  • In Australia, Father’s Day falls on the first Sunday of September and is typically a time for families to gather together and celebrate. But on Father’s Day in 2005, the small Victorian town of Winchelsea was rocked by the news that a local man named Robert Farquharson had driven his three young sons - Jai, Tyler and Bailey - into a dam...

If I might suggest a case to cover, On Sept. 24, 1973, 11-year-old Amy Burridge and her 18-year- old sister, Becky Thomson, were thrown from the Fremont Canyon Bridge near Casper. Becky was raped before being thrown from the bridge. Amy died; Becky survived. Two local men, Ron Kennedy and Jerry Jenkins, were swiftly arrested. With your care and consideration I know you would do justice to this case. Thanks for all your work.

I saw Robert Farquharson when I was in jail back in 2009. I was on my way to see the prison doctor and a screw opened the electronic door for me but some other screws came through a side door and slammed the door in my face because they were escorting him to medical. He was under protection and was escorted around the jail by 3 screws. I could clearly see him through the glass but I wasn't allowed near him as I was a mainstream prisoner and he was in the protection unit. He would not have lasted long if they put him in mainstream. Someone would have put a few holes in him on his first day.

I think this is a highlight of the terrible child support and divorce problem in the world. In cases of divorce men basically lose every thing they ever built up in life, and the system unfairly favors women while telling men that they have to deal with it.
This worked back when women didn't work and men were able to support a family of 3 with a single job alone. But in a world where women and men both have to work just to keep themselves alive, trying to demand everything a man has and most of his paycheck is cruel.
Maybe if they were forced to share the house and all of their belongings after the divorce while allowing joint custody then this wouldn't be an issue

I find it a little strange that Greg’s wife has no recollection of Greg telling her what Robert had just told him that same night. Surely his wife would have remembered hearing something like that 🤔 Did guilt help her to forget? Or did Greg not tell her?
Also, Greg’s recollection a month after first going to the police about Robert is very alarming. He recalled Robert telling him he was going to kill his kids, he hated them (not sure if he meant his kids or his wife and New man Steven) and was going to drive his car into the water and drown them. Why didn’t Greg tell the police the same night Robert had told him what he was going to do to them? If find that very strange to understand.
However, it Was proven a conversation happened between Greg and Robert that night, but, I’m wondering if Greg was actually recalling what Robert had said or had he in fact just heard what had happened to them and then literally began to believe he’d heard it from Robert himself. After all, it stated that Greg was in a very bad way after the children were killed so perhaps he was so affected by it that he believed he’d been told this by Robert himself.

Never will I understand this. Who is it that thinks the person that dumped them is the only fish in the sea first of all that you would get that obsessed with wanting to get back at them. I would have zero interest in somebody who no longer wanted me for whatever the reason. Not saying I wouldn't have a grief period or whatever but what connection could he have ever actually had to his Three sons if he would be willing to hand them over so easily to death, somehow already knowing that it wouldn't bother him at all that it would only hurt her with a pain beyond all pain. It's like Chris Watts except this fine specimen of a man Robert here wanted to punish and watts didn't necessarily want to punish shannan he just wanted all of them gone.
My point is I do not understand how you can go through the motions of loving your children, all those millions of minutes you spend with them pretending to love them? I don't get it I don't believe either Watts or this guy or any other family annihilator ever spent one second feeling any grief over the children they killed. There was no loss at all for them it was just, so yeah the kids are gone so what, what the hell do I care? What is so broken inside these people, that they can spend years acting like and seeming like they love their children~then dispose of them so cruelly knowing the suffering and wants his case, watching the suffering and still continuing on with it..... Was never a moment of suffering the loss.
I guess some people's hearts are incapable of breaking, it's just the ego, the insult to the ego, the rejection. All they care about is themselves. They don't even seem to care that they are not going to get away with it

Hi, greets from Poland. Lovin’ Casefile podcast mainly due to great narration and solid content. I do have strong doubts in Robert’s guilt because evidence presented by prosecution are shaky. Greg’s testimony (in exchange for court favors) that his wife couldnt recall and Bob’s belief of missinterpretation. 200 something degree steringwheel turn. That lady’s testimony proving not sure what. Court handling of this case for example defence doctor’s statement of having 15 cases in last decade of severe cough leading to passing out overturn by presecution doctor’s statement that he never heared of such thing or another example of asking Bob if he was the only one in that car able to turn ignition key and subsequently staging his arogance by planting in his lips statment he didnt produce. Above all in regards of ignition key: i remember in my first car i was able to turn this key with my knee when lifting up my feet. If you don't feel with every fibre of your being that you want to be with a person for the rest of your life, that your relationship with them has every chance of being good for both of you, and that they'll be the kind of parent you want for your children... then don't have children with them. It really seems like the cops didnt think they had enough to successfully prosecute, and therefore fabricated some 'evidence'.
However, he belongs in jail. Even if he was telling the truth, it was very negligent homicide to continue driving after recently experiencing cough syncope, and if you are coughing hard enough to induce that you SHOULD pull over immediately, not doing so IS endangering lives. Whether it was murder or negligent homicide he does deserve punishment for killing those darling boys.

I'm going to say this. Its "convenient" that a lady remembered the car 'after' the case was overturned. Seemed like the prosecutors set that up, just like they setup Greg. Greg just filled in details after more than 1 month and more months. Its bullshit. He just happened to start writing and then remembers specific sentences that he left out. I call bullshit on alot of it. He is and may be guilty but the way they tried to get him convicted was just to add any damn thing to it. Dawn full of shit and the prosecutors told her to say that so they had another witness. They figured the first trial had a witness that got him convicted and then they couldn't use that witness so they needed a nee one. Robert getting on the stand the second time was fucking nuts. He should have shut the hell up.
Killing the kids would have made things worse for him.

What a tragic story! I do question why Cindy had 3 children with such a man if she never loved him, and if indeed he wasn't the supportive father he should have been. After the first baby, it should have been a sign what sort of dad he was. Those poor little lads..... They didn't have a chance.

I'm glad I read the comments first. I'm still disturbed from hearing about the most horrific prolonged (ie 6 years) torture of a child that I've ever heard of and am not ready for any more yet. I'll skip this episode. I hope you feel better soon :c

I guess it took her 10 yrs and 3 kids to realize the guy wasnt for her.thats typical, there's always 2 sides to every story and the mother gets to throw all the rocks.Be careful who you breed with you will be stuck with the consequences.

(My thoughts continued) Why would he killed the kids? It's a stupid motive to kills his kids to have her suffer. She still will live in the house and still be married to the other man. That doesn't help make him feel better.
He would have been looked at for the kids death and that's not going to hurt her but make him feel worse and possibly lose his freedom while she out being semi happy. That's just stupid. It doesnt make sense.
If his motive was to hurt her he had a better chance to just kill her and get custody of the kids.
