    Mine will arrive tomorrow for my Hunter and the thought of the clutch lever change has me on the edge a bit (being the first time I'll be doing something like this, and on my first bike ever as well), but your instructions are superb and easy to follow, so it will be fine I'm sure. Thank you, Stuart!

    In my experience with clutch cables, reducing friction helps enormously with ease of operation and "feel".
    That includes using a dual-component oil (like WD-40) that evaporates and leaves a film of heavier lubricant and anti-rust on the cable,
    using teflon-coated cables, and especially routing the cable to have as large turn radii as possible. The difference can be astonishing!

    I enjoy watching your videos Stu although I’ve no particular interest in Enfields or Triumphs.
    The satisfaction of modifying and/or fitting parts that makes one’s bike more pleasurable to ride and use is one of the great pleasures of bike ownership.

    Good video Stu. I’ve fitted similar from Hitchcock to an Interceptor and build quality was excellent. Adjustability was really good but another thumbs up was the shear point that RE don’t have in their (cast?) levers. Once dropped a bike and it could still be ridden as only the end section of the lever sheared off.

    Hi Stu, i bought the quality short black levers for my Classic 500 from Hitchcocks , and your right, the front brake is keener, which is better for me as i only have two usable fingers on my right hand and only two on my left hand, both levers work much better than the originals, should have made the change sooner, thanks for another brilliant video.

    I've fitted the black versions of the Hitchcocks adjustable levers to my Interceptor 650. The fitment procedure was very similar to your video, Stu. I think the black version fitted in nicely with the black of the parts that they went onto. However YMMV. A very useful modification.

  • @brianperry
    @brianperry Před 2 lety +2

    I believe that adjustable control levers should be standard fitting these days. We are all ergonomically different so being able to adapt the levers to ones own hand size would seem to be an obvious in factory modification.

    Merci ! Thank you, Stuart for this video. Just fitted the same following your instructions, no issue at all. These levers are far much better than the original RE. They operate smoothly and give a real good feeling of precision. And, to my personal taste, they fit well the bike. I would have been glad to have such a video for the seat springs kit instead of the vague and microscopic RE instructions. Again, Thank you very much.

    I fitted the black versions to my Classic-love them as the original levers had a little too much reach for my taste. I have also fitted a heel/toe shifter which I believe is a great addition and nicely matches the bike's easy going nature.

    I have the Chrome Red Classic 350 and my fenders, er mudguards, have the same poor finish issue. At first I thought the gold stripe was some sort of poorly applied decal. I look forward to your video to properly finish this area. As for the levers I will have a think and see if this is a mod I need to make. As a side note I was able to order the Outlander in Tobacco from trip machine. Thanks for the generous discount!

    Excellent instructions Stu, thank you. After watching, the installation on my Meteor 350 was a doddle, and the levers look fantastic. I agree with you, the front brake seems to have a bit more bite, maybe due to the ergonomics of the new lever. Anyway, this Hitchcocks' product is highly recommended👍

    Thanks to this video I'm giving a thought to replacing the stock levers on my old C5, a little worn after four years, with these (Hitchcocks has them also for the C5, of course). I agree: they give the bike a slightly less classic look, but I see there's also an all-black version which could blend in even a little better. The clutch lever adjustment bit couldn't have been explained better. It's one of those things you may take for granted, but we all know you'd better not.

    I had a set similar one's to my Interceptor from TEC bike parts but those do look different and a better quality, nice they put the brass insert where the bolts go. I must say that master cylinder piston is a bit strange that it's not inside but as long as it works.

  • @jgordoncooper7112

    I just ordered a set like these for my INT650 from Amazon. The pictures look identical to the pictures on Hitchcock's, so I hope the quality is good. The finish on the original levers is quite good, the problem is my fingers. I guess they're just short. The reach on the originals is a little too long for me. Particularly the brake lever which has almost no travel --- it's just pressure. I have adjustable levers on my dirt bike, and they make a big difference for me. I think they look great on the 350 classic. I would not recommend multicolored bar end streamers though.

    Excellent video as always. I found the quality of the cables on my classic 500 to be questionable. The throttle cable went very tight to the point where the return cable seized. I replaced it with a Hitchcocks stainless cable and have had no issues since. I did also purchase a spare clutch cable for good measure. Also will we be seeing a review of the new Goldie from you at some point?

  • @ML-cl6ob
    @ML-cl6ob Před 2 lety

    Hi Stuart, sorry, but you are wrong. The mudguards are not painted, the red and gold colour is only applicated as a adhessive film.
    And the second correction: that are no scratches at the left lever, that are cracks in the transparent paint. The Level on the brakeside is only polished and without this transparent paint, that looks much better.
    My machine has a temporarely problem with the speedo. Sometimes he shows 20kmh to much. Few times ignition on/off and he calibrate himself again.
    But nevertheless i love my Classic 350! It is a famous little bike with a big charme! 🙂

      @stuartfillingham  Před 2 lety

      No I'm Not wrong I'm a time served automotive painter, The stripe is a basic base coat and clear finish. The red is basecoat, the gold stripes are vinyl decals. The entire area is then lacquered to seal it. However it may look on the video the marks on the levers are scratches not cracks in the lacquer.

I have been watching the Royal Enfield videos and they say 9-12 mm on the left lock of handlebars and 10-20 with them straight. @@stuartfillingham agree with you on this meant to point out they measure from end of lever. Is it ok to have slack at clutch clevis end ? I loosened the lock nuts pushed clevis forward and then re tightened lock
