Dude I'm always having trouble using my electronics in my water fountain! I hope this helps!!
Most definitely, I'm looking into a 2006 Jetta. My friend owned n '05 Passat and I instantly fell in love with VW.
Nice video btw, It's cool to see products like this one. I could definitely use this and may not have heard about it otherwise. I love the fact that it sits in the cup holder where it wont move vs laying on the floorboard or in someones lap/seat.
Your videos keep getting better keep up the good work!
This guy is probably one the most informed and hard working tech guys on youtube. He deserves a nice car. Good for you Linus. Boss.
I don't have a BMW. I drive my super civic, and I also have a motorbike. My wife has a VW Rabbit. We bought them all used, and I'm pretty sure all 3 of those vehicles combined cost less than the BMW I was sitting in :p
totally on a road trip this is awesome!
Thanks for clearing up the inverter part. I need something to invert my cups.
Just picked up one of these, still super useful exactly what I needed and got it for an absolute bargain
Yeah my left knee is actually kinda borked from commuting in my standard :p My wife has an auto and while I generally don't like driving autos, the VW auto on the rabbit with sport mode is very responsive compared to many of the other options out there.
I could see myself definitely using this during a road trip or driving to another state for vacation.
Nice video Linus I liked the justification scenario :D
your reviews are really really good!
Things like this are awesome for road trips. Last one I went on was very similar, except it was 2 laptops, a tablet, and, a hotspot.
Man I love you Linus!
I have a 300 W eliminator unit in my moms car... Awesome unit. Linus, you should do a FAP episode on Deep cycle vs starter batteries when using inverters
Excellent!!!! Hope it becomes available in Australia.
This is why I love ur videos
It's awesome for road trips! Must get!
There is nothing super about my Civic. It doesn't even have AC or power windows. It's a 2003 before they overhauled the Civic for more horsepower.
Linus Tech Tips hi
Like the setup
I can see that usage scenario on a long road trip. Me and 3 of my friends driving across Europe.... yeah, I can see us using that Energizer thing.
Nice setup Linus. I already do this in my car but that's a little too over extreme but good concept 😉
i always enjoy your vids linus xD
Personally I loved the Shine 3 when I saw it, but it's so hard to go without mechanical in the meantime... Sorry I don't know what to tell you. Maybe post on the LinusTechTips forum and ask for opinions?
I have an older but similar device, basically gives me a plug socket in the car which means I can run anything on it, not just USB devices. Been invaluable over the years, especially when I take my trip to LeMans once a year.
awesome for long trips
Great video! Thank you!
Linus in case you do not get pure sine wave from the inverter, then switching power supply will be damaged (power supply that come with laptops and other similar products), you can run the products are built on transformatiorer. fluorescent lights will not work but the bulbs will.
Tried to use a tire inflator from my 2002 Civic's power port, without the car engine turned on. It drained the battery to dead, had to jump start with my battery buddy which you can charge in the house and use when needed. Might want to make sure this thing works while car is off without draining your battery. Probably good idea to leave engine running while using this thing.
I noticed that too. It's a 2010 or newer BMW X1...
Should have put links to everything mentioned in description!
you can get ones with massive amounts of wattage, its just that you'll drain the 12V battery really quickly and generally it won't fit in your cup holder. they are a standard peice of kit and are available in most places.
weird, didn't see it in my last visit at the website...
but apparently future shop have it and they equal the price to amazon plus free shipping in a day!
When I was an oil field medic... LTE modem + msi GT laptop + 3TB external + iphone4 + PSP Vita all running off a 1000W motomaster inverter, usually at the same time. It was pretty awesome. Truck was always running, F350 converted into a fake ambulance called an MTC.
Nice BMW
For anyone wondering, I believe it's an X3 that I saw in one of his outdoor unboxings of a motherboard.
Linus, you have some really nice stuff :O
2012 BMW 3-Series. Nice car linus.
Hi Linus, Good video always :)
very interesting product!
Excellent video! Very informative. Yes, I can see myself using this device.
Holy black magic of Zecora, the video loops.
Linus I actually like the commercial at the beginning of the video, gives me a few seconds to look at the top comments and decide if I agree with them or not.
Hell yeah I would use this! Probably not all 5 slots but I would use it.
actually its not. ohms law calculates the resistance of circuits based on current and voltage denoted by the Formula I = V/R. while principle of power is based on work applied over a certain time period. a watt = joules/seconds. but through various means of unit conversions, you can denote it as Current x Voltage.
I have an old panel van with loads of plug sockets, but this thing looks cool though. Not sure if I would want a load of cables running everywhere- be handy if the 12v socket was in the back seat..+ got a signal booster on my roof instead of an aerial for top quality internet...vans rule and cheaper than cars + get loadsa mates inside
Does it got a stabile Sinus rhythm?
i know that it could potential destroy your devices if it's not stable
look at him working in his BMW !! Keep it up
Curse you Linus!
Now I need this for my family road trip to avoid all that... Talking stuff people do when they don't have electronics!
Thanks for the vid, keep up the good work.
Now I can finally charge my laptop from my water fountain! I have been waiting for this for years!
on roadtrips i tend to use close to that (my 4g hotspot running, my tablet/nav system/jukebox, my driving buddy's phone) i havent had to use 5 devices though
What kind of car is that? Interior is really nice!
