lol Jarod's subtle sense of humor is perfect for Conan.. Everytime Jarod is on he'll throw in these subtle quick sexual innuendo's like, "She doesn't like it from behind.."
The term "big cat" is typically used to refer to any of the five living members of the genus Panthera, namely the tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard, and snow leopard, as well as the non-pantherine cheetah and cougar. All other Cats are referred as small Cats.
I like to go back and re-watch these Jarod Miller clips every few years. By far the worst (and thus the best) zoologist Conan had on his show. His introduction says it all: “the world’s youngest zoologist, he’s in way over his head, and someone’s gonna get hurt.”
5:29 Conan is remarkable. Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree, is an old Australian folk song. Australian kids learn it very early at school or even before that. How Conan knew about it, I'll never know. But Kookaburras usually laugh at certain times of the day. Typically around dawn or sunset. You'll hear them laugh at other times but if it's dawn or dusk and there's a lot around you'll hear hundreds of them laughing (if you're in an area with lots of Kookaburras).
I’m a 30 year old American and I definitely heard that song on children’s tapes and learned it in school music classes. I’d be surprised if more people don’t know it. Sort of like “Wheels on the Bus” in my mind.
@@rachels.8051 I believe it's known in the English speaking world because of the Girl Scouts or Girl Guides who sing it. I remember reading a while ago that it was written in the 1930s by a lady in Melbourne, I think she was a teacher, and I guess it sort of picked up from there, maybe Conan learned it the same way you did, and the same way I did. When I was a kid everyone learned and sang that song, the same way you did. But yeah being Australian I didn't, when I was a boy, even realise Americans knew what Kookaburras were. Plus with the allusions to gum trees which abound nearly everywhere in Australia, or most places. I wouldn't have thought Americans, Canadians etc would be singing that song. It's actually pretty cool that it's spread around the world.
It was a song on a children's cassette that my parent used to play for me and my sisters on road trips when we were little. We'd all sing along to it. I'm from North America.
@@Sofia-ik3sl That's great. I can picture it. We sang it in class mainly. It's one of the earliest songs I can remember learning. It's quite a pleasant thing that Americans, Australians, Canadians and perhaps even British and Irish and others know and sing this song as youngsters. The only thing is, there's a Kookaburra that lives near my window and when it laughs, in the morning it sometimes wakes me up. Sometimes it flies into my window too, over and over it will fly into the glass, fly away then fly into the glass again. They sometimes swoop, but they're not known to be as aggressive swooping birds like magpies. I think the kookaburra near my window sees it's reflection and then flies toward it. Some of the coolest birds here are lyrebirds. They mimic very accurately the sounds they hear. It's honestly remarkable. Like they can mimic the sounds of a busy road, or a train or anything else. I don't know how they do it, but it's quite something. And they sing too, it's a strange call, it sounds like this, "whoooooo-YIP". I live near a rainforest so there are lots of wildlife here. I can hear the birds right now actually. It's nearly 5am and that's when they start to sing.
I might be showing my age a little bit here (36), but are me and Conan some of the only Americans taught the Kookaburra song as children? An Aussie friend I had was amazed I knew it. At this point I'm convinced we were just taught it to confuse potential Australian friends.
