More Eggman dialogue was something the game needed.
I know it was just a vessel for exposition. But i kind of like how eager eggman is to explain the tech to everyone. Gives the impression that he just respects knowledge in genral in a much purer form than just as a tool for his goals.
So not only is Chaos a mutated Ancient, he’s a combo of all five tribes. He was big and strong as Chaos 2, had a tail as Chaos 4, walked on 4 legs as Chaos 6, and the other two tribes must have been the theoretical Chaos 3 and 5 that we never saw.
The Ancients: Super advanced civilization of technological marvels and feats of engineering.
Also The Ancients: Rock stacking contests.
I like that it explains that the reason Amy Tails and Knuckles combat gameplay isnt as strong as Sonic is because they're still half ghost, not that they are weaker than him

Sage: Yes. It seems the places must’ve been leased from your memories the way Sonic has.
Shadow: You’re right. He and I have many adventures on the Ark, the Black Comet, and more.
I never get tired of Sonic and Eggman taking jabs at each other.
Think Eggman just needs a friend to talk about science shit with and he’d be not trying to dominate the world
Not gonna lie, I was kinda expecting Knuckles to be cautious of Sage after their last 2 encounters on Ares Island. But they actually having casual conversations with each other like they've developed a relationship.

Which is why he gets better after Classic shows up, because his presence gives Tails hope and some peace of mind.

There's a similar interaction with Tails and Sage. When she explains why only the death egg robot on Chaos Island works and he's like "Oh I see. [Repeats what she said]. That's why it worked"
The Eggman conversations are mostly exposition, but I do appreciate the payoff of his decision to analyze Cyberspace in one of the first cutscenes we see him in.

If there is no such thing as magic then how does Sonic have super speed, How does Shadow teleport, shoot chaos spears out of his hands, and release a giant explosion called chaos blast, how can Amy summon a hammer out of thin air, and use cards to see in the future, and how does Silver lift things with his mind and so on.

Sliver: Yeah, we were investigating some ruins on Coral Cave, but then we got teleported and I got separated form her and got trapped in Rhen Island while she was on Ares Island. And then Shadow appeared and freed us from those stupid cages.
Sonic: Yeah. Still, I’m glad you’re back to her at each other on this island, Sliver.

When tails says he wouldn’t mind working with eggman he is kinda talking out of his ass, My man was literally fuming in lost world when they worked together.
I think Tails is referring to Sonic Adventure 2 where he had to work with Eggman in order so shut down the Eclipse Cannon in the Last Story.
I love how Amy is no longer the annoying girl chasing Sonic all the time and demanding to him to be with her 24/7, especially how she was in Sonic Heroes. Now, Amy treats Sonic like an actual friend. Because of this, he doesn’t wanna stay away from her anymore. She’s been like this since Sonic Lost World.
Roger Craig Smith still has what it takes to be the greatest & best voice of Sonic. Same for Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails. While I prefer Travis Willingham as Knuckles, Dave B. Mitchell as Knuckles has been starting to grow on me (which means I’ve been warming up to it). Dave B. Mitchell is a great Knuckles. Cindy Robinson’s still got it as the greatest & best voice of Amy. Finally, absolutely NO ONE can top Mike Pollock as Eggman. He’s perfect!

