    It's been mentioned time and again of how hostile the media in Edmonton is towards it's team. This's why nobody really wants to play in Edmonton. It's an awful place to live, and even worse people to play for compared to every other team in the league. Fire the coach they say. One could only imagine that after 8 previous coaches, that it's simply not the issue. I blame the media and Matheson is a prime example of what's wrong with Edmonton. It's completely demeaning and demoralizing to the players, with questions like that show a complete lack of respect to the players integrity and dignity.

Reporters trying to get players into gotcha moments or hang their teammates out to dry, players who are mostly only there from obligation, not actual desire to be, even when they win. The most prominent memories of these pressers are the ones where you think you wouldn't mind seeing some knuckles get chucked or the occasional laugh amongst all in the room. How to come back in the third period, what went wrong, what do you have to do better next game, who would you rather face in the next series, what do you have to do to beat so-and-so next round. No, we don't have to, I was saying I think we should, or we could make it fully optional for any player or coach who wants to go into the media room for questions, not out of some obligation. And in part, because of the very reasoning I said in the initial post. Why is it part of the job as an athlete? Because that's been the standard? Because the same media that uses athletes for their own fodder are the ones telling us its their job? Players are not public servants, our taxes don't pay them directly. The athletes would still do the same job if they did not do media pressers

    If these boys in Edmonton get thru this and battle the adversity, when they start winning again, they will not want to lose so they will be playing more desperately which means they will be dangerous! I'm a diehard Blues fan and watching this Oilers team so far this season... this has the echos of the 2019 SC Champion StL Blues and what they were going thru just before they turned it on and took over the league and they didn't look back until they got what they wanted. Remember I said this.. this

      Nah blues where a great team with top notch defence and scoring with a sub par goalie then binnington came and completed the package. • @misguidedangel6550
      @misguidedangel6550 Před 2 lety +2

      Nawww the Blues were severe under achievers in 18/19 & had a good team with brutal goaltending until Binnington arrived in the New Year and then they immediately started winning again. Blues had the playoff experience already as well while the Oilers have none

      @bhkell5602 Před 2 lety +1

      @@pickachu69 Oh totally , I understand that but, If the goal-tending "situation" gets better somehow and the D-men have confidence in whoever's behind them in the net, I dont see why these boys couldnt turn it around and have an epic rest of the season because they definitely have the talent and skill... BUT, I guess the real question/s still remains to be seen, and that is.. 1st. - Can they handle this adversity and get thru it in a positive way and 2nd.- will they have the drive, the hunger and passion to be legit Cup contenders once they start playing good hockey again.. And with having the 2 best players in the league, (the world, arguably), playing in Edmonton, you would have to think that good things are coming!. Stay positive my, hockey friend!
