- Watch to the end to see how much food has changed over time! I spent over $15K buying unopened vintage foods from throughout history. You won't believe how some of them tasted.

Y’all just destroyed all of that stuff… didn’t read the ingredients and barely tried anything. It seems like you just bought all these vintage ingredients to destroy these items without even giving us information on them. What did the labels say, what were the ingredients. We just watched you botch $16k worth of products.

Fun fact: honey is a food that never goes bad if it is well sealed! Due to the high sugar content and the fact that it does not have any water, bacteria cannot grow, which is the case that when Tutankhamun's tomb was opened, they found jars with honey inside and upon tasting they realized that the honey was still good despite that it was preserved for thousands
they tasted tutankhamuns honey!!!

Fun fact: If a jar of food (such as the peanut butter jar) has no protective seal of any kind, then it was made before 1982. In 1982, 7 people were murded throughout Chicago after someone put cyanide in tylenol bottles that were in a store. This lead to nearly all products such as over-the-counter pill bottles, peanut butter jars, pringles, milk/juice jugs, etc. Having those protective seals.
Cool
i think its cool too
Thanks Sheldon ❤😂
Lol this is such bs, protective seals were very common in Europe long before 1982.
Maybe in Europe, but not the wild west!
As a baseball card collector, that card is sick! It's of John McGraw, who was inducted to the HOF as a manager. The card is worth at least a few hundred dollars in graded condition, but can still fetch that price with a PSA 1 or 2.
thanks for that fun fact

btw, those cans with the keys have a purpose. There's a small tab on the side of the can with a lip attached to a thin metal strip. The key wraps around the strip and peels off, opening the can.
Yeah they really botched those.

i love how satisfying they are when you open them correctly. i love watching videos of people opening 7.62x39 cases from ww2
The little piece you pulled off the can lid was the key for opening the can. It attaches to a tab on the side of the can just under rim and you turn the key to peel a thin band of metal away that attaches the lid to the can. Haven’t seen a can like that in decades. Sardine cans used those keys into the 80s.
REAL! My big brother talked to me about it, it pissed me off to be honest 😭

I love how those Star Wars gummies came out a decade before the movie was released, the characteristics of the characters were spot on!

Nick putting the Star Wars Episode 1 fruit snacks in the 70s when it came out in 1999 just made me do a dawww at how young he is and arrrrr at how old I am!
was looking for this comment
That's not an age thing, they just never actually seen the movies and assumed episode one must be the first.
They also said home computers went main stream in the 70s, which is not true at all. About 20 years off with that one
Oops! Yeah we had SO many products that it probably got mixed up by accident
Seeing the 20s-50s was a real treat. Seriously cool to see all of that history.
I really enjoyed this one, thanks Nick!

Oh, sweet young man! If you ever needed Lynja for a video it was this one. I was born in 1968 and this brought back so many memories both good and bad. Twinkies have always tasted funky but Kern's bakery(I think they were located in TN) made a cake called a banana flip that was the bomb diggers! Also, the metal key on the cans were supposed to come off, hooked into a slot around the rim, then rolled around the can to break the seal. Count Chocula and the other monster cereals totally tasted better in the '80's. Much more chocolate flavor. Loved this one!!❤
I like your cat in your profile

The good ol 2000's man. Thanks for bringing those memories back. I remember the rainbow goldfish the most, but they had no salt compared the the original flavor. Hope this video gets the credit. It deserves actually really cool.

They rushed it it was boring
As a Historian ima mention this Those Keys you see on the Cans Are actually quite cool. So you take the key off and theres a tab to slide the key into and you twist and it opens the can
Ohh cool
Why flexing with being historian lol .. as if you need to be one to know this common knowledge.
@@vomm Wasn't flexing anything? With the internet nowadays there's always that 1 kid who says "sOuRcE/!?!/1/!?1?!" so I usually Clarify it. Hopefully this helps 👍
I don't even know where to begin to say how poorly executed this video was.
You guys spent all this money on old food and just skipped ahead on 1/2 the items. Many of the food items you covered weren't even close to the right decade category. For the Jell-o, how do we know how long you kept that in the fridge for? That stuff takes multiple hours to set properly. You'd think a chef would know that. And some of the stuff were straight up lies like at 23:15 when they tried the "20 year old" Gushers and colored Goldfish that were literally just purchased off the shelf today. 20 year old gushers have paper packaging and those didn't. Plus they have the modern logo. For the goldfish, you can tell that they're brand new by the nutrition facts label which that design has only existed for the past 5 years.
There's so much more I can say that's wrong with this video, but those are just the highlights. Overall this video seems to just be structured for short attention span viewership retention (which is understandable, but should've been done with a different approach) and less about actually appreciating the history of these old food items. If I were you, I would've stuck to one or two food items for each decade to have more time talk about them. Too much stuff packed into too little time.
Welcome in 2020 lies and short span of attention.
Lol, star wars episode I from the 80´s. Good job on that one :P

You are amazing, you got this, and things will get better in your life, you will do great things, and so many people and I are proud of you. Your future is bigger than your past and your past does not define you are awesome and a warrior. Don’t hate yourself simply because of your past, forgive yourself, love yourself no matter what because you deserve the world and the great things in it.
