- I show you how to zoom in and out while in photo and video mode on the GoPro Hero 8 Black. Note that you cannot zoom while in recording mode like my SJ9 Strike action cam. Hope this helps.

yeah, GoPros are crap they were just great at marketing their cameras that's all they are definitely not the best cam on the market. As a matter fact they're probably down near the bottom maybe eight out of the top 10. My understanding is that hundreds of these cameras were returned to amazon because they leaked water inside to the camera.
It's really annoying not to able zoom in or out while vedio recording..

If it's digital zoom it makes no difference. Just zoom when editing, it's the same thing.

go pro is stupid for a lot of reasons, they do this to sell the "new and improved" models
@@TonyFisherPuzzles yeah but I wanted to zoom in on a still scene for effect in a music video. I did it by just slowing moving toward the object with stabilization on. But it I think it would have been better if I could just have zoomed in from camera on the tripod.

The zoom (when available) is minimal. It only goes to 1.4. My Akaso cameras allow zooming when recording, and it has a wide range.

The static video zoom is actually OK since I use it behind a glass wall when my son is doing Tae Kwon Do. I must say that the "tap" to zoom is not what I expected so I kept changing the mode by pressing and holding. Now I know!
go pro needs to get with the times its 2020, they should have a port that links right to an iPhone or a wifi that shows real time with no delay. it would help with sales and customer satisfaction.

After you turn off your camera do you have to reset the zoom or does it start where you left off

too bad they dont give you the option to zoom in or out while the video recording is in progess. for youtubers we need that option.

a major limitation of GoPro 11 black is no zooming facility while video recording . that is the main reason I am returning my gopro11 .hope its available in go pro 12 when its released in sept 2023 just 2 months to wait

I think you can zoom it using the GoPro Apps.
Even if that were to be true you can't hold together when filming.

Yeah it’s a Gopro and unfortunately/fortunately the Zoom doesn’t work the same as an iPhone.
Needs at least 10X optical zoom, available during recording, stopping video while recording to zoom seems so very State of the ARC (Noah's) I was thinking of purchasing one until seeing that, very disappointing.

You can’t zoom at all if live-streaming - not even before you start.
It's kind of disappointing, and actually shocking that GoPro doesn't allow you to zoom in and out DURING recording. I mean, this is release 8 already.. FIX THIS PLEASE!! Bush league. This is especially crucial when recording wildlife, and I almost always zoom in and out during filming to get a better general scope of the entire scene (on inferior cameras.) Shouldn't be hard for them to correct this nonsense on the next release.. even some older, cheaper recorders have this ability, whether action cam or not.

go pros are junk cameras they were great at marketing, but not good at making cameras I can't get mine to zoom. I can select where to put the zoom icon but it won't zoom and there's not one single video on CZcams. That explains why also notice how distorted the colors are on the GoPro screen itself so I thought my gaming videos would look better. Filmed on my GoPro than my crappy iPhone camera, but nope it does exactly the same thing. It distort the colors to an unusable degree when filming any video screen, the doors leak, the SD card is extremely difficult to get in and out it splits my videos into little tiny pieces causes me lots of extra work, I own many cameras and not a single one of them splits my videos, but GoPro will tell you that's what the video cards do. It's not the cam. That's a giant lie that they've been pushing for a very long time you'll find other people on here, saying the same thing their cameras don't split their videos, so when GoPro tells you, it's a functionality of the card because they're trying to save you from losing any of your valuable video content. It's a giant lie my drift camera could have the battery die, and it would still have all of my video right up to the moment the camera quit, but the GoPro professional tried to tell me that if I didn't stop the video by hitting the button, my video might be corrupted and that's why they split your video every 30 minutes that's an insane excuse and doesn't make any sense whatsoever. My suggestion is just don't buy a GoPro when you won't have all of the issues that I'm looking at on CZcams or video after video after video about how to solve problems with your GoPro.
