HOW TO fix Boot Error Code 0xC0000098 | Inaccessible_Boot_Device | BCD errors

- In this video you can watch HOW TO troubleshoot BCD errors
Used command lines:
bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot
First method:
Type this command to fix “the access is denied”:
bootsect/nt60
Execute this command to fix windows boot issue:
bootrec /fixboot
attrib C:\boot\bcd -h -r -s
Second method:
Especially for UEFI-based computers:
boot windows from installation media such as DVD or USB:
Select: Repair your computer = troubleshoot = Command Prompt:
Open desk manager:
Diskpart
Show available disks:
List disk.
Select boot drive:
Sel disk 0
Show available partitions:
List vol
Select the EFI Partition:
Sel vol 4
Assign the V letter to The EFI partition:
assign letter=V:
Open v partition:
Exit
V:
Format the EFI partition:
format V: /FS:FAT32
For windows 10 1709 and older use below command:
MD \EFI\Microsoft\Boot
cd /d V:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\
bootrec /FixBoot
bcdboot c:\Windows /l en-us /s V: /f All
For windows 10 1709 or newer (1803, 1809, 1903, 1909, 2004), …etc. use below command:
bcdboot C:\windows /s V: /f UEFI
exit
##############################
Incase if you are getting the below error#
##############################
"Failure when attempting to copy boot files"
Continue from the final step(error):
bcdboot c:\windows /l en-us /s (assign some letter): /f BIOS or UEFI or EFI or All
bcdboot c:\windows /s (assigned letter): /f BIOS or UEFI or EFI or All
Exit the command and restart the command from the beginning
X:\Sources attrib c:\boot\bcd -h -r -s
X:\Sources ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
X:\Sources bootrec /rebuildbcd
.
.
.
Add installation to boot list? Yes(Y)/No(N)/All(A):A
" The Operation completed successfully."
X:\Sources __Exit
Now restart the PC without OS CD or pendrive.

Those who are having problems with the last command (Failure when attempting to copy boot files error) Make sure that you are using the correct drive letter (C: or D: etc) where windows is present. If you keep using C: but windows is in D: then you'll get this error.

@@KurosakiTomoe en teoría solo de formatea la unidad oculta de arranque que pesa 100 MB , no los datos personales. Luego en el vídeo en esa unidad se escriben los archivos de arranque correctos ya que los que se formatean estaban corruptos

When I try to assign letter V (or any other letter, i tried also with E) to volume 1, which is my FAT32, command prompt says that the arguments specified for this command are not valid. Any tip?

I was having this issue and I found my C drive is missing too. It became X drive.
Using your method and assign my main partitions to C drive and finally I'm back to track!

friend, enter all the commands as explained in the video but when formatting it tells me "invalid media or track 0 bad" disk unusable format failed. What do I do in this situation?

Hello..I tried it to the last and now a different blue screen showing which says "the operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains error"
File: \windows\system32\config\system
Error code: 0xc0000185
"You will need to use recovery tools...."
Press Enter to try again
Press F1 to enter Recovery Environment
Press F8 for Startup Settings
Press Esc for UEFI Firmware Setting
This all that is showing on the blue screen.

Update: System broke again with different error this time after hooking up all drives and gpu back up. Will give update on when it’s fixed.
Update: Couldn’t get the issue resolved so I had to talk to Microsoft Customer Support and they walked me through on how I could reinstall windows AND keep my old files still. Today I’m gonna install Windows on a different drive and start with a fresh install. Whatever I need from the old drive, I’ll just transfer over.

Would this work with Windows11? Latest 22h2 update screwed my startup and I get "bcd" error everytime I launch my PC and have to waste 5 minutes in order to skip the repair and boot it again successfully.
