The problem is... who wants those boxes in 2019? There are way better stuff around to buy for that price.
Should i buy a box of Iconic Masters or a box of M12... hmmmm, hard decision!
At this point you are just making hype to offload the boxes on the poor patrons.
Depends, are you buying the possible cards inside or a sealed box based on rarity?
"I don't understand things" the post
@@sjdhrjrjejdhdhsh k
@Joseph Fruge You understand what a joke is right?
I'm not sure if you are smart enough to understand why he pinned you. In his last video he said do not invest in magic unless you have your house bought and some other form of passive income. How is that the act of a scam artist.
Digging this, keep doing them. I remember a lot of this, but, you know, memories fade.
Loving the "Timmy Finance 101" class at Alpha Whiteboard Investments.
Love that you pointed out that a 6 year investment netted 0%, whereas 7.5-8 years was the sweet spot. Good to think about for long term
I can't wait to buy the whole series of these on DVD for 3 easy installments of 69.99
$69.69 with a 3.69696969% coupon for the ladies
So a box of m12
Good video, I like the direction of these vids. Keep em’ up!
I really enjoy these videos looking forward to the next one! I also like the break down and experience/stories you have in regards to Magic and investing in general.
You should call these "White Boarder talks"
back in the days coresets were whiteboarderd, now they are all black
@@greencrypto4958 uh... yes I know... thank you.
Excellent educational content Rudy. I really like how you picture this "Study cases" so they can be extrapolated to other areas of economy analysis!! Nice job. Giggity
Nice style with the whiteboard. Teacher Rudy is here @ Timmy's University
Nice video Rudy! Looking forward to the "bad times" stories as well, to see what lessons they highlight (or if it's simply a gamble, and 8 out of 10 products appreciate over an 8 year timeframe).
i know u said these videos dont get the views but i enjoyed this i do hope you will continue to make these.
Love the video and just Subscribed..... keep rolling these out...
Best video series yet. Rudy for Proff 2020!!!
Love it Rudy! I'm learning a lot from these videos. Please keep them coming!
A+mazing love these videos from Rudy and the comparison ones about like the different cardstocks and print runs! I love learning anything about vintage WOTC 😉
Appreciate the historical context / finance videos, Rudy. Keep 'em coming! Funnily enough, I picked up some M12 fat packs recently. For fun, not finance😉
Love you Rudy you're the best channel on youtube hands down!
Ruby GAAP accounting lesson here
Very nice Rudy and complete - fees. 10$ gain annual per box on average, I try to kick and break it but the analysis is solid like a rock!
I'm surprised you didn't point out that M12 boxes (which contain lots of check lands) started going up immediately after Standard printed the check lands.
I have no clue how many check lands you would likely get in a box of M12, but the value of those lands went from $1.50 & $3, to $4 & $7.
Phantasmal Image went from $18 in the same time.
Appreciate the breakdown Rudy! Very interesting!
Are we going to get one of these for fallen empires?
And Homelands too!
These are awesome and super informative. Keep them coming!
I love these videos! Very educative :p
I went to the EMP museum in Seattle during spring break of 2013 and they had a promotion going on there where there were multiple booths setup throughout the museum and they were giving away FREE core 2012 packs doing some MTG promotion! Needless to say, I went to each and every stand and asked for packs and was usually handed 3 to 4 at each stand, and ended up with over 60 packs split between myself and my 2 brothers. With my cargo shorts loaded up, my brothers and I got back to our hotel room and opened them all, and it was a very memorable time. Not sure if wotc has done anything like this before or since, but core 2012 will always be special to me. Felt like Scrooge Mcduck rolling around in those free packs haha
I would absolutly take Rudys class on finance at Timys comunity college
First time first! Love these Videos!
Rudy, you should make your Y axis as high as your highest data point, so the trends are easier to visualize. Also make the circles smaller. Cheers.
After Zendikar, Phyrexia, M10 and M11 I dumped sooo much $$$$ in M12. I don't regret it, but it sure didn't pay off like those other sets. Lol
Thanks for this, very great watch.
Love these white board videos. So stoked to hear your planning on doing it for a bit.
PLEASE KEEP THIS ON A WEEKLY BASIS!!!!
Timmy here, I know nothing about, nor really have any interest in Magic the Gathering, but I still watch and enjoy your videos
sublime, bravo!!
Rudy: "Do we got Ultimate Masters?" *pulls up Iconic* "Ultimate Masters." 12:47
Regardless, love this content, I don't ever really comment on videos so, take that for what you will. Do what makes you happy and we'll all gladly join you for the ride.
Do more of these Rudy!
This is why I love you Rudy🤗
When Rudy is wearing his visors you know it’s serious 🤷♂️
i like this series. maybe going over the top 2-3 rares at release, that way people know what cards drove the set. then at then end of the video, tell us what they are doing now ;)
You should also factor in inflation (on the value of cash) say 2% off every year.
Too much extra math for too little gain. It is very important, but when you’re dealing with numbers that beat the annual inflation rates you tend to come out on top regardless.
Love these videos.
Another untold story of coreset 2012: it was the first set that had at least 3.6969% women.
I wish Rudy would do a review of each set through the years.
Rudy is an absolute master of sounding insightful while stating the obvious. A core set's price stays flat while it's in standard and most of that time in print? "Very calm releasing product."
Very cool video, Rudytube, very cool.
this is every set in yugioh. also thank you rudy. trying to open a store, got lots of material to study lol
enjoyed this, thanks
Professor Rudy!
