Until we get some contribution from the bottom lines, we're not winning jack. It seems any game McDavid doesn't play well, the Oilers lose. Hard to win it all with inconsistent goaltending and defense, as well as lack of depth scoring. Relying on three guys to score all of our goals is hopeless. Cmon, boys....you can pull it together.
It's not rocket science. When mcdavid and Draisaitl center their separate lines, you will get more depth scoring. When you stack the top line, it kills line 2. I love Nuge but he's a support guy that can't drive his own line.

Every team and series goes through highs and lows in the playoffs. So many of the fans panic at every adverse moment and seem to think it’s supposed to be a cake walk. So really all we saw were par for the course hockey plays that together @ a bad time created poor optics that mislead us until we break them down honestly like this. I want Kris to break down the whole game for me the way I just showed because I believe that what happened to Connor is a microcosm of the Team current challenges across the Board. They can win this series if the play with discipline, both defensively, offensively and no retalitory penalties. Usually results in lower scoring games, but it's how to win. The result is that the talent wins the game, and the Oilers have better talent. Look at the Bruins and Leafs, but both teams went into super discipline mode, and it was really a toss up. The Leafs could've won had they done it sooner. Same with the Rangers, playing super disciplined, and winning with their talent.
I think playing the Oilers top line 30 minutes a night benefit the Canucks. The Oilers depth is non existent and even more so when they play only 7-8 minutes a night.
The Oilers won four games against the easiest of first round opponents and now are having trouble in the second round and their goalie has been exposed...They aren't winning a cup this year. Not in THIS universe.