Shadow: Like I said to Blaze, years ago, I made a promise to my friend. The promise to protect this world and its people with their heart and soul.
Sage: What happened?
Shadow: It was all happened to my past. I was evil some time ago, but then I remembered my true destiny and became what I am now. All I wanted was to protect peace.
Sage: It seems you must been battled Sonic for years. But together you stop the Ark. My father rescue you with one of his robots. And you saved him and his friends from Black Doom.
Shadow: Yeah. I’ve also defeat the Ifrit with your brother, Metal Sonic.
Sage: Metal Sonic?
Shadow: Yeah. My friend, Maria would say: Give them the chance. The way I do.
Sage: I never met Maria. But she sounds brilliant.
Shadow: And you know what? So are we.
WOAH WOAH WOAH THERE SAGE! Are you implying that the mural depicting Super Sonic fighting the Flying Death Egg Robot in Hidden Palace from Sonic 3 and Knuckles that was the inspiration for Shadow’s appearance was actually painted by the Ancients?
We know the Ancients created the Shrine of the Emeralds, and they likely created Hidden Palace as well to hide them away [which is why Knuckles knew to do that with the Master Emerald before S3&K.]
Plus, with how the Knuckles tribe was so barbaric and warmongering, it actually makes far more sense for the Ancients to have created all the prophecy and Emerald stuff on Angel Island while evolving into Chao over thousands of years.
So, with the Ancients heavily implied to have created the Hidden Palace, and with Pachacamac and his likely similarly warlike forefathers likely shunning anyone in the Knuckles tribe who'd waste time and resources creating such a mural/mosaic, the Ancients are all but confirmed to have been the artists.

Rouge: When I get back to the Federation, I could tell the bosses about the secrets about the Master Emerald.
Knuckles: Are you after the Master Emerald again?!
Rouge: No. I just investigated about how did the Ancients use it along with the Chaos Emeralds.
Knuckles: Of course. I seem to remember Eggman stole the Master Emerald for the 1st time before you on the Ark. Besides , it’s my job to protect it as the last of the Echidnas.

Eggman: So you travelling to Starfall Islands to find your teammates after they’ve investigate for what I’m up to.
Shadow: Yes, Eggman. My friends and I were been investigate about what happened to the first Chaos Controllers and who created Chaos Control before me.
Eggman: It seems the Ancients use Chaos Control before Black Doom, the Black Arms and you, of course. My grandfather created you as the Ultimate Life From and the Master of Chaos Control.
Shadow: So that’s why I was born with my Chaos Powers.
Amy: "You know, I've noticed that there's no sign of any animals on this island..."

Sage: You’re Princess Blaze the Cat, the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, are you?
Blaze: Yeah. I’m also the member of Team Vertor with Sliver. I wonder if the Ancients use the Sol Emeralds in my dimension. When I was exploring on Ares Island with Shadow, I heard the history of Chaos Control.
Sage: Yes, they did.
Blaze: What?!
Sage: The first Chaos Controllers were teleported the Sol Dimension. It was given to the Sol Emeralds guardians before you was born.
Blaze: You did know. I should tell my friends about this. That’s for sure.
Sage: i’m sure you will.

Sonic: So one of the Emeralds was yours. Where did you get that?
Shadow: I won it over in GUN Fortress. I fight some battles on the test simulators. When I arrived in Kronos Island, I crashed my motorcycle and lost the Emerald by the accident. My Dark Rider fall to the sea. I decided to come back and lifted.
Sonic: No worries, Shad. We’ll get your friends back to normal and we’ll get your motorcycle and your Emerald back. So you and your teammates will go back to work for GUN. Sliver can get back to the future and Blaze will return home to her dimension to guard the Sol Emeralds.
Shadow: I know, and we will.
The lore regarding the titans designs was very interesting.
I wonder if the other tribes were Chaos esc aswell?
The mention of one tribe having a tail was interesting considering Chaos apparently has a tail yet only has it in his Chaos 6 form.

