I LOVED the solution you came up with for the balcony bottom on the spire. I liked the idea when you first started it but I didn't like the idea of just a flat bottom, but you came back with the arches and it looked fantastic.

I love it! Please add arches to the inner side of the outer walls. It would give you more room on the inside.
The pathways inside the walls would feel less cramped and it would improve your accessibility.

Looking much more like a true BB build. I am so glad you are doing something more with what to me always looked like a couple of smoke stacks rather than towers. As ALWAYS love your videos and your creativity. Can't wait to see the next phase of this build.

Castles inside during the later medieval periods were more homely, like windows, gardens, housing and so on. This related to the change of the castle, as a place for living for the lord and his family with less need to focus on strenght or defence.
I love the amount of detail, creativity and interesting bits you put into your builds man. ...my builds always look so simple and basic.

It''s great to see you building so much on island. Quick tip so you won't get frustated later by picking up materials like stone from towers - you got item drawers mod, get it on the center of your build, in setting of mod increase range of pick up, give it one material so it will know what to pick up. It's a lot easier like that. Also if you're mining thing like stone or iron it's great to put item drawer next to place where you're mining. A lot easier to pick up by one go later on and transport to right place as base, build or whatever.

The smaller towers on the main towers are called turrets. They look great btw.

1:05 You need the gizmo mod, and then you can flip the gate upside down so that it shoots down into the ground. It's very appealing.
I believe the tiny sticking out bits on the tower are called “flying buttresses” and yeah some were for toilets.
I was thinking a bit about the narrowness of your walkway on the tops of the walls. If you used machicolations on the outer part of the wall, it would allow your walkway to be 2 blocks wide instead of just one, and I think the scale of it would look better in relation to the rest of your castle. I guess what I really mean though is technically not a machicolation, because you wouldn't really want it to be open to below. Just make the crenellations extend one block out from the outer edge of the wall.
If you put a layer of the small horizontal iron wall pieces on the stone every 2 floors, you can build a lot taller.

@Broadbent The mod (Balrond Barrel) at line D63 and (Balrond Trough) at line D66 inn the mod list is no longer available on the Nexusmods site.
Yeah the modder quit and deleted all his mods
If you use valheim plus mod you can turn the portcullis gate upside down and it will retract into the ground

What build camera mod are you using? the 'Build Camera' mod from vortex is not working for me.
I'm using that same mod. I had a tough time getting it to work. In the end I had to manually install it from a file via vortex. Might even be an older version

If you need some stonework inspiration for your castle/fort I would recommend JJ the Builder, he is a very talented valheim builder when it comes to castles and forts. He even has a tutorial as to how he thinks when he builds very informative.
