honestly, like this is such a good idea for a sonic boss fight I'm so glad they experiemnted with the rings not all droping all the time, finding unique ways in which you lose rings to make different fights feel fresh instead of the usual "get hit lose all rings get the one!" and using terrain as part of the boss encounter? fantastic design
@@misanthropiclusion I'd like if enemies didn't die so easily to normal attacks. But I love how all Guardian fights can't be one shotted and that intteracting with their puzzle weakness is the way you best them.
@@misanthropiclusion The bosses in this game go hard. Especially the titans. Except Supreme but we are getting an update hopefully to make that WAY better. There’s no reason at all we have these amazingly designed Titan fights in Giganto, Wyvern, and Knight and the last one is so easy you can beat with only having 100 rings.

I beat the game before finding this boss. It's kind of a secret boss tbh... there's many statues around the island and you have to interact exclusively with the one with a sphere on top. With that said, I was so hyped to see this thing move around, the whole idea was creative and the music was thrilling. Totally worth exploring the entire island.
I originally played this on normal difficulty, and the guardian icon for this enemy didnt show up. So when I streamed this on twitch on the Hard difficulty, I was suprised there was a guardian icon on the map, but no guardian!!! (I didn't know of Ghost's existence so I was looking for a moving enemy) instead the icon is pointing me to a statue and it told me to press X... So my guess is that it wasn't meant to be fought on normal or easy. But Hard (and also extreme) will lead you to it.
What makes this Guardian my favorite is how it’s not just the exact same boss in a different spot, since it uses the surrounding environment as a part of it’s battle.

Many of the Guardians, I feel, feel designed to intimidate through raw power. This one uniquely feels like it intimidates through sheer creepiness, and it leaves a memorable impact.
After battling all three variants of this enemy there's an Easy, Medium and Hard (Long post alert. but it's a walkthrough of each version) The Easy one is found close the starting location. It's close Caterpillar and a Cyberspace portal. by "easy" I mean, it's kinda hard to screw up. The paths are idiot-proof The Medium or the slightly challenging one is found in the southwest of the island This the one in the video, and the one for the Battle rush mode. Close to the Cyan Emerald, and an Elder Coco. If you fall down once, there are paths from the ground in case you mess up... but you need pay attention which path leads to where since it could go to the wrong statue. OH.. starting from this one, it can actually attack you. The small tendrils it has on its head can be launched at you to slow you down and stop you from cylooping the statue. This attack will drain 10 to 50 rings per hit (that you cannot recollect). Hope you have those Defense seeds handy!!! you need to mash A (Xbox), X (PS) or B (Sw) to recover (I dunno for Keyboard. I use controller for PC. but it's the jump button.) Finally the last one is located north of the locked island, East of Red Pillar. Combining the Black hole attacks, (where it sucks rings faster if you are close to it) and the tendril attacks.... And the fact that spaghetti environment has some vertical direction... and some statues are too far apart... Even with 999 rings, this Ghost gave me an actual hard time!!!

it looks like Blacephalon. and it's name is "Ghost" now I think about it, ghosts live in a different plane of existence which is why normal attacks can't touch it... JUST LIKE GHOST POKEMON AND THIS GHOST!!!
You can actually find the Guardian markers of ghost on Hard or Extreme difficulty. But if you want to look for them on Normal or Easy 1st is East of the Island close to the starting location. Next to Caterpillar and a Cyberspace Portal. 2nd is in the video. Southwest of the Island close to a Cyan Chaos Emerald and a Hermit Coco. The Last one is on the Locked island. East of Red Pillar, south of the Cyberspace portal. I wrote it in this order since that's how I rank the difficulty of each one.
Long story short: This miniboss will drain away your rings and try to slow you down. You can't directly attack it, but whichever tower its linked to, destroying the tower will harm it.
This is such an elaborate mini boss. Three phases? Musical shifts? A unique mechanic?

Thanks for letting me know it was the one with the sphere on top. Ghost was the last one I needed to get the Threats Identified achievement.

This boss is a rare case of me not being spoiled about its mechanics before encountering it. This thing is so anxiety inducing.

You have to interact with the tower, they won't do anything if you just near team
Yea they're only involved with like 2-3 tokens and even then you can always get around the ropes they lower
if you played normal or Easy, the Guardian marker never shows up.

this is literally just the psychic big brain guys from system shock 2 lol. I guess they stole cyberspace and shodan from that game too
