Jimin explained Filter this way: filters are something we can choose for our pictures when posting on social media, but we can also refer this way to prejudices and stereotypes. It is a very complex song, that I still fail to grasp fully. There is always something sneaking away from putting it to words. Truly magical song.

Lie is a song in where we see an inner fight between his two sides, his true and insecure self, and this mask that he created to face the world but is swallowing him up. It’s a complex song where metaphors, vocal and music composition details mix to vignette a cry for help.

Even as a over 50 years old Korean who has heard so many Kpop & Korean songs from so many excellent Korean singers in various music genres, there is no vocalist like Jimin who has so uniquely beautiful vocal colors & tone, one of a kind pure clarity vocal with exquisite emotional vulnerability & dangerous sensuality & has remarkable abilities to sing most crystal clear angelic high notes that even most female singers couldn’t sing!
He is truly a gifted vocalist who is constantly working hard to evolve & push himself to become even better singer & performer! 👏👏👏💜💜💜
FYI : - Lie lyrics was mainly written by Jimin & he also took some part in composing as well.
In his Vlive, during that time, he was going through hard times but tried to convince & lied to himself & other that everything is OK, but he has finally realized that he was deceiving himself & to those he loves.
Jimin said he has written ‘Lie’ lyrics while working through those troubled emotions.
- ‘Promise’ is his first fully composed & written solo song(except English parts of the lyrics which is written together with RM & that process is in BTS official document) which Jimin has gifted us in SoundCloud on the last day of 2018.
According to Jimin in his Vlive, when he has started working on this song, he has started with negative emotions of self criticism, but it has slowly changed to messages of self love, finding their own inner lights & comfort, to help those fans who was going through the same hard times & same self negativities, just like Jimin himself.
He said while making this song, he has slowly learned the importance of self acceptance, finding inner lights, peace & positivity, learned to love his own self & he wished his song would help his beloved fans & Army in anyway.
And when this beautiful song was released, so many fans has fallen in love immediately that it’s become the highest streaming song within 24 hours in SoundCloud & also this lovely song has touched so many fan’s hearts, brought so much comfort, lights & solace that it has become the healing song in many people’s daily life & become the No.1, most streamed song in SoundCloud in its history. 💜💜💜

Jimin's solos are my favorites(I might be biased since he is my bias lol) but I mean Serendipity is one of my favorite songs ever! His voice is so damn unique and beautiful! Also he is the most beautiful person ever!!!!

No one can compare to Jimin. He's a one off. His beauty, voice, talent. He is also a classically trained dancer and was top student He learned popping and locking. He's a black belt in Taekwondo and is a Kendo master having studied it for 8 years. To me it doesn't matter who covers his songs they will never replace him. I'm army and not a multi Stan at all. Only BTS for me. I love all 7 of these precious men but Jimin and Suga are my favourites. BTS have transcended kpop and left the other groups so far behind them. The Jimin effect is real , even grown men fall victim to the Jim effect. He was once asked where he saw himself in 10 years his answer was I will be the man that everyone wants and I think he has achieved that. Lie is a masterpiece and should not be copied it's Jimin that makes it a masterpiece too.

6:11 let me be honest here I love every vocal line a lot, it depends on my mood that whom I want to hear but when it comes to Jimin I can listen to him like anytime, anywhere, his voice just suits my every mood whether I'm sad or happy, his voice is my favorite since the day one that I became Army. Also make sure to check out all the live performance of those songs I bet you'll love (or maybe fall for Jimin😉) it

basically, even though it might sound like a love song, it's also kind of sad. it's about jimin trying to mold himself and change himself for others to like/accept him - people around him, fans, the society. in the performance, he puts on "women's" clothes from the mannequin and has very androgynous elements in his look (as well as masculine and feminine forms of words written on the palm of his hands). jimin had a hard time in yearly years before and after the debut because they all were given a "macho man" concept and he had to work through his toxic masculinity to accept himself. soooooo yes. I hope this helps.

Promise was written by jimin for himself. he worked on this song for a long time and said it started with quite self deprecating lyrics but then eventually changed in self-help, self-healing song. Namjoon helped him write the lyrics. promise was released on soundcloud and now it's the most streamed song in soundcloud's history
Toward the end RM helped with the Eglish lyrics and gave the idea for the pinkie swear, but this is definitely Jimin's song.
Jimin’s solos are so pretty! I know everyone is ga ga over Filter but my favorite is Lie. Lie is just next level creative. He brings so much passion to his performances, he’s just a joy to watch!

Jimin really truly is amazing! My interpretation of Filter is Jimin being in control of all the various personas and “filters” that he takes on and off and my opinion solidified after seeing the performance. The way he walks around trying on outfits (specifically male and female clothes), rejects them and puts on others, and then emerges with his own look and style in the end shows how at every point Jimin is the one in control of the change. Jimin is both the genie (granting wishes) and Aladdin (the one in charge). He is controlling our (the audience ) desire so he teases us and we may “pick a filter” (as if we have a choice lol) but in the end Jimin is aware of his allure and power. We all know Jimin has incredible duality and I’m glad he has embraced the many sides of himself. 💜

