    I've got to say it, but I really love your Bad Gear series, but I also love the fact you're doing stuff like this - revisiting and going over some other foibles or points in order to use this stuff now. I loved being reminded of some of those expensive DX7 programmers. I'll never get one, but I loved seeing them as I'd completely forgotten them. I'll stick to having a stiff drink and a slap about the face before I delve into programming the DX7 through the one slider.
    So please keep up with stufff like this. It's not only entertaining, but it shows actual usage of this neglected equipment, and that's no bad thing.

    Buying a Korg MS200B was the best thing to do as a Korg owner. Most of the knobs on the MS2000 have the same CC assigns as other Korgs of the same age (and I suspect the microkorg). So I use it to control a Trinity V3 which is somewhat lacking in knobs, but has the Prophecy board. It allows you to have a full knob prophecy and the trinity thrown in.

    After spending a good 16+ hours trying to get my Roland A-500 Pro midi controller to work, I had to give up.
    Then I spent several hours online looking for an Evolution UC33 with no luck. Finally I went on facebook to ask my friends list.
    Apparently one of my good mates in Paris has one he will sell me. FTW!!!!
    Needless to say I am super exited. My MK is already my favorite synth. But the thought of being able to control all the parameters i want real time without menu diving is amazing.

    Another great MIDI piece of software that sadly is no longer available and discontinued was Emagic's 'Soundiver'... It basically used to dive into any hardware that was built in the 80's and 90's and pretty much bring out all controls via a nice GUI so you could control your MIDI gear via software.... And now for some praise - Your channel is awesome - Keep finding that 'Bad Gear'... Another hardware suggestion for bad gear ... The EMU-Proteus2000 - I have one - I love it and hate it at the same time....PCM sounds but a small screen to edit with... unless you have the Prodetum Software that is available for free... Do at least 2 or more baths with refreshed new isoprop to get rid of the nicotine-acid first .You will need a shallow plastic form the device fits in to not waste too much of the ISOprop. ISOpropanol or isopropyl-alcohol rests will vanish like steam and leave nothing behind in contrast to ethanol/methanol (like spiritus)or alcoholic cleansers with their extra ingredients. Isopropylalcohol is also used for washing electronic PCBs and is save for the electronic inside the device, as long as you let it dry thoroughly, which will happen very quickly at room temperature.After having done so , give the plastic case a little bit of silicon spray greasing to "relubricate" its surface.The odour will be gone, as the ISOprop will have done its job.

    So I have this exact same set up (except I have the XL+) and for some reason I’m having trouble getting it to work and was wondering if it was something simple you could point out.
    This is what I understand is the process: plug midi cable into the UC-33’s midi out and run it to the Microkorg’s midi in. Make sure both are set to same midi channel (I set them both to 1), press “select” and move fader/knob so it selects it, then press “assign” and punch in the cc# (I chose 74 for the cut off like it appears you did in the vid). I’ve tried this process several times with a multitude of other random experiments to no avail.
    Anyways, thanks for the vid (and all the others too). I actually ended up buying the UC33 after watching this as after some research it appeared to be the best option!

    I have a problem with controlling the microkorg. I use microkontrol to control the microkorg because the microkontrol has a lot of knobs and sliders but the midi values are jumping around because when you move something in the controller (encoders and sliders) no matter what the existing value is of a parameter in the microkorg it will jump to the current value of the midi. I don't think I've explained that clearly. I think the terms for that thing I want to achieve are "Soft Takeover" and "Catch Mode". Soft Takeover or catch mode is when you move something on the controller there will be no change on the parameter of the synth until it matches the current value of the parameter of the synthesizer you are controlling. Do you have a solution for this? Is using both the midi out and the midi in of the microkorg and the controller make a difference? Will it suddenly activate catch mode? Because I don't see these terms on the manuals of both. I'm sorry this is too long but I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

    I was looking for a tutorial on how to do this and I didn't expect Bad Gear to have one! Thanks!! Btw, do you know if I can assign parameters to the 1-5 knobs on the MK? Say, instead of knob 5 controlling tempo changing to the LFO rate?

    Hi, great video!
    im having trouble with syncing the microkorg to a roland tr 8s, here's my problem:
    The roland i use as master (midi out) to the korg (midi in/slave), so that the arpegiator of the korg follows the tempo of the roland.
    Everything is pretty perfect so far except although the arpegiator tempo is correct, half of the time it starts and stays off beat.
    How do i get the arpegiator to run perfectly on the beat, what am I doing wrong? Or is the microkorg simply "inaccurate" by design?
    Ps i tried matching midi channels but that makes the arpegiator glitch by playing notes i'm not even touching, so even worse.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx!

    • @AudioPilz
      @AudioPilz  Před rokem

      AFAIK the MK arp starts at keypress. I assume you have to play as tight as possible (haven't tried it in a while tho)

    • @mzunguofficial
      @mzunguofficial Před rokem

      @@AudioPilzno it will start on beat sometimes even if i press too soon and vice versa, if i hit perfectly on time it will still have latency sometimes :(
