I’ve been waiting for this to happen since Rourke left the CFL. This kid has very real potential.
As a Canadian and a CFL fan, I approve this signing 😊
I am 76 years old and have watched a few American quarterbacks who were starters in the Canadian Football League become starters in the NFL. They were all great quarterbacks in Canada and then had good or even great NFL careers. One even won a Super Bowl. That would be Joe Theisman in Super Bowl 17 with Washington. Also Warren Moon, Jeff Garcia, Doug Flutie, Joe Kapp, Sam Etcheverry and Tobin Rote started for NFL teams. The CFL is not an easy game to master with 12 men, only 3 downs, lots of motion and a larger field. Many NCAA Division 1 players especially QBs’ do not do well there. A quarterback has a lot to process with one less down to work with. A Canadian quarterback Mark Rypien with Washington also won a Super Bowl I think in 1991 but did not have a CFL career.
My point is, of the list I just mentioned I feel Warren Moon, Doug Flutie and Joe Theismann were exceptional. In the 2 brief years that Nathan Rourke was in the CFL he was the best QB I have ever seen who adapted so quickly. His physical skills and mental processing in game time are exceptional. His lower core is strong with great balance and his agility and speed are deceivingly underrated. I only want to see him get a fair opportunity and I believe he will do well.
He is driven, confident, mentally focused and a great leader!

100% on the money! BC Lions fan here... have been watching CFL since Moon was playing with the Eskimos. Rourke is a generational talent. I've never seen anyone in the last 40 years who basically ripped up the record book -- and in the CFL that's a damned thick publication.

Just saw some of his Jacksonville preseason highlights. He's got poise in the pocket, a good arm, and some brass balls. Not a cannon of an arm like Lock, but more zip on it than Jones and DeVito.
QB competition is healthy competition. Plain and simple. Keep Jones on his toes...

Im excited about this because if Rourke shows us something better than playoff DJ, we have a guy who can take over and do something special. This guy was damn near unsackable against Dallas, we need that!
What you saw against Dallas was basically Rourke's baseline -- not some off the charts performance for him. He made those kinds of TD throws and sack escapes on a regular basis.
Yes I am Canadian but a Bills fan. I am excited for Nathan who played football in this area of Burlington and Oakville, Ontario situated about half way between Toronto and Buffalo, N.Y.

I watched some film on Nathan Rourke and I feel he can make the roster, when he gets his turn during preseason he'll prove that he's the guy at least for this season. I want Dj starting until week 3 max but Rourke needs to be the backup, I don't see him losing to Drew Lock sorry.

Marshall you did good job of providing accurate info on Nathan Rourke. I believe Nathan has what it takes to be a QB2/3 but due to NFL POLITICS he will be back in the CFL. NFL politics sucks for any CFL player trying to make it in the NFL. Oh well, CFL will gain having Nathan back.
This is so true. I still remember the comments on the Phinsider back in the day: "Cameron WHO?", "CFL reject", "Cameron Wake? Never heard of him." Too many folks willing to dismiss without even bothering to take a look.

I give them a preliminary "C+" -- because Rourke is significantly better than most US viewers realize. I've seen every snap he's taken as a pro (CFL and NFL), and there's absolutely zero question in my mind that he could start for a handful of NFL teams, and be an uncontested no. 2 for another dozen or so franchises.
He vastly outperformed CJ Beathard in every conceivable metric during preseason last year with the Jags, yet still ended up no. 3 on the depth chart and ultimately was lost on waivers after Jacksonville tried to play practice squad roulette with him. In New England, he moved up from no. 3 to no. 2 on the NE depth chart within a couple weeks at the end of the season. His biggest challenge is overcoming the still-pervasive skepticism of CFL talent, and particularly quarterbacks. Dude's been successful everywhere he's played. He's legit. Have doubts? That's ok.... I understand that. Give the guy a good look, and THEN decide where you think he slots in. IF Rourke ultimately finds himself as the no. 2 or better, my vote moves up to a "B".
Your videos "not from the studio" are MUCH better than ones from the studio. When you're in the studio, you have that fake and cheesy radio voice. When you're at home, you talk like a normal person and it sounds more authentic, more relatable, less fake.

As a BC Lions fan it's been painful watching Rourke bounce around the fringes of an NFL roster without getting much of a shot. I'll still follow him wherever he goes, and I guess New York is the next stop. Hi, Giants fans! 👋
I would grade the Giants current quarterback roster a C. Since I don't believe they have anyone who could be labeled as a franchise quarterback and lead the Giants to a Super Bowl, I can't go any higher than a C. It's up to either Daniel Jones or Drew Lock to prove me wrong..

We miss him here in Jacksonville. The Jaguars organization should have never let him go. But we did get the coaches son on the active squad instead...Jaguars organization is dysfunctional. Khan should be forced to sell.
For the life of me I can't understand how the Jags put Beathard ahead of Rourke after preseason. Rourke handily outperformed CJB by every possible metric. 🤷♂

I also think DeVito can become a fantastic backup/journeyman guy, à la Ryan Fitzpatrick. That's not a knock at all. That job is not as easy as it looks. Those guys can also be a lot of fun! And this has nothing to do with Sopranos culture or any of that. I can't stand that whole thing. But I respect DeVito in spite of it.
Are we really going to have a qb competition with a back up making 5 mil and a cfl player and a 40 mil qb in Jones… wtf Giants.
Not sure what to think. Undistinguished college career at Ohio, had accuracy issues (58.7% comp. percentage in 3 years). Lit up the CFL in 2022 (pro rate to 17 games, 5693 passing yards, 42 TD's). I guess it's possible between 2019 and 2022 he learned how to play. Daboll is known as a "quarterback whisperer". Sounds like a lottery ticket. Either the Giants hit Powerball or the ticket is trash.

What makes u think that the quarterbacks drafted in the first round r any better than jones. The jets used high first round picks for a franchise q b. Going back to Sanchez none of them ever panned out

Excellent pick up. Expect Waller to retire or be cut(a trade would garner 6th / 7th round attention at best with his divorce & only playing one season for the Giants & talking about retirement. I think DJ is getting moved at the deadline or at the end of the season.
I think people are sleeping on the fact Lock could be cut, he has everything to gain and nothing to lose. Rourke & DeVito have to cement themself into a place no one thinks they belong. I think Rourke & Johnson would be a swift connection both being Canadian, Rourke can do special things inside the pocket & out of structure. I could see DeVito or Rourke as leaders, Jones is not, Lock seems like a frat kid still.
I think our QB situation is a D right now. Nobody is starter caliber

Grade is a D+. Look, this draft was THE draft for QBs and regardless of what the Giants did or didn't try to do or said they tried to do...they didn't do it. Which means they 100% doubled down on Daniel Jones. Maybe Mara had his hand in it who knows. Bottom line, no viable QB yet again = 5-6 win season...imho

DJ just stands there & is afraid to throw the ball unless the WR is wide open. Other QBs at least give their guys a chance to make a play on the ball. So Lock might just be a better fit for this year.
