Hello Dr Neil! I'm done with my steps but I just wanted to drop a comment and let you know that your biostat and psych videos were amazingly helpful for me. I'm a non-US IMG and we never really studied biostats the way they get tested in the USMLE's, but your way of explaining the concept behind the numbers really resonated with me and even your manner of teaching is something I really appreciated. I'm sure there are many other IMG's like me out there who might come across your content and see what a goldmine it is. Thank you for all that you've done!
@@RandyNeilMD I’m also an IMG studying for step 1 and I’m so glad I found your videos! I was very pessimistic with biostats but now I’m confident that I will handle this questions when test day comes
Absolutely one of the top HY stuff for USMLE. Thank you Dr.Neil for always nailing these concepts. Jus a tip for anyone who's struggling to remember OR vs RR. I remembered it as in Relative risk formula, there are more numbers(we all have so many relatives) A/A+B/ C/C+D compared to OR in which A/B/C/D. Hope someone finds this useful..
Best teacher for learning the biostatistics. I was struggling with learning biostatistics for my USMLE exams and then I found Dr Neil videos and i was able to learn what biostatistics is. Now I have USMLE step3 exam and I’m watching his all videos again because it really helps. Thank you Dr Neil
Thankyou so much. Have always struggled through biostatistics, seems doable after watching your videos. You're a blessing. Thankful for that person on Reddit !!
First of all, thank you Dr. Neil for his amazing videos. The way I keep that in mind is cOhOrt has 2 O's as Dr. Neil told and RR (relative risk has 2 R's too). Hope it works for you too.
Thank you for taking the time to simplify things for us. I suck at biostats but I'm seeing improvements from studying your videos. Please keep them coming if you're not too busy with your own work/life balance. thanks, again.
Thank you so much Doctor Neil, I really love this video, I think I can handle everything about Cohorts and Case Controls from now, I really appreciate it! ... but in the last two examples with Relative Risk, is not doing the division backwards in both of them? my results are 3 for the first one and 0.33 for the last last one. Sorry but really put me out of mind for a minute!
Hlo Dr neil You are doing wonderful job Thanks for teaching us everything we need to know I think in this question there is an error ( i can be wrong ) When you are calculating relative risk e.g in no children , a=50 , b=200 , c=1450 , and d = 1800 . And in RR with children a=200 b=50 c=1800 d=1450 . I can be wrong kindly correct me but if not kindly correct it in the video
These videos are gold. I have a question sir. There are questions where it’s required to differentiate between Sensitivity/Specificity vs PPV or NPV. The latter depends on prevalence and the former doesn’t. So how to make it out from the question? Step 3 exam in a couple of days…any help will be appreciated. TIA.
Thank you for this helpful review! And is that a snippet of Okaloosa Island at the end of the video?! I used to live in Destin, and I recognize those white sandy dunes from anywhere!

Thank you doc
Odds ratio = "one number over one number"
Relative risk = "one number over two"
You got it... :)
@@RandyNeilMD Back again for step 2

Exam 15 days away.
Though I did well on these Qs but I think I am stuck 🥺
STAY CONFIDENT.
If we use ad/bc formula for odds ration do u think our answer will be different?
Can you please make a video on forest plot?
Making me work?
Yes please, why not😭
Do you get a calculator during the exam or you just estimate?
Yes... I'd use it.
Thank you
