    Tin foil trick was cool , is that how immobilizer works it needs some signal from key like magnetic field sort of thing?

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes. There is an antenna around the ignition switch barrel which when energised sends a magnetic field which allows the key to then send a signal back in. By covering the key I stopped the chip in the key seeing the signal from the antenna creating an immobiliser fault. Just to see if the immobiliser system was working. It’s a fast way of checking 🙂👍

    So they removed EGR to replace glow plugs and reassembled EGR out of alignment?
    Didn't take you long to suss that one out, great work as usual 👍

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  Před 2 lety +2

      They took the motor off the top of the EGR valve & refitted it back wrongly which bend the valve itself ( I believe ) Or the valve itself was seized prior slightly open & coincidently stuck fully open after fitting glow plugs.
      I think the first is most likely 🤔😉

    My car is struggling to start, however when starting it makes a really clunky noise and stalls. When driving the car doesn’t go over 2000rpms before stalling. What could this be?
    The noise is coming from the bell housing, I suspected it’s a torque converter

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The cam/crank synchronised should turn to ‘yes’. If they it doesn’t it could mean your timing is off or it could be just missing either the camshaft or crankshaft signal. If so it couldn’t tell if they are synchronised or not.
      Disconnect the camshaft sensor and then look for engine RPM on your scantool. It will fast test the crankshaft sensor & circuit. Let me know what you find 👍👍

    Hi I have a 2008 ranger ok it does the same thing but if I keep winding over the starter motor until it starts it will run and then when I turn it off sometimes it won’t wind over the dash light up but no start then if I go back after awhile it will wind over again when it first started playing up you would be driving along and the taco would jump and the car would cough and jurk and a light with a car and a key in it would come on took it to a ford dealership and they have no idea what the problem is any idea’s what it might be

      Hi Toby, you have explained your issue very well but unfortunately I could lead you down the wrong track without actually seeing the vehicle.
      I could say I might be an immobiliser fault but once the immobiliser is disarmed after first start,it then doesn’t be used once running so wouldn’t effect it while driving.
      I could say starter motor, which I have seen to draw too many amps & inhibit starting.
      And then sounds funny that the dealer doesn’t know, is it possible to get fault code scan ???
