@@yj6118 I was miserable in a suburb near Atlanta...great public schools but homogenous and my school was heavily influenced by the local evangelical Baptist church ... to the point the Episcopal English teacher was treated like a freak of nature/heretic. My biology teacher apologized for teaching evolution. Even at UGA, which I enjoyed as an educational institution, my one black professor’s classes were assigned the English major’s multicultural designation because... he was black? In his own words, he had no idea why... it was depressing and terribly segregated. I left as soon as humanly possible. But land certainly is cheap and I have a friend who is a POC & really enjoyed a more luxe area closer to Atlanta. To each his own.

This is a rather late upload lol. Enjoy me rambling and plotting how to gently abduct the stray cat. Edit: NO, my title is not sarcasm and no I did not move to avoid racism. I moved for *a high quality of life.* It's just a plus that I'm around honest, upfront people. Someone commented as my last video, "The left wing and the right wing belong to the same bird, " after all. Think about that.
FAQ: *How did I move? Did I break my lease?* I transferred to a different apartment building free of charge just with a new deposit. Think of my old luxury Boston building as a fancy Russian all-glass McDonald's. I moved to another McDonald's with similar interior, but different exterior. Same chicken nuggets, with cheaper rent. When I finish this lease I'm buying a house in the woods STAT. I have to get used to lizards because I'm not interested in city life or being connected all the time anymore. I'm doing all the home-buying research now. I'm hoping to find my Jethro because I'd love help building a cabin from scratch tbh.

I’ve been to Boston once and I just didn’t see the appeal. It’s like a more boring version of NYC - too cold too! The NE is highly overrated IMO.
There’s something particularly beautiful, somewhat elite and cute about the Northeast, but I ultimately decided that “cute” is not going to cut it for me as a human being anymore. Out here there’s just a bunch of strip malls and lots of highway, but I feel like I can actually mold my own lifestyle. Also since it’s not freezing cold I can actually do activities to stay sane right now. I’ve been doing all sorts of water sports lol.

Oh and tips on getting the stray: leave food but don't capture it the first time, give a few days so the cat knows this is where it will get its food. While the cat is eating, leave your door open and see if it will come inside. Most likely it will not stay long, maybe 10mins or so and then it would want to leave, let it leave.
After a day or two with the cat inside for short visits, bring the food inside and see if it will eat inside the apartment.
If cat eats in the apartment, and it's stays lengthen to 45mins+, then it is time to capture it.
Make sure you have stuff for it first, like food, litter box, food bowls, basic toys but not too much at first, and a kennel or travel bag.
The kennel will be for when you take it to the vet which will need to happen very soon after the cat is captured

Yeah , out here it seems tho there arent as many dead dogs feom when i first moved to texas. Sad for them though. My husband was like that's a jackal and i was like, What is that ? Man i ain't never been so creeped.

I never liked cats either. Then for some odd miracle I got one. I was terrified and kept the kitten in the box for an hour until I was brave. Opened the box and it has been the love of my life. I still don’t like cats but I love mine. She is like a living teddy bear and my spirit animal all in one. I’ve never regretted it!

You need to take in that kitty! We took in a stray almost 5 years ago and she's also a black cat. Best decision ever!! I feel like you will appreciate how smart, lazy, badass, and independent cats can be. Just make sure to take the kitty to a vet as soon as possible so it can get it shots, make sure its all good and healthy, and doesn't need anything special like special food or whatever

Regarding strays: the best thing you can do, if you plan on homing one, is to take it to the vet for a checkup once you trap it. You can get cat traps and carriers online (I use Chewy, and my cats LOVE their comfy fabric carrier). The vet will be able to scan it to see if it’s chipped or not and also whether it’s been neutered/spayed. I’d strongly discourage letting an un-neutered Tom into your apartment... they’re usually super friendly and social but will also piss everywhere. But strays and rescues are great. They usually display gratitude and affection to their humans. Get the Temptations treats. Cats go NUTS for them!

Please don’t give up on the homestead dream. Once you have your own land and animals you gotta take care of and a cute little farm house I don’t think you’ll need much more! Good tip for lizards from a Floridian: They can not run and breathe at the same time. If a lizard gets in, it will be insanely easy to catch if you slide it into the box when it's taking a breathing break. They don't have much stamina either due to this so they stop often (: (I'm not a scientist, this is just something i've picked up from living where I do and interacting with lizards daily.) You can also easily pick them up like that man did and put them outside or somewhere else. When you're trying to get them to move, sometimes they may be taking a breather, so just wait a little while then get a little closer to them and they'll run :D!! You get use to your tiny little neighbors, trust me

To find out if the cat is a stray: you might be able to take the cat to a nearby humane society (or similar place) to see if they have a microchip.
I bought a microchip reader on Amazon it was easier than trapping the poor kitty.
Ok, I’m here to talk about cats. A few things you should consider: one the cat may have a home and be an indoor/outdoor cat (yes, yes, a lot of people don’t like that, but they exist, even without the collars); two if one of cat’s ears is tipped (as in, missing the top) the cat has been TNRd (trap-neutered-released) and just lives in your neighborhood as a colony. Usually done so they don’t have any babies. Colony cats are feral and though you could adopt a feral, they are already living their lives and I would just not bother them; three if you really want a cat I would suggest you to adopt one from the shelter as cats are the most euthanized animals in shelters. There are tons of great resources online to find out more, but I would be really hesitant of you picking up whatever cat just because it’s outside. I’m a faithful follower of the Stamps Multiverse, but do not condone catnapping 😽
I hear ya! Moved from LA to Palm Springs and now in a small village in Germany. Literally the best decision of my life. I wake up to peace every morning and if I feel like getting out, I go into Munich for a day and that's enough to last me for a month LOL. Nothing beats the peaceful living in a small town. We are currently setting up our studio in this village for our clothing line as well. So fun!

You are supposed to use "cat traps" to get strays.
You put a can of food in the trap & when a cat goes in, the open door closes.
Also if you get them. Take them to a vet later. Because some cats have microchips. & vets can check if they have an owner.
yesssss. I am the mama to a stray cat. They are the best, i live somewhere warm (not in the states so there isn't animal control) and i love that I get the cuddles, can feed and provide for him but I dont feel too responsible or trap him in a house, though I have a door he can enter my yard.. I havent left for years but if i ever do my neighbors also feed him. I will never own a pet but when strays come and give me love, you do feel chosen! I also had the goal of living off my land and im almost there, i really never measure my wealth anymore because its all i need, i still want to learn and grow as a person but i no longer care how much i make. much love Miss Stamps

I moved from Ca to Texas. Gov Abbott here is a psycho, there are no leaders and the infrastructure sucks. I live 5 miles from my favorite grocery store & it takes me 30 mins to get there because there are NO direct roads! The best thing to do if you want a stray cat to like you is to let them come to you when they are ready. Get some cat food and feed them outside your door so that they will come to your area and get used to you. Then over time, they will build trust and may get curious to explore the inside of your home. When this happens, you can then ease your way into getting it used to your place. They may still want to go outside after, but the more you let them in when they want and out when they want, the more they will feel like they can trust you and eventually they won’t have the urge to be out as much. That was hilarious! sad but true. I often look at them and be like "hey can you help me with the cleaning at least?"...as one watches me clean his poop box....they probably be thinking look at this human digging around my toilet with a small shovel looking for my poo...with their judgey eyes lol

I did the farm thing to get a grip too! I'm currently now in school for horticulture and sustainable agriculture and work on my school's farm as well as volunteer at farms around the city, and it's the best feeling!
