Timely video, I'm getting ready to cut mine. I have used both a Dremel and jig saw in the past.
This worked just fine for me , i cut 75mm off a honda 1800vtx screen this way , takes a while to clean off the molten excess , but well worth the effort , thanks for the video instruction .
Makes me happy to know that it worked out good for you👍🏻 ride safe my friend🇺🇸
Good answer spikey911usa, I use to work in a race car shop and after making the windows and sanding them would run a torch across the edge and it would make it clear as the rest of the windshield
Good job.
wow I have been trying to find a 2 inch taller windshield for my scooter but GIVI seems to only make one 4 inch taller.now I can get it and go ahead and cut it.
glen johnson This windshield was crazy tall for the wife. So we trimmed it up. It worked out pretty good.
@@ManCaveMayhem well the way it is right now it hits my glasses or my helmet and tries to lift them up so I need to cut this one down then I might as well not even have one or get the new givi and cut it down.
@@MadsWorld34 I just got a 24” givi and have to cut it down about 1-1/2”. I know this is an old vid and an old comment. But I’m in the same boat. Great vid.
@@davezimmerman8627 thanks i got one and had it cut down. it cost me almost as much as the windshield did itself but it was worth it. i tried to cut my old one first and cracked it then melted it then i couldn't get it even so i just paid a glass shop to do it for me and i love it.
I too am thinking of cutting mine. But my reason is when it rains I cant see through it anymore. Looks like a good idea. Thanks. I have a GIVI tall windscreen. I'm thinking maybe cutting two inches off.
You can make it look factory fresh if you take your time. Thanks for watching.
We'll done. A cutoff wheel is the way to do that. No worries about cracks from blade serrations.
Anytime that Mama is happy it is a win-win if momma ain't happy nobody is happy in that household LOL haha
Clarence Swope So true “Happy Wife, Happy life!”😂
Turned out nice. Get R DONE!
Russel Allen thanks for the support and thanks for watching👍
A little off topic, are aftermarket windshields rated differently for strength? Are they as strong as the original as far as wind pressure is concerned. I recently saw a broken one I assume broke while being transported on a trailer.
I know some of them are made out of different materials. Which one is stronger than another I’m not sure. They are pretty durable though.
I think I will try dremel too. I NEED to cut off some of my windscreen on my XVS 1300 Midnight Star..It's way too tall.
Cruiser John Just take your time it worked really well and made the whole thing look factory. Good luck and thanks for watching👍🏻
@@ManCaveMayhem Will do :-) Yes you made it look good:-) Thanks..No problem.Ride safe
If you hit it with a 2000 grit wet n dry paper it'll polish up good like you've never touched it before 😉
Good advise👍🏻
Try a coping saw or fretsaw.
you should probably shouldn't take the tape off until after you are done sanding
What Speed Was Dremel Set At ?
chuck s I don’t know exactly but I had it set at the higher speed.
👍👍👍👏👏
Would you ever swap with your wife aka Vin Diesel your 650 for the 400 or does she care either way.
Bob Grabowski she thinks the 650 is too much bike and she doesn’t really give much thought. I offered to buy her a new one but she wants to run this 400 till it dies which may happen on this trip🤣
