This is technically a re-release from Kubey. It is Sherif Manganas' first commercially produced design. He also made the Kubey Momentum, Kubey Ruckus, and the Kizer Grazioso.
Thanks for the rundown on this I love that the community are so knowledgeable.
Cool
I really like it when designers depart from the mainstream. I admire their willingness to put a risky design out there.
It's a beautiful design. It isn't your standard everyday design, but it is still a very useful and self defense knife. I have the same exact 1 and I have over 600 knives and get more compliments with this knife rather than 400 or 500 dollar knives. It's really amazing looking once you anodize with the bead blasted blade. I haven't picked up a manganas knife I don't like yet. I like that he didn't use a standard everyday blade shape, like 95% of knives these days. Mine came very sharp, and I like the shadows and lines this knife has. S90v is great like you said and for a titanium s90v from white mountain with discount code for 150$. That's a steal. The more you use this knife the more it grows on you. I love the ting sound when opening and closing. Job well done.
Love that flipper .great looking knife .been wanting one to add to collection
I LOVE this design.
Its an interesting and sleek design
Hey metal_complex any chance that blue and black crooked river is for sale?
Complex please HELP! Can’t decide between Microtech Anax or a purple fat carbon Mini Evo.. what would MC do??
I have the previous model that Kubey produce of this knife. I bought it mainly for its cool style. Also that finger choil cuts down on the lenght of cuts because in reality the cutting edge is only 3". I'm not a fan of finger choils to begin with because I use a "pinch grip" if I do any detail work with this knife or any knife. I'm from the school of thought where you keep your finger off the knife edge. Plus the finger choil will trap any rope or twine that I'm cutting and I have to keep moving the cutting material back onto the knife edge. Accidents can and do happen when you put your finger on a cutting edge. I totally agree that the blade could have been wider...and still have a nice design. Good review.
Another interesting design feature is how the milling on the handle mirrors the hole in the blade. I like the flame anodized version of this knife. I am currently considering this knife in flame ano and the WE Mini Malice in flame ano. Thoughts?
I had a hard time deciding between the ano and the non ano version until I watched the video where Manganas talked about the design on his channel. Though the ano looks great and well done on this, I ultimately felt like it muddied some of the design elements.
It was a real pleasure hearing Manganas talk so passionately about this design.
I think you will really like Sherif Manganas upcoming knife the Caimano. Saw the prototype on Said Stevie and Matisfaction's channel.
You should see my kubey. It has a strange chisel tip with a different grind than the rest of the edge bevel. I don't even know what it is called.
S90V is probably one of my favorite pocketknife steel. And I wish more companies switched to it, like We Knife etc.
What exactly do you find to be better about it compared to other options, I've been leaning towards 154cm for my next knife.
@@SilentSalad Better edge retention and just overall better steel at the hardness they like to put out (59-61HRC). At that Hardness S90V is way better than M390/20CV.
I like the design, seems lil pricey but looks great
Doesn't it suck when he never answers all the questions we ask? But I gave him a thumbs up regardless.
Off balance is what I would say. The blade size is out of proportion to the handle. I like the overall aesthetic but the blade seems like it's about 25% too small in relation to the handle.
I need the scale
200 is good for that ?
THANKS M.C‼️👍👍🔪
Have to give them credit for being different 😊👍
They could just sandwich the clip inside next to the back spacer. Make cutouts that hold it in place and let the pressure of all the other screws on the knife hold it in place. Or something like that.
sandwhich? That's real cute, spelled like it sounds but remove the first "h" next time, thus sandwich.
@@Jeff82556 Thanks, I'll call you tomorrow to schedule our next tutoring session.
I love that you’re so triggered by sleeve screws.
*triggered* 😂😂😂
Pretty sure he just thinks it’s annoying. Because they are. It’s a review my guy. What did you invent sleeve screws or something? Out here white knighting for the sleeve screw alliance 🤣
@@landontreinen3062 not at all white knighting I genuinely just like that small things frustrate mc in the same way I get frustrated. But sleeve screws are very reliable and robust I’m a lineman and that’s what’s used to hold the gaffs into climbing spikes.
Definitely one of the knives of all time 😅
Favorite kubeys?
thanks again for pointing out the lack of lefty friendly designs, however righties can have this one all to yourself. 😅
The Barracuda comes in at $155 for s30v, why not spend the extra $45 for s90v?
Not enough gain for $45. Slightly better edge retention and durability but harder to sharpen.
Crap. I just ordered one of the anniversary WE knives. I like this a lot
Apparently they cut back on the blade to cut back on the price ...
Somehow the blade looks like something is missing. A double barreled gun in 0.1" for example with the barrels in the "blood groove". I am n ot a big fan of grooves or breakthroughs in a knife blade. After cutting food with such a blade, it needs to be constantly cleaned, with something which reaches in all the tiny spots, way too much effort for me.
Yeah Sherif design!
It's pronounced (VEH-LOE-CHAY)
Personally I like the blade.
Just look at it
Ve- lo- chee....is how to pronounce it I believe
Not moi koind of knoif but oui loik thit eats well moid.
Pokey stabby, lol
Gimme sum belly!
Sorry mc it’s not a custom
Why is this knife tip up only? They have the realestae to easily do it right and make it tip down but go out of their way to make it tip up. I'll never carry a tip up knife. It's an inherently stupid design.
If you have some Spanish you'll know how to pronounce this lol its pronounced Vel-o-CHe, veloce means speed in Spanish.
Its also an english word.
