!❤
Thank you! Ian has a lot of fun filming these and he hopes to get more creative with his camera 😊
💕If she had treasures she would of had to of been able to put them in a place without anyone seeing her hide them & so obvious that nobody would think of looking in that place💕
I loved your video! I think she was a smart woman who knew her life could be at risk. I think she would have told her son or someone she trusted where she would have hidden the treasures. I think it's gone. Either way, your chateau, especially the dungeon, could be a great Halloween event venue in the future. Open for certain days in the month of October. Of course, it could be decorated for Christmas visits too.
We love Halloween and Christmas, so we hope to make use of the chateau for festive events in the future 😄
I could listen to you both for hours! Happy HALLOWEEN 🎃
I love this style of videos! Getting to see parts of the renovation while also hearing amazing stories just feels so welcoming and intriguing.
Oh you guys are really having some fun with your videos now! Loving it!💕😊🧹🍂
Thank you for sharing in the history of your Chateau, I hope one day (maybe) you may find at least a piece of the treasure that may have been left behind. Thank you so much for sharing your Halloween episode with us. I just love you two. Love from N.Y.
Thank you, Joni 🥰 Happy Halloween!
Well done! Love hearing the history and mystery of your chateau!
The filming and editing had me as enthralled as the story! I love seeing the little tasks around the chateau that make such a HUGE difference. Bravo!
BTW, I would be out there with that metal detector every spare moment! Not necessarily for The Treasure, but the history just under the surface would be fascinating......and an enjoyable vlog. ~hint hint~
Visuals, music, storytelling, breathtaking. A true gift. Thank you
Your videography, stories, voices, and beautiful faces should be televised. Fantastic find. My mother's families came from France during the Revolution. Somehow with ties to the court. I'm her stepdaughter but she is the only mother I've had since I was 5 years old.
Very well done!! 👏
Would have imagined that she would have required help to hide any treasures. So once she was killed, whoever helped her probably kept it for themselves. Or they were responsible for getting it to her son.
What an amazing and intriguing story connected to your family chateau! I love how you presented it and spoke as you did a few fix up jobs too. Very well done. Xox 🥰🤗😇🧙
Very interesting story and told so brilliantly!!! I have ancestors connected to the Salem Witch Trails. It’s awful what they did to those women as well as a few men. If I’d of lived back then I would definitely be on trial as a witch 🤯God rest her soul for holding on to her faith. Maybe it will come to you….. in a dream 😉
You're Halloween special was so enjoyable- right up there at the top. I am horrified how the authorities of the time would deem her a witch.
Ahahah this was fun, can we get more history lessons like this??
This must have taken you some time but i appreciate the effort you put into these.
I liked the part where Jon Snow tells off Ghost for killing a bird.
…so if we ever see you guys with brand new Ferrari’s and a couple horses…just wink twice at the camera and we’ll know what happened.
😆 yes, if we find the treasure, then we will buy a sports car and some farm animals for sure 😉 Happy Halloween!
Loved it and put together so professionally!! It's great hearing the stories of chateau's. Well done.
I love this! Thank you for sharing this fascinating story. I think she probably sent it to her son but would love for you to accidentally find it at the chateau someday ❤
Magical storytelling.
Hello from Nashville, Tennessee! What a cool story! You can speculate about this story forever. I think the treasure in this story is that you know the story and can retail it! It happened in your Chateau and you understand what this could mean. That's the treasure to me! Have a happy Halloween 👻 weekend 🎃
You make a great point 😊 Thank you for your encouragement! Happy Halloween 🎃
Perhaps, through the tunnels to the Chapel…🤍🤍🤍…Faithfully hidden…investment with The Vatican 💫
I so look forward to your videos, you both do so well into bringing us all to the Chateau with you. Such great story tellers 🙂 can not wait for the next one.. love from Australia.
Wonderful way to show off the chateau and tell a story!! Well done!
I love how Ian is the humor of the two. He's handsome as heck and the funny he inserts isn't over done, it's very natural in how he understands things. Daphne on the other hand is the soft spoken informative, business type who is very down to earth and out of the clouds, and yet she gets those moments of the little girl/ fairy princess that slip out from under that serious facade. He's got the itch to look for treasure and she's just 'honey please' not another crazy adventure. But you can tell she'd be willing to put those boots of hers on and go look with him too. It's sweet.
It must be in a secret tunnel! Fascinating story!! How wonderful to live amongst such rich history...👻
A fascinating story worthy of a movie made there at the endlessly captivating chateau!
