I am a technologically challenged 55 year old who just bought a GoPro Hero 7 Black. I don't know where to begin so the obvious answer is CZcams. Did you ever figure it out? If so how do you like it and how long did it take for you to figure it out? I bought it so my 13 year old daughter and I can record our electric scooter adventures etc. HAHA

Although I've spent my military career doing video production and editing, I shied away from buying one of these things mostly because of the price of the camera and the accessories that make it all work. Well, my Mrs. bought me the Hero8 Black for Christmas 2019, on your advice, I bought several accessories to make the shooting experience a better one. The instructional video was well done and easily understood, so good job there. I was able to download the app and connect the camera to my iPhone 11 Max. I did have to update the firmware manually, though. For some odd reason, I couldn't do it via bluetooth. It's not too difficult although there are several steps you have to take. My next step is to affix the camera to my motorcycle and try a couple of "on the road" videos. I also bought the elastic head mount and chest mount and I'm going to try to capture some video while parasailing. We'll see how it goes.
You spent a career doing video production and you thought 400 bucks was a lot to spend on a multi functional, top of the line camera?
Many years ago, when I first started using Photoshop, I was overwhelmed and struggled to get started. Finally I invited a professional photographer friend over for dinner and promised him and his wife a gourmet meal if he would spend an hour getting me started in Photoshop. It worked out perfectly and I went on to become far more than proficient in PS. Now the GoPro comes along and the online owner's manual sucks and I wish I had a GoPro using friend that I could invite over for dinner but, instead, I found your video. It was Perfect! Thank you! Just got my very first gopro (hero 8) for my 39th birthday so I can capture memories with my baby boy. I have done a lot of photography before, but I’m so happy to find this video on how to use this camera. It’s so great to be shown in such a clear way how to use it. I’m super excited about the quick capture feature, which I didn’t know about, as it will give me a better chance of catching my sons first steps, words etc on video, so thank you for including that info in your video. Im using my Gopro now...one thing i dont really like with it is the battery,its easy to low so you must get some spare battery...
Thanks I bought the special offer and it comes with an extra battery so I don't have to worry about that for now

The other thing I liked you were not one of those over excited kids jumping around trying to make the video more about them and their silly selfie instead of the subject matter on hand.
thankyou very much, i do not tend to put a lot of b-roll footage in my videos for that reason. Sometimes it looks good but can get irritating when you just want to learn something

I got mine for my 26th birthday in 2020 and I use it for metal detecting, arrowhead hunting, hiking, vlogging, etc. I got a dive housing for it that goes up to 196ft (60 meters) and I used it underwater with my floater handle attached. I’m going to find a 1TB micro SD card for my camera for more filming.
This was just brilliant. I have had my Go Pro for over a year and now I can use it much easier.

Since the Hero8 doesn't come with an owners manual or instruction manual of any kind, your videos are indispensable. Can you please tell me what the value of the GPS mode is?

Quick tip to insert the SD card easier, take the battery out to insert and remove it. It makes things a lot easier

Thanks for this as I just got a Hero 8 (for running, swimming, safety, etc.) Since it's my 1st GoPro, I got this one b/c it's less expensive w/all the features I need, but there are few instructions in the box. And though I think I'm *fairly* tech-proficient, for the life of me, I couldn't get the battery cover off!