Same about the Animals being migrated off the Starfall islands...I wonder if those animals became the Mobians
Wait, so there were 4 other Tribes alongside the Ancients/Chaos that all went extinct fighting against the End, and each got Titans based off them....and the pilots all had animal names including Crane's Supreme, Tiger the Knight, Snake who piloted Wyvern, and Dragon who operated Giganto. It was also stated that Chaos 0's ancestors were the most advanced of the 5 Tribes...
Its logical to assume that the Boom universe/timeline hadn't had to deal with The End or The Ancient Chaos at all, explaining the vastly different timeline, one without the Chaos Emeralds, a less technology based society, and an Evil Snake who was one of "The Ancients"
However, there were certain scenarios that remained the same in both histories - Knuckles is still the last echidna, Amy has a crush on Sonic, Tails is Sonic's bestie, and Dr Eggman tries to dominate the planet (though on a much smallee scale)
Since most of Eggman's biggest plans relied on the Emeralds, he never became a major threat, and thus is more of a weekly nuisance.
It's even possible that Shadow was born naturally in the Boom universe, as he seemingly has no backstory, making it possible he fulfilled the Ultimate Lifeform Profecy anyways. It'd also of note that he's more of a Neutral Evil, rather than Modern's anti-hero alignment.
I wonder if Shadow was here too? He, Rouge, E-123 Omega, Sliver and Blaze should chat with Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Eggman, Sage too.
(Sonic and Shadow, Part 1)
Sonic: How did you get here so far from the Federation?
Shadow: GUN sent me to Starfall Islands to find my teammates after they investigate what Eggman was up to. So, I drove to Central City’s docks with my Dark Rider and intro the boat. In daytime, I chased you and your friends on the Tornado and into the wormhole just as you got separate from your friends. So I used Chaos Control to teleport out with one of the Emeralds, then got appeared to the Cyber Space of Radical Highway. And then, I got out.
Sonic: To the 1st of the Starfall Islands.
Shadow: Yeah. Kronos Island, where Rouge was there too.
(Part 2)
Shadow: After I found Rouge on Kronos Island, where you found Amy, I’ve freed Sliver, Blaze, and Omega on the other islands.
Sonic: Omega was on Chaos Island, where Tails was there too. Blaze and Knuckles on Ares Island. Where did you found Sliver?
Shadow: Rhen Island. When we get corrupted by cyber energy.
Sonic: (Sighs) Right. Cyber Energy.

Sliver and Blaze would investigating some ruins on the Sol Dimension before they transport to there. Blaze on Ares Island and Sliver on Rhen Island.

Gotta be honest, wasn't personally a fan of Amy's "I'm not just a damsel in distress anymore!" line. It felt very dismissive and ignorant of all the things she accomplished in previous games. Plus she says it in the game where she was... literally the damsel in distress. Amy shouldn't need to have her cutesy, feminine personality and crush completely removed from her character in order to feel more "empowered". Remember, Amy's been able to:
- Infiltrated both Prison Island and one of Eggman's bases, saving both Sonic (with Tails' help) and Elise respectively.
- Helps Birdie find his family.
- Organized Team Rose and personally lead the search for Froggy and Chocola when they went missing.
- Helps to fight off the Black Arms when they invade the planet.
- Intimidated Storm, a pretty powerful character, into leading her back to Sonic and gang when she got separated from them.
Amy's BEEN a capable character. She can still be adorable and head over heels for Sonic while being an absolute little powerhouse. Balancing those two traits out is what makes her interesting; trying to remove that is what made her pretty bland in this game.

@@aortaplatinum I REALLY don't want to just shit on Ian for writing her like that, especially when he did such an amazing job fixing Knuckles and Sonic (and fixing their bromance). But criticism where criticism's due, he really got too "on the nose" with some of his writing. And I personally feel like he's not great at writing feminine characters. Like he's seemingly got no problem writing girl characters (haven't read the IDW comics but I hear people like Whisper, Tangle, and Surge a lot), but MAN Amy could have been handled better.

Amy hasn't been a damsel since SA1. The whole story arc was about her becoming stronger. And she already rescued Sonic in SA2!

The Ancients degraded into Chao due to radiation from the Master Emerald, and then one of the Chao became an Ancient again.

What I've been thinking is that Chaos could be an avatar, or manifestation, of that god. It could have decided to incarnate as a Chao and activate its genetic potential in order to be able to protect the rest of the Chao.
I believe its true form to be a non-physical entity judging by how its symbol appears only when an Ancient's soul is released from a Koco. It's possible that whenever that symbol appears in Cyber Space, those souls are being granted safe passage to a higher plane of existence. It could be one of Cyber Space's many functions.