Thanks so much for this episode... the treasure (or part be of it) may still be hidden in a chapel area, or a secret chamber you have yet to discover. Try pressing for hidden buttons around the fireplaces 😉
Have a magical Hallow'eenie my lovelies ✨🦇🧡🧙🧡🦇
The son got it. Love the story and your posts. I look forward to more restoration. Ken from Indiana 🇺🇸
By far the best Chateau series cinematography on CZcams 👌🏻
And you guys are cute!😀
Thank you very much 😊
So well done!! Loving your storytelling style!
Absolutely beautiful video today , what a treat . Thank you both so very much , eye of Newt and Pinch salamander !
Brilliant! Really well done--as usual. Thanks for the story and the spooky side bars. Boo!!!
Love all your episodes, beautiful, interesting and informative.
This one was top notch!
Great idea to alternate the story telling and different areas of the chateau.
Nice references to GoT
Maine USA
Thank you so much! Ian was ready to use the game of thrones theme song in this video but we thought it was a bit too much 😆
I really loved hearing stories about the history and precious owners of the château.
I love this challenge and the cinematography. So creative.
Everything is so photogenic in this place ! I really love your videos and ...Happy Halloween ;)
Beautifully told and beautifully filmed - what an amazing story!
Thank you! 😊
Love this video. Great Job. Misty mornings are the best. My hunch is her son got it all. Thank you for the history, white witch and all. ♥
Loved this episode. She probably sent most of the treasure to Italy, but I would check the lake.
I think you should seriously look into more information on the potentially hidden treasure ...the chateau is stunning xx
Thank you! We will look into it a little more eventually 😊
Beautiful video, very elegant, effective and innovative idea of telling the spooky true Halloween story whilst doing the manual renovating work. Nicest most entertaining, clever and tastefully filmed chateau renovating video I've seen. Once more, my most sincere congratulations.
You are so kind! 🥰 That means so much to us! We always get worried that people might not like our video when we post them, but the support from our viewers like you is what gets us excited to make the next video. We send you and your wife all our best!
You two are so talented! What a stunning video ❤️
Wow, stunning! I absolutely loved hearing that bit of history! Would love to hear even more. :) Especially about all of the underground tunnels!
This whole video was fun and a treat! My other half is related to Marie de Medici through her husband and the House of Valois, my side is through François II de Valois's wife Mary Stewart, Queen of Scots. Amazing story you two very nicely edited and the concept was brilliant! Thanks for sharing it!!! I work in Hollywood and not easily impressed well done!
Fascinating story and I loved the way you told it with the beautiful and interesting footage.
I also can't resist to complement you guys on how nicely this video is done and how organically and charming you look in it like a couple, truly amazing!
As for the spooky stories we also have about one of the castles in Lviv (Pidhirtsi Castle): back in XVII century, great Polish King Jan III lived there with his wife. Once he died, she married for the second time, but her husband was brutal and heartburning (suspicious of her affair or something), so he put her into the dungeon and during one of the interrogations has hit her, she fell and died but was able to curse him before his death. He died as well, and her spirit is still living in the dungeon, searching but not finding a peace... Even Ghost Hunters International visited that castle, but were scared away after a few days ))) Something like that )
I always laugh at the ideas of "buried treasure." For one, the wealthy would not have done their own digging. Secondly, those servants would have dug everything up tout de suite, just like the Egyptian pyramids and Viking boat burials. The idea of sending it off to family members is pretty plausible. And it's a great story of rags-to-riches, isn't it? Well done video - I like the switching of narrators.
Y'all are so coordinated to be able to tell the story while performing other tasks!
You should hold a 1600's renaissance fair or heritage festival . Costumes, events, artisans, minstrels, vendor tents, roast boar on a spit, dining pavilion. This would be in keeping with your chateau's history.
This was fun to listen to and watch. Well done.
Fantastic vlog, what a fun and mysterious past the chateau has.
Your both very good at painting the picture and story telling, I was hooked . Also shows how much cleaning you do 😂
Both of you are such hard workers! Ian most of your work looks back breaking. But rewarding too. Very interesting story. Those Medici's were really something!
Thank you! Isn’t history exciting! 😊
Love learning about the history of the chateau. If you really wanted to search for treasure, the best way would be ground penetrating radar. You do not destroy anything and no digging everywhere. That is how modern archaeologists do it.
This was fabulous! Thanks for sharing it with us!
I really enjoyed the video! The history was really interesting! You created a great Halloween film! Love from Vermont
Thank you, Rebekah 🥰
Good story. Leave the treasure wherever it is and don’t dig up the place. Just enjoy that beautiful castle. Merry Christmas!🎄🎁❤️
That was great. You guys are getting good at this!