Also Rudy FYI I'm bingeing these history videos
im one of the very few who loved coresets. they were my fave set to draft because they all had the same staples and plainswalkers
Love these videos
Professor Rudy's Investment Academy
Some people might not understand you but I'm picking up what your putting down Hairy Arm guy
Make this weekly!!
commander's arsenal is 7 years old and the price hasn't changed in 6... why is that?
I think 2012 went up because 2019 and 2020 didn’t reprint old core set typical cards. People realized new core sets from wozzy are a different beast now and if you want the 2012 cards you need the old boxes
I just realised Rudy is Florida Man.
I'd be interested in some origins.
Oh yeah a nice 27min rudy vid on a friday :P
Hey Rudy, when things don't go up in value, could you try to make the plot points/line more straight? They tend to angle up.
Just preordered commander 2019, did I pull a Timmy move? I know 2017 went up by 200% per case.
If you have the patience to sit on it, it will go up. That is how the collectible market goes. Rudy is saying that you may have to invest for a fairly long duration before that money pays off for certain sets but regardless, if something is out of print, the value will only go up as the years go by.
"Welcome to the world of corsets." --Rudy (O_o)
This uptick i probably due to the new pauper rules changes and so many new cards being added to the format.
I buy collectables (not magic cards, although I'm interested in getting some PSA cards) because I enjoy collecting, looking at, and displaying them, and occasionally I'll sell one if the profit is too good to resist, but I collect because it's a fun hobby, and the financial side isn't really a concern. Sealed product is different though since you aren't getting to actually enjoy the product, and it's all about the profit.
I do love these whiteboard episodes and hope you keep doing them. Lets me use parts of my brain I don't normally use. That mathematics and economics degrees... lol
YES! MORE LIKE THIS! Anyone can do stupid box openings. Only YOU, RUDY, can provide this kind of insight! THIS is why I'm a patron!
Professor Rudy is in da class.
what the, getting in here early!
I love these whiteboard videos!
This is the one set I remember when I started to collect more magic cards I kept buying into not because it was good or anything. It was because this set reprinted all the Titans which was crazy!
I always have a soft spot for the Titans because in 2011 they were deemed super strong and in 2012 they were reprinted which yes it was a mistake on Wizards because anytime a 6 mana monster that wins the game is too strong.
Nobody Gives A Shit,You Imposter.
26:36 I was hoping you were gonna say it!
I live these vids! Thank you Rudy for always giving us content everyday, I appreciate it
In your other investment video you said expect to invest 600k each year. What's the overhead of storing pallets of boxes?
Forget Tolarian Community College, we have Timmy Community College now!
Pink visor is a beautiful thing
i remember when thay said no more core sets i quit buying cards till ixlan
White Board POWER RUBY - NICE.
dig these videos doing some of my own investing, not on the scale like you...
Just keep at it man!
Thank you again for the white board discussion.
So are you saying dragon's maze is going to dry out eventually ?
I say this all the damn time.
I dont play magic, I dont collect magic. I dont know damn diddle about magic.
But its just fun to listen to Rudy talk man. Yeah man- you tell me bout them cards.
Return of core sets may have also been a catalyst here.
Love it
Going all the way back
I invested in one sealed Box of 2020, is this a good investment?
I still think Core Sets are garbage fire, all them do worse than the regular sets from the same time period (maybe except Dragons Maze).
Nobody likes Core Sets, there is no demand, they are designed to beginners but beginners don't buy Boxes from 8 years ago, who the hell is buying them and why, I don't get it.
one box is a great investment, because you can only lose what you invested. That's why small investments are the best. It's not about how much you can make, but about how much you can lose.
@@nycmirage wait what? Well if so that makes no investment the best investment
@@sempre8135 aha!
Green Crypto really any booster box is a good investment. You may not make a killing but every box will appreciate over time.
Anyone here in 2021? I miss videos like these.
I really enjoy the one-take video style but honestly this type of series would really benefit from a really scripted style
Reading some comments it seems that some people really hate you man...
But I found what you do great and an amazing transparent work. Anyway, do you know how many/who are others investors like you?
Only him, it’s just a cabal of Creepy Rugbies. Also 99% of people hating him are either really emotional and got burned on an investment, or see Magic investors as the ones killing the hobby. Even though they only exist because the hobby is flourishing to some degree.
Rudy, I just read a story earlier of an NWC cart sold to a store and there was "a persistent caller from Florida." Can you verify if it was you?
2022 Rudy sent me here.
17:14 this part was pretty funny! 🤣
im so glad you could apply those treading knowledge to actual product we love thank you so much
What about adjusting for inflation? Wouldn't that just explain the gain? I mean real inflation, not the government issued stat.
You make out 5% annually assuming 2% inflation.
so at what point does rudy sell's at one point you need return on one investment
Let's get it
What made "core sets" different from 4th, 5th, etc. Editions?
I wasn't playing during the switch from editions to cores.
Apart from the modern border, now core sets can have new cards along with all the reprints
Also marketing
Legendary aye.
BUT THE LEGEND OF THE RENT WAS WAY HARDCORE!
Nothing about Arena possibly bringing up the value of older boxes?
Thats negligible, to be honest. It might drive the singles market up a bit as people translate arena decks to paper decks.
Mephiston And it might increase vintage prices by some amount, but that’s negligible too.
I wish my math class was this interesting