Subscribed just for this
This may be useful for Auto Techs who do computer diagnostics on cars. one person drives, whil the other can use a laptop to monitor information on a laptop from a cars OBDII port.
are you talking about consistency? I have tested the output with my multimeter and it is a stable 116v (15.6v) while running. my lighter plug doesn't work with the car off.
Nice review. I wonder how clean is the USB output. As for device itself I can't find it in Europe, nor can I locate the Fuel+ battery product.
it's like seeing my whole room moved into linus's car
damn that boy can talk. thumbsup. cool piece of kit and good demo.
Already have 2 USB slots built into my radio, looks cool though. BTW nice car, not all of us have the same taste but I own a BMW as well and it's a pleasure to drive.
fyi the x1 and 5 series has exact same interior but the pillars angle seems to be much more inclined in the 5 seires than this one wich is why i concluded that i was a x1
Does Noctua make any good 200mm fans?
My MSI Laptop has a 180w Power brick, is it bad to run it at max wattage for extended periods of time, or is that perfectly safe?
That's not an X1!That's the BMW X5 that's also featured in the outdoor unboxing of the GTX 780.It appears to belong to Diesel.
Even if you could us it directly, you'll need to convert the 12 volt DC to whatever voltage is needed for your other devices. USB uses standard 5v, but notebooks can vary. Cheaper and easier to go with the standard 110AC.
Linus, not gonna lie. I like you even better for the fact that you appreciate good cars. BTW You have to make a video with Slicks Ferrari, I mean pontiac.
- Tahmid Siddique
I have a thing similar to this and it blows the fuse to the 12v power outlet in the car quite frequently and it was only charging the gps and 2 small phone chargers one for a phone and one for a tablet
"on the super circuits volts amps converter you can key in any two values to get the other value"
OR Volts x Amp = Watts
Where did you get your information? I have read nothing that would suggest that the new Mustangs will only be available with an automatic transmission.
I used something similar to hook up a used surround sound system in the back of my car. It was freakin thumpin!
Omg I looooooove your shirt!!!
will there be a version with a UK three pin plug?
The Linus Media Group should include a link to the product to buy or to the page of their website with the product!
Move to northern Ontario and you don't have to deal with interstates. BTW Sudbury still doesn't have an NCIX. We have at least four other major electronics retailers though, Futureshops and Best Buys. You need to rescue us.
Ooh, looks like you have a BMW X5 :) How well did the battery in the car perform when you were charging one or two devices, as opposed to five? I have an X5 as well, but I would only use the product for 1-2 devices. P.S. X6s suck :)
I want one. You never know when it will come in handy.
I have a very important comment here. It's about sine waves.
That device might say that it charges your laptop and phone and whatnot, but it's probably using a modified sine wave, which is very dangerous to batteries and charge cycles. Pure sine wave inverters are harder to get and more expensive.
If you plug a charger into the 110 AC receptacle, you will kill the battery of whatever you charge.
However, there is still hope: the USB ports are DC voltage (not inverted) so those are fine.
So is each use outlet 2.1 amps?
this would be an amazing device for road trips, if i were to use this i would replace the fuel battery pack with my tomtom 1.
Love the t-shirt.
actually a pretty realistic situation IMO. though the nearest water fountain is miles away from me....
Do an unboxing of the Coleman 7.5W folding solar panel! It has a USB port and sits perfectly on a cars dashboard! It also has a cigarette plug for keeping you car's battery topped up :P
so mpg drops from the already low 30 to like 20? :P while operating al these devices.
maybe take a kindle :P
wicked
LinusAutoTips? Do a vlog of your vehicles? I remember you riding a sweet bike for one of your videos.
two tumbs up Linus!
yes it is, the dashboard has an idrive hud.
Wow.. even the car points out what we already know about Slick... "Virgin", with a checkmark.. 2:56 top left handcorner of the screen
:D
We love you Slick, and Linus, so I was just keeeeeeeding.
Could've done that demo easier by just having all four of you (Linus, Slick, Diesel, B-Roll) in the car all charging your phones while you did work. That's a very realistic situation, especially for you guys.
Looks like a 3 series since it seens really low! Could be a 5 too!
Most laptops run off of AC now. I have taken several newer laptops apart, only to find a 'hot' (black wire), 'neutral' (white), and a ground wire on occasion (copper).
You could plug the usb connectors into the laptop and have like three more spaces free?
I love my manual, but I can't deny the benefits of an auto during "stop and go" traffic, especially since the interstate I have to drive on is being widened. (Get tired of using the clutch after a while) ^_^
Hello,i have an packard bell ixtreme with amd phenom 2 x4 820 quad processor, what cpu can i put instead so will work with the motherboard i have? please answer,i apreciate
how do i know if im entered in the contest you are running from the convention videos
Can u maybe do more build guides
If you plug in your ipod touch can you play music through the radio?
Wow, a bit different but also refreshing and interesting. More fun and unique stuff like this and I might become a regular vistor.
Pretty good, just keep going like that :)
"Which i think we can all agree is a water fountain"
LOL
What laptop did you use in the demonstration at 4:00
Sure I would use it, we have a 1600Km way to my home country ;D That is 23hr drive haha.
How much does it cost?