Many aristocrats are in the occult then and still today hope u find the treasure u two deserve it love the story telling
Love the story that's a great story maybe you should put it into a book and put it on Amazon I love watching you with the Chateau
I’m loving your videos! Beautifully filmed and great storytelling 😊
Great story telling and I liked the way you used the chateau in telling it.
I've been watching since the beginning of your journey, and really look forward to each episode. This one in particular was extra fun, the way you decided to do the storytelling among mundane chores and whatnot. Thanks for inviting us in. I'm loving it and rooting for you.
Thank you so much! We are still figuring out how to be comfortable on camera and trying to improve with every new video. This episode was different and we had a lot of fun making it 😊
@@TheBeauChateau Well, you nailed it. It was perfection, down to the eye roll at the end. ;)
Love the story telling and the cutting. feels like a documentary
That was an interesting story, thanks for sharing. I commented before a few months back. I received an interesting email from my brother. He was letting me know about a Chateau channel in CZcams that he thought he would share with me. His long time friend Nick, was in France this past summer visiting his brother Ian and Daphne his girl friend, LOL. Nick is a computer whiz who has been helping my brother and his husband for decades now. I read this and it cracked me up. I told him I have been watching since they started their vlog. I told him about you guys having a connection to Monterey (where we live). This is a small world.
That is so funny! Yes, a small world indeed! We have been so grateful for our friends and family that are sharing our videos to help promote our channel. It really makes a difference for us as we try to grow on CZcams. I will let Nick know his word of mouth has come full circle 😊
Shout out to Monterey! We miss Dametra in Carmel… Daphne worked there for a little while when I was going to school in Monterey. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day! 💕
At a guess I’d say there’d be a hidden wall space somewhere. Do all the wall widths and room sizes add up to the same total length they’re supposed to? Any hollow sounding walls? Any chimneys that don’t end in fireplaces? Hv fun!!
I would not be surprised if the treasure is in fact in the chateau. They would have been able to build a hiding spot without catching anyone's attention. You might map out the dungeon & chateau as well as any area that appears to be like a tunnel. I hope you find it because that would continue to be invested into saving the chateau & grounds plus add to the story 😀
What an interesting story.I love learning the history would be fun to hear more.Happy Halloween
Thank you! Happy Halloween!
Love love all the research you both do very halo-weeny for sure!! ❤🇨🇦
Best Halloween Special in Chateau category on YT so far😊.
Fantastic story and I love your style! Every Chateau channel has its own, but you have become my favorite. Great work ❤
I would remove the ivy on the chateau... it will destroy the masonry. I enjoyed the story and how you told it while doing your chores.
Captivating story, beautifully retold with the perfect choice of dramatic music . The best thing to do is to research what happened to her son in Italy after her execution, for he must have been sent most of her fortune.
Your video production is superior to all other Chateau channels. What a story!!! I would be metal detecting wall, ceilings, floors and use LiDAR equipment. How wonderful that would be for you to find and invest back into your Chatea!!!!😊
As always, I love your vlogs!! That story was fascinating and loved how you both told the story, the history and the intrigue that still exists! I always love your dog & cat too! 🐾
I agree wholeheartedly with so many of the other subscribers’ comments. Your videography, and editing is superb. You two are simply a joy to watch. I wish you all the best.
Thanks for the amazing history !!!
After watching that magnificent piece of work, you deserve to find The Treasures. Have you by chance seen "The Fall " , it's an artsy movie, incredible, filmed in 18 countries. I think you will appreciate its cinematography.
Thank you for sharing! We will have to check it out 😊
When Leonora Galigai was arrested, she had elements of the French Crown Jewels on her person, presumably "lent" to her by the Queen Regent. The French people and nobility didn't need the whole witchcraft business to hate these adventurers, Concini and Galigai, as felonious foreign intruders.
The crown jewel angle could add another layer of intrigue to the Château de Lésigny legend. What if some inestimable treasure--a superb emerald or diamond brought back from the Crusades and incorporated into the crown jewels--were hidden with the Galigai's other loot?
OMG this is a magnificent castle, ur grandpa definitely had great taste. The maintenance is going to cost a fortune as well as the renovation but ur living the dream. Maybe you can get an agency from India who would renovate the place at a very reasonable price since labour is cheap here and we also have agents who take care of your working capital requirements, so as to not stretch your finances. Just a suggestion since everything is outsourced nowadays. It's very convenient too. Though good luck to you and have a wonderful life ahead 👍
What a great bit of history! 🌺
Loved the story about the White Witch, HAPPY Halloween. Kathy 🇺🇸
