“Case control” start with “case”, that means we study the already diagnosed cases backwardly for risk factors; That’s how I remember the backward direction.
Love the video! Definitely helpful. I only changed thing because I may forget which direction to turn the eyes or the A. It also sticks to the usage of vowels mnemonic. So for "cAse-control" you need to look "bAckwards" and for "cOhort" you need to look "fOrward". Enjoy and Goodluck everyone!
Great tip thanks! To add to that, I noticed the second last letter in CohoRt is R for Relative risk and the second last letter in Case ContrOl is O for Odds ratio!
I really liked your memory tool
@@silvergray5981 @koticinyomouf YOU TWO ARE AMAZING! Thank you!!
Thx for ur idea 😍😍amazing!
How to remember which way the eyes turn: in cAse cOntrOl, the eyes (O's) turn to look at the A, which is backwards/restrospective. and in cohort they look the opposite way, or prospective
case cOntrOl also has two O's too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I just facepalmed myself on that cohort mnemonic
The word thanks cannot be enough!
absolutely love this video , I have been trying to learn this for the past two years , but now remember it in seconds
How to differentiate between case cx and prospective cohort?
Dirty usmle you r awesome man please make all the Biostatistics videos that are high yield for USMLE STEP 1..THANKS IN ADVANCE
Is there a part 2??
Hey Can you make a video on the bilirubin pathologies? Dubin, Gilberts, Rotor, etc? It would be awesome!
probably will never forget, beautifully explained
fOrward=cOhort;bAckwards=cAse control
I don't understand somethings. Is the only difference between a cohort and a case-control study that they are prospective and retrospective, respectively, or is there some other way to distinguish between the two. Also, why do we use Risk ratio with the former and odds ratio with the other?
best video on youtube. idc. YOU SAVED ME THANK YOU!
According to me, it is the best explanation!
where can i get rest videos on biostat pl?

Great job thanks.
Thank you very much.
Mind blowing 🙂
Perfectly explained
amazing.....
But how will we differentiate between a case control retrospective and cohort retrospective 😥
I think you mean case control and cohort retrospective? You're still looking at relative risk, just that it happened in the past.
Soooooo grateful for this video! #subscribing
I found this helpful. 🙏
Alright I have to admit, this is a good one.
I love you man lol thank you for making it clearer and simpler !!

How can international students apply USMLE??
So fuckin dope as fuck...Thanks man
Case control vs retrospective cohort ????🙄
just skip to 4:50
What if we rotate the A in clockwise 90° 😂😂
I'm an IMG from india and plan on taking the exam in December 2016.Are you sure that retrospective cohort study are not tested on the step 1??..I'm really confused with retrospective cohort and case-control study!!..please do let me know
Pratiksha Same here :(
@Esther23 daisy :I'd suggest that you try & watch the videos on a Channel by Randy Neil, MD
It sure helped me out!😃
Pratiksha Thank u so much :)
Per our student polls, it shows up less than 4% of the time. If you are pressed for time, it's simply not worth the brain space. If you have time, then sure learn it
Pratiksha how did u apply for it can u suggest nything about applying to USMLE procedure?
nailed it
NIIIICE!!!!!
Nxt part plzz

cya in a couple years
This weird closed caption
Mr Dirty Medicine , are you single?
I love you
hey dirty med hope you are doing good.
CASE CONTROL STUDY ARE RESTROSPECTIVE STUDY WHILE COHERT ARE PROSECTIVE STUDY
Well, cohorts can also be Retrospective, so don’t get caught slipping
Case control studies can be both retrospective and prospective actually
Isn't it that Cohort study can be both whilst case control study can only be retrospective since we have the condition of interest...?
The fact that everything even remotely math-related has to be taught in medicine at such a baby-level is a sobering testimony that doctors are not exactly the brightest bunch out there.
you must not be a doctor if you have the ability to generalize like this. There is an abundance of medically applicable information to retain, so sometimes its nice to have an easy to follow video regarding small details in biostats.
@@StinaDeL Yes, I do have the ability to generalise. Don't you? And yes, I am a doctor despite you not letting me be one.
@@lm58142 A doctorate in brainlessness doesn't count Luba.
@@MrLegendra thanks for the first-hand info.
Omg this helped me so much with my epidemiology grad course 🫶
