I wasn't sure I could watch this vid of the fur kids being left behind for 5 months, but then I remembered the time I flew home to Aus for my Dad for 6 months, to help look after him thru his cancer. I left my dog and cat/business/ home for 6 months with friends. And it was certainly worth it. they'll be fine, and it will be a great reunion in 5 months time.

Literally, there are too many people who live off of their feelings. Feelings are a good thing. They are healthy, but when you live off of them and let your feelings dictate your life, You need to reevaluate and hopefully come to the realization that people and or animals truly don't care about your feelings. That's life.

Great channel! I've done this passage to New Zealand 16 times, a couple of times from Tonga mostly from Fiji and Vanuatu but I've never stopped at McNervous reef! It's an appropriate name for Minerva reef, as this passage can be the most challenging for people crossing the Pacific and folks will stop there fretting the notorious open ocean passage to come. Sometimes better to just tackle it in one go! on a slowish boat one Gale is almost guaranteed!

Colin you are doing it in the middle of the offical Cyclone season, which runs from September to May every year, most people clear the Islands by the end of September for this reason.
I hope both Lindo and Mcfly have the best time on Tonga. It is sad that they couldn't stay with you. It sucks that certain breeds have a bad reputation. I've been around pitties my whole life, giving them love, and they will give it back 10 fold. Have a blast at Minerva Reef, and safe sailing past Fiji and the cyclone you've mentioned. Those storms are no joke. I experienced one as a kid visiting family in Navua, and Suva.

Colin I know it’s tough leaving the pups and some people may think we shouldn’t be so emotional about our dogs. To them, I feel sorry because they don’t know the joy of unconditional love. At least you’ll be back in 6 mos and you’ll have a great reunion.
Colin if you have to leave your pups, which I think is total BS, at least you found a loving family that you can be comfortable with and so can they. That’s a really good thing. The weather is really no joke in these parts!
@ParlayRevival I can only imagine what the sea state would be like. Only experienced it cyclone on land, and that was an that was scary as hell.
I have two pit bulls and they are the most loving and affectionate babies I’ve ever had. My Beagle is louder and more aggressive.

Sorry you had to endure comments questioning your approach re: dogs etc.. I appreciate that you are sharing your story with us via YT. I would never be presumptuous to believe I could offer anything other than appreciation for your efforts and genuine view on the world. Keep up the good work and shed off those negative comments.
Colin I know it’s tough leaving the pups and some people may think we shouldn’t be so emotional about our dogs. To them, I feel sorry because they don’t know the joy of unconditional love. At least you’ll be back in 6 mos and you’ll have a great reunion.

Colin if you have to leave your pups, which I think is total BS, at least you found a loving family that you can be comfortable with and so can they. That’s a really good thing. So cool to have your mates with you to ride her home. Minerva looks incredible Looking forward to the next leg.
