correction, economics is a social science about scarcity and systems on how to allocate your resources to satisfy demand. This stuff is more banking and finance so you should choose an commerce degree. Accounting covers the tax implications of these transactions.

I sometimes worry about the general market population either fading out and/or losing interest causing long-term downsizing.
Seems irrational given how established the market is, but I wouldn’t know how to argue otherwise.

Inflation =/= increasing asset prices, unless we are talking about assets that are essentials such as housing, land, cars, etc. Many assets depreciate with inflation because as prices of essentials go up, they need to leverage whatever assets they are holding to pay for them. When Tom and Sally are looking to purchase that new home, and need 80 grand for a down payment instead of 40, Tom is going to cash in his Magic cards, gold, etc. to pay the difference. This puts downward pressure on the price of these assets despite overall rising prices because of the law of supply and demand. The same principles applies to gas, travel and vacations, food, etc. Another factor to consider is that as inflation goes up, the fed will increase interest rates, which leads to people moving out of volatile assets like crypto, collectibles, gold, etc. and into safe assets like bonds and CDs who are offering higher returns.
Its different for stocks of course, as they have fundamentals behind them, and inflation is typically good for business. Stocks will likely keep moving upward unless there is an inflationary shock that causes a recession or a financial crisis.

So if I buy a booster Box of magic today I figure the boxes are gonna hit there peak 15 to 20 years later, when the 12 year olds that played it today are now grown up and wanna relive their childhood and have the money to do so. It's a long term investment rally

You are tottaly right about the right timeline: Imagine everything we collect in 50 years will be worth nothing just because people forget that a game of magic existed or people somehow die out. Of course magic will most surtenaly live "for ever" but at some other aspects like soccer card collecting in 50 years noone will for example know who Ronaldo was just because that people that lived in the era simply die out. So at some point we have to sell earlier before the price hits a alltime high and then stays same and eventuelly falls again because the demand isnt that big like we expected. My timepline is to invest for the next 20 years then sell it.
The gamblers fallacy is the erroneous thought that if a if something happens several times in a row, then the opposite will happen soon. For example if a person flips a coin and 10 consecutive flips come up heads, the person thinks that tails have to come up soon and bets accordingly. The coin can turn up heads 100 more times or it can hit tails the next flip. The odds are not cumulative, they reset after every flip. So there is an equal chance of heads or tails every flip, no matter how many times one or the other hits consecutively.
Ruby loves to use buzz words and phrases but he rarely uses them consecutively. Think about that when you think that Ruby actually knows what he is talking about.

That's the one thing that so many people fail to learn- you cannot time the market. You might get lucky once in a while, but overall you're going to burn yourself out stressing over making 5% on something that if you just left alone could easily double in value in the long term.
