    Simplicity is the highest form of sophistication. The Mazda design language comes close to that principle.

      Every Mazda model looks almost identical from the front especially. The Kodo design is old now plus it looks too plain compared with other manufacturers more bolder and stylish looking SUV's. But it's a better vehicle than the Rogue for obvious reasons.

    I agree with your evaluation. I just bought my wife the 2021 Mazda CX-5 Signature in red as her Christmas gift. My wife loves to drive it. We also like the high class interior and acceleration of the turbo engine. The self locking mode and stowing of the mirrors as you walk away from the vehicle is really nice. Thanks again for the excellent video.

      also the cvt transmission is horrible on the nissan and prone to premature failure moreso than any other transmission a 5-6k fix btw./the nissan rougue is 3 inches longer than the mazda and the same width and has 3 extra feet of cubic space thats about half a luggage more you can carry in the nissan than the mazda its really not that big of a differnce in cargo space
      mazdas look smallerr due to having lower ground clearance and being sporty and lower to the ground.
      if you want more space and whatnot go with the new RAV4 a solid car no crappy cvt transmission and it has 8 extra cubic feet of cargo than the mazda.

  • @paulcu130
    @paulcu130 Před 3 lety +21

    I own a CX 5 and I can tell you it is amazing. My only complaints are (and these are minor to me): first rear seat leg room. The Mazda is 179.1 inches and I think this car would be perfect at 183 inches and make that extra length as space in the rear seat. Now it's still not bad , but I just feel an extra little room back there would have been great. second, seats are a little bit firm. Could have made the seats a little bit softer. However after about 5000 km's the seats soften a little and are good. For greats seats, the Acura RDX is awesome. A panorama sun roof would be nice but not a big deal too me. And finally it would have been nice if the center console arm rest could slide about an inch or 2 forward. It feels a little short. All of these issues are very, very minor and not is a deal breaker for me. Some of the pro's of this car are the drive. Power, handling and over all feel. Test drive any car in this class then drive the Mazda and feel the difference. That's what sold me instantly. In a class by its self. Interior quality. Should be compared to the luxury brands like Acura, Lexus, infinity and Audi. I don't think it's quite at that level, but closer positioned there than in the main stream line. Finally is the exterior styling. Keep in mine this style came out in 2017 and it is still crushing every car in it's class like the newly redesigned Nissan Rogue. If you are interested in this car class, do what I did, test drive all the mainstream brands and save the CX 5 for last. You will love it.

    • @GoofieNewfie
      @GoofieNewfie Před 3 lety +1

      we have a 2020 cx5 too and I'll echo your complaints. But the seat issue is not a minor complaint, they are hard and uncomfortable. Destroy my back in 30 mins. The cx5 is also just too small, honestly it is no larger than our old hrv inside. Next, the oem remote start is awful. Next the heated steering wheel is not heated on top or bottom. I also find the steering fake, it is a heavy for the sake of pretending to be sporty while not actually giving back much feedback. I have had the luxury brands, Mazda does not compete. It also needs a complete makeover as it has been around too long and that transmission is missing 2 gears and a few mpg

    • @paulcu130
      @paulcu130 Před 3 lety +2

      @@GoofieNewfie I do agree with a lot of what you are saying. The seats are not the most comfortable and I could certainly see how it would be more uncomfortable for some people but not has uncomfortable for others. Like I said other brands have better seats. The rear seat is certainly tight compared to others, but to help with this they did make room under the front seat for your feet where others are tight under the seat. Both of these things are an issue and for people that bought this car for a family I think they will be disappointed. In both of these cases I hope Mazda looks at this when they do a redesign. I recently sat in a Lexus NX 300. The seats are more comfortable, but the rear seats were also bad and certainly not a family car.
      For driving feel I am very happy with it. Some people don't like the steering feel, but I like it. I never drove the Acura RDX, however I have heard it was much better for a sporty feel. However I also heard this car has a lot of issues with the transmission and electronics. For me the Acura is a good size not too small with more room and more comfortable seats. However the price and and the potential issues above kept me from this car.
      I came from a 2011 Honda Accord and this car was much better in the areas I've mentioned, but not so great for power. Very bad for passing on the highway and the interior wasn't upscale . I was looking for compact SUV this time and for what I needed this car was the best in the class for me. However, If I required more space I would have gotten the CR V.
      Over all I am happy with the car , but it is certainly not perfect.

    I've been driving a 2014 Mazda 6 for 5 years and just in time for an upgrade. My obvious choice was the CX-5 but my biggest issue with Mazda is comfort. I can't drive more than an hour without feeling numb or back pain in the Mazda. I thought maybe if I go for the Signature trim on the CX-5 with the nappa leather, things will be different. Full disclosure - I bought a 2021 Rogue that I'll be picking up on Wednesday. That being said, I suspect that Nissan has to "limit" how far it can go with this brand so as not to upstage their Infitini line, while Mazda can go full out as they do not have a premium brand to protect. Both vehicles are nice, however those opting for the Mazda may regret not having a modern suite of driving aids in their cars, especially at resale time, while those who own a Rogue, more so with young owners, may miss out on the additional horsepower. Finally, there are no bad vehicles, just buy one that hits your right buttons. Cheers!

    Good review , I lease a 2016 Rogue SL, and it's had absolutely no issues. There were a couple of things that I found missing - the Altima I owned previously came with a garage door feature in the rear view mirror which was very handy. The Rogue SL model comes with an ordinary steel side exhaust outlet, and not chrome tipped pipes at the back. The air filter is obviously designed to discourage DIY air filter changes, and the tranny doesn't come with a dipstick. The panoramic roof doesn't come with an alarm that lets you know its open when you lock up (its very easy to park the car with the roof open, and this would be catastrophic with leather seats and a heavy rainfall). And lastly, why don't these car companies incorporate digital recording thru their cameras ? Otherwise I have to install another camera to record negligent driver behaviour. I think the Mazda will appeal to older drivers who look for longevity and classic lines, the Nissan will appeal to younger drivers who are looking for dash and splash, but don't think about 5 years down the road when the CVT craps out. Anyways, my current Rogue kinda looks like the Mazda, and I don't like the look of the new Nissan (reminds me bit of the Juke). Thats my 5 cents worth.

The failure rate is just far too high. It's not like it's a sensor or a relay issue it's a $6000.00+ potential problem that any NIssan owner should be aware of. Mazda CX5 is great at the engine, fuel consumption and driving pleasure.
    Nissan Rogue is always more comfort, more balance among driving pleasure, engine and comfort.
    The only thing Nissan can not use a more powerful engine is that because of the CVT Transmission. CVT Tends to damage early when Strong engine is working with it. CVT may not get too much pressure power from engine, it will slip then broken.