I believe Lie has a lot to do with Jimin’s battle with his own insecurities and being a perfectionist. He is extremely hard on himself, and I think the lie he was putting himself in was that he has to be perfect 24/7, which isn’t true. As humans we have to make room for those imperfections. That mindset gets really toxic when you absolutely hate yourself for the smallest mistakes.
This was the first BTS song that made me cry a lot because I could relate to it, but also it genuinely hurt thinking about all the pain Jimin had to endure for thinking that way, especially because he is the most considerate human alive.
Lie is one of my favorite BTS songs ever. The sinister orchestra really goes hand in hand with the theme of the lyrics because it’s essentially like this demon possessing your mind. These thoughts that invade you, telling you that you can never mess up, are like evil spirits tbh. Anyways that’s just my take on it

I’ve never heard a song as pretty as Serendipity and as haunting as Lie. Promise (no it's not on Spotify, sadly) is just so cute and Filter is very flirty but if you analyze the lyrics a little deeper there’s more to it. Just the fact that they put it after Shadow and Black Swan in the album it’s pretty telling.
BTS albums are concept albums (lyrically), which means that each of them follow a different theme. The title track is the song that represents the theme the best and the comeback trailer is like a teaser. So Euphoria is the teaser for the Love Yourself trilogy, Serendipity is the teaser for Her with title track DNA, Singularity is the teaser for Tear with tt Fake Love and Epiphany is the teaser of Answer with tt IDOL. When I started to understand how BTS present their music I was so surprised. They put so many details in everything they do, it's crazy.
ps: I was curious as how you would react to the short film and you didn’t disappoint ahaha “what is this?”, “oh, that was creepy”, “that’s so creative”, yep, we’ve all been through it. If you ever want to explore the Bangtan/BTS Universe I would be very interested in your thoughts.

i got into bts just few days prior to dynamite release. i wanted to check them out so i played their latest album then (mots7) on shuffle.
Filter was the first song i heard. I had NOT IDEA who it was but i downloaded that song right away cuz it was that good. for the first time ever i felt as if lyrics aren't that necessary if you produce a good song (later I checked out its lyrics and got blown away yet again but that's another story)
in conclusion, you can say jimin got me into bts and made me an ARMY singlehandedly 💜

About the pitch of Jimin's voice, he was playing with high-pitched sounds even when he was young, it is said. However, his natural voice is a standard tenor in pitch, which you can hear clearly even in very old and early behind scenes BangtanTV footage, when he was 18 years old.
Where he is unusual is in his muscular control, which he uses both in dance and singing.
As the last member to join BTS, he did not get a say in what role he was supposed to take within the group. That includes how he was supposed to use his voice.
His singing skills are homegrown. He only recently started to take vocal lessons.
For me, where he excels vocally is his ability to express his extremely well-developed emotional intelligence.
As with movement, he's very playful vocally, too.
Just the other day he did a three-part live on Weverse where he was building a model of a miniature traditional Korean house. At one point, he was humming and singing quietly. Including sometimes doing meow meow like a cat, lol.
To get away from the filtered presentations you will traditionally see of his voice, I recommend two things.
The first is a recent video from TheJiminVideos channel about his dance evolution. The other is a BangtanTV v-log he did a few weeks ago, where he was making a silver bracelet. Together, these will expand your understanding of who he is as a human being, and you will also see how wide-ranging and sensitive his artistry is.
I love everyone in BTS, and they are all essential to the BTS experience. That being said, what Jimin brought to the group is unusual, and it's been there since the start.
Behind that cute baby mochi persona is a very complex person! Jimin is a rare combination of being able to authentically and eloquently express himself through both music and dance. Chapter 2 Jimin will be much sensual and cunning.
His songs are mostly complex. Lie, I later found out, is compositionally genius where the notes of the chorus is out of usual arrangement thus supporting the whole lie theme. I'm not a musician but watched few professional musicians explained this.
Filter live is totally a must watch, but I definitely recommend checking out Serendipity live as well, if you get a chance! The choreography and the way he performs it are just so beautiful, really heightened my love for the song! also a shout out to the Jimin MMA Idol fan dance, he just constantly blows me away. loved hearing your thoughts, especially how much you loved Promise💜! Someone described it as a warm hug, and listening to it truly feels that way. hopefully one day they add it to Spotify 🙏 Thank you for the video!

Lie probably reminds you of stigma by V because they're from the same album! If you remember at the end of Save me and Fire by BTS it says something like "Boy Meets _" this is teasing for the entire Wings Ablum Era that includes solo songs by each member and their title track Blood Sweat and Tears. I would listen to the entire album in it's entirety! Boy Meets Evil is the intro track by Jhope and has a video you can watch. Wings is their BEST album aside from Tear- there is a lot of content they posted for teasers and trailers you can watch on the YT.
All of Jimin's solos are outstanding. The quality of his solos are way high. But Lie is masterpiece. Lie is forever my favourite bts solo song.

Since you have seen many covers of Lie, then I highly recommend Lie's original dance practice to appreciate it even more. No one can dance like Jimin because he incorporate many dance styles plus his various martial arts background. If you want to know more about Jimin, then I recommend "Park Jimin Intro Video 2022."

Serendipity was written by RM and there’s an adorable guide track he recorded of it, but Jimin made it his own and is incomparable: definitely a song for your crush! Rm is a poet and Jimin interprets that poetry marvellously.
Jimin was the hardest member for me to connect with but once i JimINed I will never JimOut. He’s amazing; a master of many trades and such a kind loving human too. His dad writes him letters and sends flowers on his bday, saying things like “you were born to be my son” awww with such a solid base no wonder he flies so high 💜

The Wings short films have to be watched in order because there's a lot of references carried through each or repeated. You should also really watch Serendipity concert version because it's probably one of the most beautiful pieces of choreography ever. Filter choreography is the most sensual thing, oof blush.
