    Great video. Both my wife and I have been blessed to hunt bighorn in Idaho. Truly a hunt of a lifetime. What a great experience to see where they live and watch a big ram crash heads. Awesome....

    I worked for a year in Granby, Co and driving up over the pass I saw plenty of the herd that hangs around Empire. Amazing critters, they are!

    I used to work in Granby, Colorado which meant I drove the road past Empire, CO up and over Berthoud Pass four times a month. In the year plus I spent working up there I saw more bighorn sheep near Empire than I have or will see again. It's spectacular!

    Great hunt. I camped and hunted sheep with my 13 year old daughter in the exact same place you first went to. She got her ewe sheep and I don't know who was happier. It's great hunting with your kid, especially when they love hunting just as much as you do.

    "When you're least prepared is when the opportunity will present itself" I couldn't of said it better. Yesterday I missed a chance on an old 8 with a ton of mass because it was a half hour later than the camera had him on it the week before so I started packing up. I had just lowered my bow down when he came down a trail 4 yards in front of my stand. There was still plenty of light to see my sights.

    Yeah, another great sheep hunt you were in on. I worked near there years ago in 1968 but got to do no hunting. I think Colo is probably the most beautiful of all the states although I have never seen the eastern hardwoods in the fall. I'll be leaving for Arizona for winter deer, javalina and quail in a week. I really enjoy your videos Randy, keep up the fabulous work.

      Yes 9 points is much lower than the average for such a coveted hunt and species, even as a resident. You would know in the case of being a max point holder for moose in Montana. You have accompanied good people on some awesome sheep hunts, I am glad that you finally got to go on your own in Alaska a couple years ago.

    Did he have any issues with a blued barrel in that kind of weather? Was he doing any daily maintenance while up there? I am getting a Howa 1500 Gameking but can't find an all weather barrel in my budget. Am I going to run into issues not having a stainless or cerakote barrel?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  Před 6 lety

      Take care of it properly and you should be fine. I have many of them with a blued barrel. I use a light oil rag when I know it might be bad weather. When I come in from bad weather, I immediately wipe it down with light oiled rag and also make sure it dries as fast as possible.

      Read the regs for moose sheep and goat. Orange is not required for those species. You might want to read the regs before making accusations. I take the law very seriously and no, I'm not above the law.
